Yes. Yes, indeed it is. There are a hundred networks now with all sorts of edgy comedies, thrilling dramas, movies made by the networks, etc. Unless of course you find 1:45 (
Breaking Bad? Son's of Anarchy? Game of Thrones? Rick and Morty? Love the old stuff and get nostalgic for childhood in the 80's, but 'TV' has never been better!
@A.D. Highly disagree. Show me anything from TV 20 years ago that even comes close to the depth of 'Better Call Saul' it's absolutely brilliant. I go back to stuff I liked in the 80's and 90's all the time and often, not always, it doesn't hold up, or age well AT ALL.
@A.D. who said anything about being complex? I said 'depth' which is a sign of quality. The fact that you just said 'rot your mind' is a red flag that you're a bit of a curmudgeon and are not willing to like something new. I understand your nature now. We can agree to disagree.
I remember almost all of these commercials. it's like a time machine. most commercial compilations on youtube only have a couple of commercials that I remember. but this was literally 98% that I remember. thanks so much for posting!
I was born in 1986 but I seriously remember or find very familiar and nostalgic over more than half of these commercials. Takes me back that is for sure...

Definitely. I was born in 74. In the 80s we thirsted for the 50s. The people in media, back then, graduated in mid 50s so the tv and movies were 50s centric. Porky's, Peggy Sue Got Married, etc. Now it's much the same. In the 80s, in Jr. High, we had 50s day.
i was born in the early 70,s and was a teenager when these commercials were brand new in the late 80,s, and whats funny is even though i havent seen some of these commercials in 25-30 years, as soon as they come on i start singing along instantly, CARNATION INSTANT BREAKFAST....YOUR GONNA LOVE IT IN AN INSTANT!!!! lol, i guess the AD agencies earned theyre dough if 30 years later i can still remember it!! to funny!! Wow thanx for jolting the old memory bank!!! lol!!!
Cheryl Coomes It was a to-the-point era. No cellphones, more human interaction. People take family road trips, go out to places without hypnotized into a phone, and the hatefulness wasn’t nearly as strong as it is now. "Momma's got the Magic of Clorox 2!" Thanks again for these Vinnie, blast from the past! "So kiss a little longer, laugh a little longer, stay close a little longer..." :)
The john Denver post raisin bran commercial hit hard for me & to this day I continue to eat post raisin bran thanks for the memories & we miss you john 🕯🕯
I used to think those Magic Mushrooms actually shot out those little flower effects when you opened them. LOL. I was just a kid! I was disappointed when we finally got one and it just smelled good. Well, at least it smelled good!! I'm with some of the other posters, looking back at 80s CMs, it was really a "feel good" decade. Not as cynical or sarcastic as nowadays(which was a trend brought about by the mid-90s, I believe). And it's not to say there weren't bad things happening at that time, there were, but it didn't rob us of our tenderness.
I recognize most of these commercials. I came to the U.S. in 1984 and happened to be paying attention to them to learn some English. I was 12 years old at the time. It's unbelievable how the brain can pick up where it left off on an old commercial as if it was a few days I watched them.
Wow! The ads are worth watching again and again.I wasn't even born that time so it felt great to find out now how was the trend in fashion, food etc back then 😍💗
Didn't spark fear with me - it drew more anger if anything. Those of us that lived in that world hated this. As a kid the last thing you wanted to see on TV was this commercial to remind you of BS you had to go through until you got old enough to get the hell out.
Big kudos for taking the time to include a list of each ad's name with its time-stamp in the description box. I enjoy these ads, it's big nostalgia for a Gen X 80's guy who was around back then. I'm hunting for the commercial where a family is driving through rough woods, but the interior of the car is totally still, and the boy says "Here's your scalding hot cup of tea, Grandma" in the very smooth riding vehicle. I remember laughing so much when I first saw it but I have no idea what year it was. Thanks!

Literally 2 minutes in and there's a PSA for child-abuse. I get what you mean, but not everything was rainbows and sunshine then, either. That's what makes life, life.
+James Witstable People just didn't whine as much back then. People had it just as tough but the world was full of adults, not snot nosed man-children who whine and cry about everything. That's why Trump was voted in. People are sick and tired of whiny brats throwing temper tantrums about why "it's not fair".
voice2voiceless No, people indeed did not whine as much. Pathetic man-children and woman-children weren't able to connect with other pathetic people as they do now. People felt shame for being pathetic and didn't voice it. People did not live with their parents into their 30's and whine about "social justice" out of boredom. Men and women grew up and became responsible earlier in life.
Modern advertisers have forgotten the nostalgic staying power of the original jingle, instead, they're inundating commercials with old pop songs that no one will ever associate with a specific product.
@@michellem5647 that's why we need it back. It might actually offend people to the point of thinking about what they are saying to their kids! At least, I would hope it would!

6:43 the voice of the great Lester Rawlins, one of the all-time best commercial voice-over artists. He was probably best known, at least on the East Coast, for his Dunkin' Donuts voice-overs.
1:45 I tell younger people all the time that there were ads/PSAs on TV teaching parents how not to be shitty! LOL! It's hilarious to think of now. I saw things changing with Babies R Us and a trend of parents (my generation) doing things differently than the previous generation with painting up the new baby's room while in utero, etc. Finally a generation that WANTED their non-accidental kids. Anyone remember the PSA on TV "It's 10 o'clock. Do you know where your kids are?" I always found that one particularly amusing. (I'm born in 1970, in case anyone wants to know to understand my comment better)

I actually get tears in my eyes when I watch this,. i think about being at home from school and when I was a kid.
I honestly was just about to write the exact same thing, but thought, "No...nobody would relate". Here I sit misty-eyed.....
Yep
Sad!

20 minutes of commercials, about the standard length of an ad break today on US TV haha!
