  • When I think "metal", a cello is not the first instrument I think of. I obviously think of an electric guitar, being shredded on by a master, laying down the heavy riffs, and jamming out ripping solos. The good news is, Morgan Reid is that shredder. In this video I react to his song Grand Champ, which features Friedrich Thiele on cello. Can this Canadian bring home the bacon?

The cello sounded electric and I was wondering where the pickups were located. He is as good as YoYoMa.

Hard and heavy Not my cup of tea which is fine but Morgan is very talented and the cello addition was very cool!! Such a drastic change from the chaos before.

Not my kinda of music but technically nice guitar playing. But I really expected something else from the title, more like Apocalyptica with guitars, this cello part isn't Metal at all and the Metal part is instrumentwise pretty generic.

Yes, true, the cello is not technically in the "metal" part of the song. But I found it interesting nonetheless.

@@UnhingedReactions oh, it is, and it sounds amazing. Okay, that guy is from the Semperoper in Dresden, so certainly not a shabby musician. It's a top location here in Germany for classical music, they only take the best.
