The best football ever was played in those decades. Starting in the 90s, peaking 2000 and declining towards end of 2010 as more and more money started to rule the game. Before the 90s and the total football , the game was also beatiful but more slower and spaces were huge. Today is about muscles and money. The names on the pitch only that day, Lampard, Terry, Robben, Makelele, Cech, Ronaldinnho, Eto'o, Deco, Puyol, Iniesta.
The fact that this is the best team in term of defence in the history of EPL and they were struggling to cope with 18 y/o messi is even more impressive. Messi progression from wonderkid to world class also so impressive, he learned a lot from star players around him as we can see attributes of ronaldinho, xavi ,iniesta ,busquet, pep, deco, henry, eto, and so on combined and become the GOAT messi. This match and Juventus made me believe he has the potential to be the best in this generation. This coming from the Royal Club (Real Madrid) fan. In the match Barca won 5-0. The way he played against the big names and got fouled again and again brutally but still destroyed them. I will always be a Madrid fan, but no one, NO ONE plays like Messi. I watched him during 2006 and 2007, but I was thinking that he had to prove himself without the help of Dinho. And boy, did he shatter my doubts once Dinho left.
@@SombreroFlicks fun fact the 2006-07 season was the period where Ronaldinho started to go downhill and Messi started to take over Barcelona. We forgot, at least those of us who are old enough, how football was more violent and such a physical game compared to nowadays. Any of these strong tackled today would definitely be red in most cases. I kinda miss that aspect of the game and also this makes you respect Messi even more since he was able to play like that during the times when the game was this physical when he was just a teenager. The other player I know that also got subjected to a lot of physicality to stop him was Maradona. All the young kids today have it easy.
I miss that aspect also, there was conflict and drama making such memorable games. But it also ended the careers of several talented footballers so i understand why the sport has become softer.
People say if only Ronaldinho had 5 more years... There's a problem with that statement. Five more years of tip-top form of Ronaldinho would not have paved the way for Messi in the way that it did for his career. Ronaldinho needed to fall off for Messi to be the man.
some kid from Korea way too good , they said he’s the only player that beat out Messi record at acedemy . but then , everyhting is about Messi , so they had to destroyed that kid . poor kid . 😢
If you mean Lee Seung-woo, the board made a mess with his signing, they didn't destroy him because he was better than Messi. You don't invest a ton of money and resources on cultivating talents only to block them out if they become too good.
The greatest difference between Messi and Ronaldo is Messi never acts injury...he is always after the ball.. Ronaldo being physically superior, even a simple push he will fall down and ask for freekick or penalty..
When people say you cannot compare eras, what they could mean is that Maradona had this treatment in every game for his whole career. Every great player had this treatment. They changed the rules, to make the game more clean and based on attack.
It's crazy how Messi has been getting nasty tackles since day 1 and yet he never got major injuries. If Neyma or Dembele would've had half those tackles their careers would've ended in their mid 20s

One of the greatest failures in my life was not seeing him life, in the camp nou. If I adopt or have kids, if there is someone this inspiring. We will see him/her in the front lines of the stadium. Idc. I’ll sell the house. I can’t imagine how inspiring this kid was in person. Fucking heavyweight of heavyweight
90 minutes of trying to injure him😏
2006? Damn time flies bros. The older you get it faster it goes. Believe me.
Correct. 😢
This was the fist time i saw Messi live,i remember thinking wow!. I've lost count of the times I've said wow since.
Messi was the best and he still going now he really deserves everything he got and more
Vamos Messi vamos Argentina 🇦🇷
"BuT bUt BUt, MrSsi nEvER dId IT iN the PrEMiEr lAguE"
Bro that kick in the leg could have end his career 💀
Messi is probably the footballer that has endured the most career-ending tackles in modern football.
You are spot on. That's a horror tackle by Del Horno. He should have been banned for many games.
Amazingly, this Messi guy didn't even milk it but rather played on.
