I think it would be a good class A RV engine. Up to 34,000 lbs

This motor would be a good fit for GM`S new 2019 1500 pick-up truck & their Vans.

Paul Wicklund I agree, but since Detroit Diesel is now owned by Daimler it would more likely be put in a Ram pickup.

Daimler doesn't own Chrylser anymore though, FIAT does.

@@SwannBus heard dodge is dropping Cummins next year (as a rumor so far) so of they're looking for a replacement I sure hope they pick up Detroit, I would buy a Detroit Dodge in a heartbeat (if I had the money first though lol)

TheCheekyKnob we’re in interesting times. I don’t think Ram will part from Cummins. The “C” brand is too strong for Ram. Historically, Detroit was once partially owned by GM. However, I doubt these medium duty engines will go in any of the current HD non-commercial trucks.

@@SwannBus actually the DD5 is advertised that it could go in a pickup truck so there is potential there BUT I could see a company trying it out, like Toyota, Toyota have been wanting to make a 1 ton dually since 2008 but is having trouble due to regulations in the US on diesels but maybe they might change their minds if they talked to Detroit or something

It's not so much the engine anymore as it is the electronics, peripherals, emissions and so forth. Class 8 is where automobiles were in the late 70's and 80's. Won't regen, DPF plugged, DEF issues, EGR coolers and on and on. Wiring, J-1939 going rogue with changes in the humidity
