- Full Ram Pump Install for a 1-1/4" system. In this video my friend David and I install a large ram pump in his creek to bring water to his cold dip tub. The supply line is 1-1/4" pvc bringing water down 3 feet of head to a filter bucket. This bucket allows silt and debris to settle down on the bottom and not enter into the pump. The drive pipe is approximately 30 feet long. The pump is working on 3 feet of head pressure and is lifting water to 15 to 20 feet.

I was wondering if enough flow could be generated if you made two ponds at different elevations with a water fall in between, that the ram pump could feed the upper pond and keep the flow going. Might be an interesting test for you.
Ok
Ok
Lol, I just looked up how to build a ram pump, and I built one myself for 40 bucks instead of buying one for 160
Nice! I have several videos showing how to build them on the channel.
I am 6 years old and in South Africa and I love your channel and my nana does too thank you
I’ve watched your ram pump videos over and over again. I made my own following your guide. Thank you so much I now have water going into my tank. No power or petrol. Very proud mum of my first ram pump!! Look forward to more from you. Cheers 🍻 from New Zealand 😁👍
Can I drain my home basement with this system if the basement is below the pump level, or does the pump need to be at or below basement level?
@@rbbartho1 no you can't. You have to have flowing water for a ram pump to work.
L😊@@rbbartho1
Your details and explanations are much appreciated! Thank you so much!
Happy to finally see someone who uses Water Pump pliers in the right direction
haha yes. It has only taken years to get it right.
Spin your fittings when pressing them on. Prevents streaks in the glue that can leak.👍
Excellent video and plans! Well worth it - thank you!!
Wow...i was amazed with your ramp pump installation.
Phew! Eventually found this kind of pipe the little metal ones I used to see on hills in UK long long time ago - somewhat similar function. Thanks and cheers!
I love ram pump technology. Thanks!
Good for Sharing, We used to made and sold it in Sydney under John Dank products in Hydaulic Ram, Billabong 2 or 3 or 4 etc., I did enjoyed to make some parts of it in 1977-1979.Good Australian Products,
Very insightful . Nice to have a good neighbor for each of you . God Bless !!!
Always nice to have a good friend to do all of the work while you film it huh?
I know! He actually asked to do the work to better understand how things go together.
Hands on is always a great way to learn
Thank you very much. I plan to build one for 1) filter the swimming pool 2) sun warm it 3) water the corn field with the waste. Wish me luck
For your filter, ditch the drill and saw slots in the pickup pipe for a simple filter without the need of an extra screen. I recommend a hacksaw width blade and saw about half way through the pipe with each slot
I worked with that type intake filter 2 years ago. It works well but takes 4 times as long to make. Perhaps a table saw with sled jig would make it faster.
This new learning amazes me, Sir Bedevere!
Woooosh skills is wealthy! Keep it up gents, from Namibia 🇳🇦
This only lasts as long as the creek is running. Good video. Thanks
From Thailand, I loved your Ram Pump.
Thanks so much very interesting and will come in handy at our cabin. Awesome
BRILLIANT! 👏 Thank you for sharing!
device has good outlet flow in comparison with other analogues with the same size and height difference. good work, guys! I like this device so much! I can listen it beat music for hours and watch for completely for free pumping water right thereto, whither need.
Dave here from Water Powered Pumps Facebook group. This week, I hauled by Rokon 2 wheel drive motorcycle and cart, my Land to House 1 1/4 inch ramp pump that I purchased this spring to a somewhat remote location on a creek that passes through our property to begin replacing an old ditch flood irrigation approach. I made a pond in the creek to cover the filter made as in the video and now have 55 feet of 1 1/4 inch PVC schedule 40 drive pipe leading to the pump. I estimate that I have 2 feet of head, but didn't think of disconnecting the pump and flexing the drive pipe up for a measure - I'll do that and report back.
I plan on temporarily disconnecting the filter to see if I'm restricting the water flow down the drive pipe - water is clear so not much of an issue with collecting debris.
The 3/4 inch output pipe goes through 4 feet of PVC and 100 feet of 3/4 inch polypipe to another 4 feet of 3/4 PVC sticking up through sage brushes to temporarily support the pipe with a mini-wobbler on top with the smallest light blue nozzle. I estimate the wobbler is 8 feet above the pump and plan on bringing in my surveyor's transit to get a better estimate. The mini-wobbler with the smallest nozzle spreads a 9 foot radius circle of water which I've let run for a day at each location in the meadow area. Now looking at ways to expand to better irrigate the 4 acres.
Ideas - more ram pumps - plenty of water in the stream. If I could hook up a solar sprinkler control, I could run 7 sprinklers - one per day - each week from each ram pump. I think I can get a little more head by raising the dam and extending the drive pipe 5 to 10 more feet down the stream - not much additional fall after that. Explore larger ram pumps - anyway to bribe Land to House to consider a 2 inch version? I'd be willing to prepay.