@@SombreroFlickshe still continues playing after the tackles! No subs! At times he doesn't even fall 😅😂. My goat 🐐
Last night at the age of 37 , Messi scored a hatrick with 2 assist against Bolivia , do u believe it he was involved in 5 goals , we are lucky to witness greatness ❤
2:40 the way he shield himself😂 pure instinct
Absolutely nobody who watched Messi from the beginning of his career doubt that he is the Goat. Fenómeno without injuries could have been as good as him.
See a psychiatrist on my bill😂😂
@@Cannan-w4k just by your comment I already know your age or your nationality. Does it make you think anything?
@@cosasquevanjuntas5405😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤡
@@JacobCash420 haha are you ok? If you have any problem you can count on me.
Maradona was HIM , but Messi on the RW is the goat
Robben vs Messi. Nice footage!
Love your videos. Also make video about his 2018 WC qualifier performance. His comeback and helped Argentina to qualify for WC was epic and not talked much.
Added to the list 🥰
Messi do work hard and smart.
Imagine if young CR had to face this much of physical hostility !!! 🤔
Wonder if that happened crazy huh? Ahha
😂😂😂😂 he played against Chelsea weekly you utter clown.
Will we ever see something like that ? 🐐
Being just 18 and outshining Ronaldinho, Etoo and Deco is crazy.
Me
Goodness me !! Can any player ever dictate terms like Messi did 😮😮
Here Messi was still learning and experimenting, yet menacing to Mourinho's team
we are so blessed that Leo never had any career altering injury, the tackles in display here are just absolutely horrible and there are literally hundreds of videos like this
Leo wasn't as explosive after his injury in 2012, but yes thankfully that was his worst one.
Legend.
Knew from the moment i seen him in this match that he was destined for greatness
2:14 Red Card Var 2024
2:44 Deserved.

Am a messi fan but i started watching him after he 26 or 27 but now am realise how he become the best young footballer also best current aged footballer ! I almost watched messis all career starting games and one thing I clearly understand messi was the only youngster player conceded most fouls! He was just destroying all the big players he was a scare to others 🙌🏻
Que grande que es Messi! Sin dudas el mejor jugador de la historia
That Terry play was a double penalty hahaha, kudos for him for pulling it
I remember watching this as a kid. The very reason I fell in love with football.
Chelsea made sure the pitch was unplayable first 😂😂
Just mind blowing he was just the kid and he dominated the game.
first time i saw him,i cry along the game,i saw the God of Football, not a human❤
Messi, a really big player
My goodness! This is my club Chelsea! Why on earth are they killing a teenager?! How on earth xid Messi have a long illustrious career. Man has been kicked for almost 20 years! 😅😂 I can see how Yamal's career will go if he stays fit. Yamal is this special.
I remember this match. Del Horno was playing criminal football, he should have been red carded way before he actually get sent off. Messi made a fool of the entire Chelsea team that day.
"Yo Rijkard where tf you found that little kid" every coach 2006-2007
There was no way mourhino would destroy god gifted left leg.
The leg that took at least 2 UCL finals away from José.
The GOAT at work.
2:14 this foul 😮
This should have been the red card instead.
Del horno is disgusting for that
disgraceful should have been an instant red!!!. Can’t believe it poor Messi
Messi is a Great footballer, take it or leave it ✌🏼☺️
If VAR technology was used in this game i think all chelsea player could have received red cad because of lionel messi
This match and Juventus made me believe he has the potential to be the best in this generation. This coming from the Royal Club (Real Madrid) fan. In the match Barca won 5-0. It was the time I realized I am seeing the greatest player player of this generation if not all generation. The way he played against the big names and got fouled again and again brutally but still destroyed them. I will always be a Madrid fan, but no one, NO ONE plays like Messi. Almost feels like a different game.
