That is so correct. Nigerians, home and abroad, will turn you to the bad guy for calling out all those bad behaviors - african time for everything, not following due process, worshipping corruption, mediocrity, and money.
If the people cannot change this mindset, the country will always be grounded.

This is a beautiful piece and analysis Aisha.
You and Rufai, Dr. APOKI, Mr. Dele and few others in Nigeria are the voices of conscience.
    We are pathetic people

Can't blame politicians if we don't come out to complain in larger sustained protests

No lies detected here. Nigerians are expats in suffering and smiling.

That is why when those that live abroad come home and complain about things, Nigerians will jump on them. They are so used to hardship and have refused to do something about the impunity imposed on them

Nigerians are also good at making excuses for bad behavior from politicians. Imagine some saying Edo State Governor inability to read numbers is a medical heath problem.

Nigeria has built a culture where people are intimidated and not allowed to ask questions about what they don't understand, right from the family level, and that is why the culture of impunity has been normalized in our society today.

When Ibvisited Nigeria last year I noticed that there was an acceptance of failure and mediocrity as standard. When I would point out the response I always got was ' You can't expect our standards to be like in UK'! I would ask why not? Why cant Nigerians have good standards of service or home made products. Its shocking the attitude and beliefs they have.

My sister the options are limited especially when it comes to health care. Recently l went to a state owned dental clinic and received unsatisfactory attention, the next day, l went to the federal dental clinic ...it was even worse...as l was afraid of the competence of the personel due to many factors...l had to leave there too. The only option is the private sector with its attendant higher costs and less qualified doctors as they say? Options are severely limited in this country . Just a pity really.😮

We are sentimentally wired. We are very good at accepting all manner of rubbish and we have perfected the act of accepting fate rather than calling out rubbish. It is a culture we have become accustomed to. Poor delivery, poor services, poor schools, poor banks, poor homes, poor policing, poor everything...it's so sad.

As a young person each time I try to have a conversation with old people of 65-70 and above before you know it religion will just come into play and that piss me off a lot, imagine having a conversation with old person about the war between Israel and Palestine the old person will tell you that it is a declaration from God that it is written inside the bible, that is the promise land God have given Israel to stay.😢 Try to bring up another argument thesame thing these old people have been so brainwashed with religion and they are affecting the young generations with it,stoping them from having a critical thinking mindset.😢

It doesn’t make any sense only if he can tell us where he belongs, then it will make sense. he was on the table along with ABATI condemning Kemi Badenoch some days ago, Abati even called Sunday Igboho illiterate, so if he was against those who complain about their past experience and they said it was bad to complain, what is he saying now? It doesn’t make any sense at all. Everyone should mute including Rufai Oseni.

Nigeria was created with d intention of grouping people under d banner of citizens but rather an entity happy slaves n so has been made to be accepted by d happy slaves (Nigerians). Nigeria is d country on earth where citizens provide water for themselves (boreholes),provide power (generator etc),security (local vigilante) just name it.