Can the 1 1/4 inch Land to House ram pump be shipped to a P.O. Box in north west Colorado? If so, any idea the delivery time for this time of year? Now I'm into trying to figure out the water distribution system given water from one and probably several ram pumps and maybe also other water powered pumps.
Thank you for all you have done to help my project, I'm collecting pictures, but haven't had time to post. What really helped me was being able to start with your ram pump that actually worked. Once a week, we come into a small town that has a post office, library with internet and a weekly rodeo - bought lots pipe and fittings to help distribute the water from the ram pump and definitely need more wobblers.
Thats kind of how a heart works 👌🏾
Good clean job. Hat's off to your work.
This is a great video. I would suggest you use steel vs plastic as it will last longer.. I have built several ram pumps so I know what I am talking about. The swing gate valves usually last a year but they do wear out.
Great project and its so cool being able to pump water with no electricity or gas..
Loving all the useful information!!!
I watched a clip of making Ram Pump from Thailand. I saw the effort. And your talents, I really appreciate it. Another clip that is worth watching. I hope there will be more new clips coming out for you to watch. I appreciate it.And if possible, use larger PVC pipes and replace the check valve with a larger one. Air compressor that does that Grow it by 4 to 6 inches. It may increase the water pressure up the hill to get a large amount of water accordingly. Go up and try it. I appreciate it again.
That’s just pretty amazing. I love science.
Exilent , interesting only 1 gate valve .
I'll be using a rampump to deliver spring water through a four 55gal barrel gravel sand charcoal filtration system .
Wow nice setup working there
I love the sorounding its pretty cool wow
lucky-having natural source.gravity heigjt to function the ram pump to a certain ht.great effort.tq.
Very informative and interesting, i will try and build one for myself...
thankyou for share idea its free water i love it
Great job ❤❤❤
Oh, gives me an idea to pump it to a rain barrel then overflow into the tub. That way I have a nice storage of fresh clean water 👍
What a good thing to use in life, thanx
One of the great things about the way you made this video other than great content, is that you were talking about the pump and how it works as you were preparing to install it.For any additional information or visuals needed, you inserted a short clip about making the part.
You could give lessons to all the guys who video the entire process of cutting a pc of pipe and then holding it up to the camera for a full minute showing all of the sides. You nailed it perfectly.
With over 1200 videos I have done plenty of those slow video clips in the past. I am happy that this one was faster paced.
That is a nice solution for that creek at its current flow rate. If I did that in my creek it would disappear a few miles down stream after the first storm
Haha yes.a lot of people have to mount the pump on the bank and pipe the waste water back to the creek.
You guys did good. I like the fact you put in the five gallon bucket to get rid of the air which helps the check valve cycle the way it should. I've seen a lot of videos on ram pumps, but your the first to use the bucket and it makes total sense. I've been a plumber for 48 years and I like learning new things. No I haven't built a ram pump yet, but I plan to.
Thank you. I have over 100 videos on the ram pump and the bucket filter has been a lifesaver.
Yes indeed! Air in the drive pipe can be one of the most annoying parts to the ram pump. The bucket idea has worked well in several installs.
@@LandtoHouse the check value your using is what we call a swing check valve, the spring-loaded check would not work on this system. I wonder how well the spring-loaded check would work if you take out the springs, it may be a little more efficient.
Yes I made a video showing that the pvc spring valve is not heavy enough for a waste valve. (Spring removed)
The pvc spring valve does work well with spring removed it just takes a lot of time to remove when making pumps for shipping.
Interesting addition. What is the name of the fitting that grabs the 1" pipe in place in the bucket? Can't quite figure it out from the video. Thanks!
that is a super pro install, thanks for sharing. I would consider locking that bucket in place better, storms do come ;)
Thanks! Flooding is an issue for sure. On larger creeks I recommend that the pump be lifted out of the water some.
thank you the knowledge is very useful ..
hopefully healthy and successful always..
greetings from the anak tambak :)
YES 👏 unseals are the best thing since sliced bread. Love em
They sure are. I have used at least 30 of them in the past couple years.
Quite helpful!! Thank You
Wow! great.. its amazing.. keep up the good eork guys.. god bless..
Mis respetos y felicitaciones. LA NECESIDAD ES LA MADRE DE LOS INVENTOS.
Ustedes han creado de una manera sencilla y económica un método para proveer agua a un lugar alto.
Is it called ram pump or ramp pump?
Thank you ! God bless!!!
Cool guys, you can make a pool for summer time :) with fresh water from river zero $$$ amazing idea., Cheers from South Brazil
Teşekkürler, çok güzel çalışma ve paylaşım olmuş 👏
Oh... wuoooooow Kereeeeeen
Terimakasih ilmunya um ...smogga bermanfaaat dan sukses di selalu, Amiiiin....👍👍👍👍💪💪💪😍😍😍💯
Excellent concept vision demonstrations
Thank you!
