Newman got to keep the car from that crash, it's in his garage, in the condition that it was when they towed it off the track. He also has his helmet too, and the damage that was done to it in this crash was tremendous.
There were near-immediate changes to the cage structure after this incident, and if a change Ryan himself hadn't push for wasn't made previously, he wouldn't have been around to push the second set. As it was, the nose of the car that struck his intruded far enough into the window opening that it cracked his helmet... without the bar he'd asked for, it would have entered a lot further than that, and it wouldn't have needed all that much extra to change the history of the moment. So now there's extra triangulation, some gusseting, and a doubled bar that should prevent the B pillar from being able to cave in like it did here. Newman was indispensible to the sport for being a talented mechanical engineer who drove competitively enough to stay relevant and in the action, and was both somewhat unlucky and tough as a brick when it came to crashing out... could have a look at his own ruined car and say "that wasn't supposed to fail, let's revise things".
The scariest part of this live was they brought out these large black tarps to block the cameras and fans views. I thought he was dead for sure. There are now 2 diffrent roll bars named after him
6:55 from a hard hit to the outside wall, to a sideways-blowover, to a massive hit on the driver's side into the air and skidded across the tri-oval. Jesus. Glad he's alive after that. 7:55 Honestly that's when I started not liking Denny. Why are you doing burnouts!???
Denny didn't know the severity of the crash at the time. You have to remember that daytona is a massive place. Denny stated that had he have known how bad the crash was, he would not have done burnouts.
Keep in mind Denny wouldn't have known about Newman's condition if the team hadn't told him he most likely assumed it was just another crash and that everything was alright like so many had been
@2k_adriandagoat453 i know right? Like look at his demeanor once he found out in victory lane. Like he was so subdued in victory lane. Only there because he has to be.
I remember watching this live, me and my dad thought we just watched Newman die, I spent the entire next day at school looking for updates online. Please react to the 2020 finale radioactive now
Watching it live I really thought we lost Newman. He got hit in worst possible spot which was directly in the window net
Loving the radioactive videos. This one is a tear jerker with how the ending turned out.
I also sent over a couple of videos over to your IG.

Dang! he kept the car and the helmet. Insane.

Ryan Newman suffered a bruised brain

To this day people still cry about it when he literally didn’t know 😂

He didn't have a grasp yet, but you can tell he'd found out by the podium. That's not a celebratory mood you're seeing.
You should check out some Xfinity Series highlights as well.
