My grandfather and I hunted with Plotts in 70’s, 80’s. They were something else!!! Tom and Nosey, best pair of dogs I ever had. The Plott is an awesome breed, they will not quit,.. good friend of mine , Bob Plott, has written a book called “Strike and Stay, tells about his family ( Plott) and the origin of the Plott hound
Awesome video Clayton! I’ve got my first Plott hound now and he’s just a pup! I’m excited to see what he does. He is Hicks and Cypress River bred. Thanks for the content, I’ve really enjoyed it!
Excited to see!! We live at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mnts along the James in Big Island, VA, for about 12 years. I worked with a Bobby Plott, who was descended from Henry. Sadly, he didn’t have a dog. But despite the village being all of 500 or so folks, there were two bear hunting clubs (for political reasons, sadly), and a few fine strains of Plotts. Those experience were the puddin’ full of proof, convincing me that they are the finest breed of hound. Has anyone hunted behind the Hanoverian Hounds of the Plott roots? Such fine looking dogs!
If I could find someone that consistently hunts within a reasonable driving distance I would. Do you know of any really well known or historical redbone Houndsman you’d have in mind?
I love that bark

I haven’t had a Plott but there’s no denying my mountain cur descended from them.