I will make too, thanks for this idea
Wow...💪 from Indonesia...
I've heard of the ram pump from mother earth news probably 38 yrs ago still haven't built one yet but will next project. Thanks!
nice job explaing system install
he must be very pleased with this turnout. That's a lot of water per day into his bathtub.:) Keep these video's coming. Very interesting.
Yes he was pleased!
For as long as it last..
Ingenioase pompele tale.

WOW so cool! without eclectic
A great video, I wish I know this 40 year ago.
Nice invention sir..
Watching from UAE
Nice job 👏
Thank you.
Very good equipment for land need water from forest
Thank you so mach for video
Thanks from your learn
Amazing!
Amazing ideas.
What about using one of these for a big swimming pool would save lots not having to run an electric pump so much
Di tunggu Episode selanjutnya....yessss...👍👍👍🤩🤩🤩
Muchas gracias.
Thank you verry much sir
I love this
If you take that little o-ring out of your quick coupler and put a finger full of Vaseline around it then reinstall the o-ring it helps to keep it in when you have the pieces separated
Amazing idea
Maşaallah maşaallah çok güzel oldu eline sağlık usta inşaallah şu kenarında bir tarla alırsam bende yapacağım
Love the video! Hope y'all change out the tire that's weighing that intake screen down. They leech chemicals into the water. Probably not the best thing to be doing a cold dip into after a hot sauna. Still love the video and keep up the great work!
There seemed to be a lot of garbage in that stream already. Perhaps he wasn't really concerned about chemicals.
Somewhere about 10:03 he said "If that pressure wave finds an air pocket It is going to think that's the source!" lol. Nice video, though.
Good job.
Really good work brother
Thank you.
Nice ideas i like
Супер спасибо 😍😍😀👍👍 интересная идея 👍👍👍😀👍😀😀👍
Say I use bigger pipping and pump would that create more pressure and water flow ?
have a good idea.
Very informative video. Thank you. I need your help. I have land in Hilly area. I have a bore wel 90 feet deep on the top of the hill. I have prepared some land for cultivation which is 20 feet down the hill. Can I use the bore wel water with free energy. Land is 300 feet near the hill (water bore wel)
Hi, may I know if I have a 1 meter height tank , say 1 cubic meter worth of water and have a outlet pipe right at the bottom of that tank.
Can I place the ramp pump right from the tank outlet pipe and consider to have a 1meter drop? The water from the tank should be able to keep the pump running and bring the water up?
Thanks.
I,m from iraq /teacher physic ( I like ours ideas to bringing the Water from down to Up ) it is fantastic
I know it generally doesn't matter, but for a 5x pressure increase, any idea what the ratio of waste water to delivered water is?
Good luck guys nice job
Thank you for watching.
Add helical screw conveyor to the delivery pipe dia 10 mm with a check valve at the start of delivery pipe dia 10 mm. This will reduce wastage during pumping through ram mechanism and increase dia of ram 2 Times then previous 1/14"
in my experience, is that a 'garden hose' leaves a very unpleasant taste in the water.
Suggest using a hose made for drinking water
Some have said that black poly pipe is not the best for drinking water either - do you know? Thanks.
You are right about the garden hose as it contains arsenic. Walmart sells a food grade hose in its RV section of the store. It is not expensive, just watch that you never kink it as once it kinks, it leaves an impression, and from then on, it rekinks very easily. Just unroll it and straighten as soon as possible. Then, recoil it in large loops to store. I tie the circle of hose in two or three places to keep the loops together. This prevents the hose from twisting as you carry it from place to place.
I don't think he's drinking it, it will be connected to the cool down tank outside of sauna. He mentioned fresh water at the beginning, may have mentioned watering plants, but they never mentioned drinking it, but good point, I remember drinking out of the hose as a kid and it wasn't great. That was before there were many more nasty compounds invented; good to hear warning about the arsenic also.
Lead is still used in garden hose.
Well, of course! RV hoses for drinking water and/or PEX pipes for safe drinking water.
nice idea
That is awsome!
Well done
Thank you.
"Normally you leave it for 24 hours."
I learned that lesson the hard way, changing out a hot water heater. No fun seeing hours worth of work go up in 120° F water spraying out of your new water heater!
OH NO. That is not good. As it turns out the instructions are correct on the can haha
Ya I learned that long time ago . Anytime I install a water heater I always turn temp down on the heater to prevent that .
No wonder, PVC is not rated nor allowed for hot water.
nice one bro.
Pretty dang cool
Good job
Very great presentation and insight. Do you have any reference or tests made - pressure tank 3 " pipe as (f) of lenght. What is the best size of 3" pipe length for the pressure tank?
The suction against the intake will be a constant source of maintenance, especially during fall. Says this 15 year hydro electric geek.
