Not really worth it and he's probably not even doing it himself.
Most of the things are like, railroad spikes, and are so rusted out that it would take months of bathing in solution to get the rust off.

It would make throwing EXTREMELY difficult. It would help pull up but got throw before you pull.
Honestly, if he found something heavy that his magnet could hold onto, Id say... maybe 150-300 lbs max.... he could fashion a rescue rope system with a couple of carabineers, and one pulley, and he could really lift some heavy shit without having to rely on bare knuckle strength. Itd take alittle longer, but it would be a lot easier on him with the capability of relying on fulcrums to use lesser strength to achieve the same result of double max strength, and if the right cinch knots are employed, could save every foothold length of rope. Tedious, but in Rescue Rope class, extremely effective.
The thing that's leeking air looks like a very old fire extinguisher to me.

If you like the sled better than a bucket. When there ain't no snow you can still use a sled it's called a wagon

Have you considered tying a knot every 4 to 6 feet in the rope to give you a better hold on it when it is so icy?

every knot will weaken the rope so not really a good idea.

I know you've gone magnet fishing in the Fox River before (Neenah, WI), so I'm guessing that's probably an area you're close to. Just a reminder from my partner who grew up in the Fox River Valley - never ever eat any fish from the Fox River. The river's gotten better over the years, but it's still so incredibly polluted from all the paper mills that were in the area.
Also, who's up for the annual Toss Joe McCarthy's Headstone into the Fox River event? lol
Hopefully im not the first to suggest this but umm..... have you considered maybe investing in a Geiger counter?
You pick up alot junk and illegally dumped items and for all you know, some of them probably have radioactive ☢ properties in them and could be exposing yourself and your friends to harmful radiation. Some fishing lead sinkers are actually shaped similarly to radioactive sinkers used for testing.
Invest in a Geiger counter that you can wear on your belt or something so that if you fish something radioactive up , then you can check it easily.
Do you have any idea as to how expensive those are thousands of dollars if not tens of thousands

The Fisher, the big thing that you caught could be an air compressor tank for a scuba diver which still has air or gas for a propane tank.
Tbh looks like an oil canister off an old pice of equipment. Our old 50s backhoe had a similar canister on it. Housed the oil filter

Not sure about the 4" pipe with threaded cap. I am guessing it had an air pocket in it and when turned vertical it released bubbles. The long pipe with flattened end look like maybe a swing set leg?
