      I was wondering if enough flow could be generated if you made two ponds at different elevations with a water fall in between, that the ram pump could feed the upper pond and keep the flow going. Might be an interesting test for you.

      Can I drain my home basement with this system if the basement is below the pump level, or does the pump need to be at or below basement level?

    One of the great things about the way you made this video other than great content, is that you were talking about the pump and how it works as you were preparing to install it.For any additional information or visuals needed, you inserted a short clip about making the part.
    You could give lessons to all the guys who video the entire process of cutting a pc of pipe and then holding it up to the camera for a full minute showing all of the sides. You nailed it perfectly.

    I watched a clip of making Ram Pump from Thailand. I saw the effort. And your talents, I really appreciate it. Another clip that is worth watching. I hope there will be more new clips coming out for you to watch. I appreciate it.And if possible, use larger PVC pipes and replace the check valve with a larger one. Air compressor that does that Grow it by 4 to 6 inches. It may increase the water pressure up the hill to get a large amount of water accordingly. Go up and try it. I appreciate it again.

    For your filter, ditch the drill and saw slots in the pickup pipe for a simple filter without the need of an extra screen. I recommend a hacksaw width blade and saw about half way through the pipe with each slot

    • @LandtoHouse

      I worked with that type intake filter 2 years ago. It works well but takes 4 times as long to make. Perhaps a table saw with sled jig would make it faster.

    You guys did good. I like the fact you put in the five gallon bucket to get rid of the air which helps the check valve cycle the way it should. I've seen a lot of videos on ram pumps, but your the first to use the bucket and it makes total sense. I've been a plumber for 48 years and I like learning new things. No I haven't built a ram pump yet, but I plan to.

    • @LandtoHouse
      @LandtoHouse  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you. I have over 100 videos on the ram pump and the bucket filter has been a lifesaver.

    • @LandtoHouse
      @LandtoHouse  3 роки тому +1

      Yes indeed! Air in the drive pipe can be one of the most annoying parts to the ram pump. The bucket idea has worked well in several installs.

      @@LandtoHouse the check value your using is what we call a swing check valve, the spring-loaded check would not work on this system. I wonder how well the spring-loaded check would work if you take out the springs, it may be a little more efficient.

    • @LandtoHouse
      @LandtoHouse  3 роки тому

      Yes I made a video showing that the pvc spring valve is not heavy enough for a waste valve. (Spring removed)
      The pvc spring valve does work well with spring removed it just takes a lot of time to remove when making pumps for shipping.

    Dave here from Water Powered Pumps Facebook group. This week, I hauled by Rokon 2 wheel drive motorcycle and cart, my Land to House 1 1/4 inch ramp pump that I purchased this spring to a somewhat remote location on a creek that passes through our property to begin replacing an old ditch flood irrigation approach. I made a pond in the creek to cover the filter made as in the video and now have 55 feet of 1 1/4 inch PVC schedule 40 drive pipe leading to the pump. I estimate that I have 2 feet of head, but didn't think of disconnecting the pump and flexing the drive pipe up for a measure - I'll do that and report back.
    I plan on temporarily disconnecting the filter to see if I'm restricting the water flow down the drive pipe - water is clear so not much of an issue with collecting debris.
    The 3/4 inch output pipe goes through 4 feet of PVC and 100 feet of 3/4 inch polypipe to another 4 feet of 3/4 PVC sticking up through sage brushes to temporarily support the pipe with a mini-wobbler on top with the smallest light blue nozzle. I estimate the wobbler is 8 feet above the pump and plan on bringing in my surveyor's transit to get a better estimate. The mini-wobbler with the smallest nozzle spreads a 9 foot radius circle of water which I've let run for a day at each location in the meadow area. Now looking at ways to expand to better irrigate the 4 acres.
    Ideas - more ram pumps - plenty of water in the stream. If I could hook up a solar sprinkler control, I could run 7 sprinklers - one per day - each week from each ram pump. I think I can get a little more head by raising the dam and extending the drive pipe 5 to 10 more feet down the stream - not much additional fall after that. Explore larger ram pumps - anyway to bribe Land to House to consider a 2 inch version? I'd be willing to prepay.
    Can the 1 1/4 inch Land to House ram pump be shipped to a P.O. Box in north west Colorado? If so, any idea the delivery time for this time of year? Now I'm into trying to figure out the water distribution system given water from one and probably several ram pumps and maybe also other water powered pumps.
    Thank you for all you have done to help my project, I'm collecting pictures, but haven't had time to post. What really helped me was being able to start with your ram pump that actually worked. Once a week, we come into a small town that has a post office, library with internet and a weekly rodeo - bought lots pipe and fittings to help distribute the water from the ram pump and definitely need more wobblers.

    Brilliant, learnt something new here, the wooden crate will rot out in a few months if that depending on the timber, you can treat them with a mix of diesel and old engine oil, brush it on, get it soaked into all nooks and crannies and it will last for years, the diesel will evaporate and the oils should not leach out, you will have to repeat the process after 3 to 6 months then it will last for years, or use something other than a cheap arse crate