Pep made a good decision when he decided to sell Ronaldinho to Milan and to make Messi the biggest star in Barcelona in the 2008-09 season. You can see where their careers went after that. Some other coach may have kept Ronaldinho in 2008.
Don't forget the fact that Messi was only 17 years old here but was terrorising the whole Chelsea team with experience and world-class players back then.
Woawww so many world legend on this footage
chelsea booiing meesi,,youll never have messi
2:48 Duh. Dude was fouling him left and right. NEVER even smelled the ball 😂
Del Horno was fighting for his dignity but his inner Pepe got the best of him.
A team with Ronaldinho, Eto'o and Deco...
But the most dangerous of them all, was a 18y old boy called Messi!
the pitch is unacceptable for this kind of champion league match.
The pitch was part of Jose's match plan.
Yep, totally on purpose by Mou
@@raypinswhat a shit plan!
What a man Messi is... 👽 🐐
They should have booed the pitch at the half, Mourinho turned the pitch into a potato patch to thwart Barça’s passing, spooked etc
Wow, this guy is good, Barcelona should try to keep him for a long time. Keep up the good work young kid.
Bro gave his channel name a skill❤️🔥
One of messi's quality people forget to discuss is his steals 🤯
It's amazing how much better soccer pitches have become. That field was so muddy.
I also miss Andy Gray as a commentator. He was one of my favorite. Too bad the woke mob killed his commentary career.
He got sacked cos he couldnt behave himself in the workplace 😂😂 standard practice
@charlesharris406 Nah! He got sacked because sensitive woke feminist who can't take a joke have taken over the workplace. As simple as that.
Mourinho deliberately made the pitch like that to affect Brça's passing game. He said it himself...the dark arts
@@rௐண Stop with your conspiracy. Fields used to be that bad many years ago.
@@Uzodesign No other team in the league field looked like that. What is there to conspire about?! I watched that whole game LIVE as well as the pre and post-match conferences. If you were too young at that time, that's ok also
Notice how Chealse field is previously "prepared" to recive Barcelona gamestyle...
20 years at the top. Goat
And he won a world cup almost 20 years later as the best player in the competition. Magic
Messi = Magician = GOAT
Those who say Messi has not a good run up... Watch it❤️❤️❤️
People say if only Ronaldinho had 5 more years...
There's a problem with that statement.
Five more years of tip-top form of Ronaldinho would not have paved the way for Messi in the way that it did for his career.
Ronaldinho needed to fall off for Messi to be the man.
And the rest is history ❤, our own la pulga.
Unstoppable 🔥⚽️🍾🤌🏽
Those tackle is crazy son of a Beach
Dude the amount of knocks he receives. Today, such knocks would cause injuries. Dirty players of Mourinho
IMAGINE THIS HAPPENING DURING THIS ERA OF SOCIAL MEDIA
GOAT
some kid from Korea way too good , they said he’s the only player that beat out Messi record at acedemy . but then , everyhting is about Messi , so they had to destroyed that kid . poor kid .
STOP THE LIES!!!!!! Messi DIDNT Bully anyone around this time LOL! It was RONALDINHO who BULLIED Chelsea!!!
The commentators and highlights would disagree.
When people say you cannot compare eras, what they could mean is that Maradona had this treatment in every game for his whole career. Every great player had this treatment. They changed the rules, to make the game more clean and based on attack.
Tbh he didn't Bully Chelsea but this is a very good performance from an 18 year old.
Ronaldinho & Eto'o were more of a nightmare for us in '06.
Bullshit Messi was running around players like they were not there from his debut with Bracelona.
@@roryevans8575 not in this match.
This comp is like judging a player off stats - it doesn't tell the full story.
It's crazy how Messi has been getting nasty tackles since day 1 and yet he never got major injuries. If Neyma or Dembele would've had half those tackles their careers would've ended in their mid 20s
"But Messi is Fifa boy and protected, no one is allowed to tackle him."
Buy-out-clause: 101 mil. What a steal!
