Alright guys, so for today's video I decided to do a double feature - back to back - original to cover! Not only do we check out Sleep Token's version of Chokehold, we listen to the Will Ramos cover as well. You have suggested both of these for quite awhile and since I was unfamiliar with Sleep Token's version, I figured I had to start there.

All the creatures on the video's from their newest album (take me back to eden) have lore behind them. Plus the original photos have numbers in the corner that when added up lead to coordinates on the world map. The Sleep Token rabbit hole goes really really deep if you look into it.

Hey Nikki , just as a caution ⚠️ since the members of Sleep Token are supposed to be anonymous and the ‘fanbase’ are pretty full on about the not knowing who the members of the band are ( that’s why the masks 🎭 on stage and minimal videos ) you will probably get a lot of nasty comments on naming the lead singer 🤦🏻♀️ like that.
Oof yeah, I will attempt to wipe that name from my memory. I highly recommend reuploading with some sort of spoiler warning since that was said without a pause. I do want Sleep Token to remain anonymous for me until the band publicly reveals their identities.

The lead singer of Sleep Token goes by the name Vessel, and it's not actually known who he really is. Leo Faulkner is the strongest theory of who he really is so far

Id rather listen to will anyday. Some of the songs have big lyric gaps and will takes full advantage of it
My problem with the original is that everything is soooo overproduced. Vessel got a good voice but it sounds lame produced like they do

Dude, that's not autotune. It's a vocoder, which is commonly used by soooo many artists (including vessel) especially in live settings where vocal layering is incredibly difficult without a back up singer closer to the same resonancy in pitch, or to add intensity within a chorus.
An autotune does exactly as the name implies, it finds the closest pitch to the vocals being sang and corrects it to that pitch, hense the choppiness.
A vocoder analyzes the pitch and emulates it on slightly varying frequancies to create a type of "chord" within the vocals being sang, hense the vibrating sound within the resonance.
🤘😁 just for slight edification. Vocoders are amazing tools for powerful vocals.
Side note:
Autotune + natural vocal vibrato = disaster

That's awesome hes got so much vocal support in his live settings, but it still didn't take from the fact he frequently uses a vocoder lol
For example: The entire track of Take Me Back To Eden was sung thru a vocoder, and it can be clearly heard in The Summoning during the funk verse starting with "My Love..." among sooo many other examples. You just have to know what to listen for, and it depends on the intensity the vocoder is set at. Listen for the micro-vibrational electonic sound within the vocals, as the emulated pitches that are in sync with the pitches being sung are in fact electronically produced. It's hard to tell sometimes because the notes being emulated are essentially in unison and in chord with the notes being sung, which oftentimes gives it a richer sound. Which is its purpose.
And if your read back, i wasnt referring to vessel using it in live settings i had said that many artist use it in live settings. Clearly vessel uses it in production, to each artist his own. Some use it live, some use it in chorus, some for more intense verses... whatever the reason they wish to use it, is purpose is just that. To add intensity and power.
