This is definitely my favorite Dany moment of the entire series... mostly because she completely outsmarted and outplayed everyone... including her advisors. And she conquered Astaphor with no help from anyone (except maybe Drogon). It's her most badass moment.
Uhm, no help? Really? Even her advisors who were clueless caught unto the plsn. And if the Unsullied had said "screw this, we aint going against masters," what Drogon would have done then? Burn everyone. It was a risky move, but she played it well. And yes, she had help in executing the plan.
@@Phizzo4real did I totally miss when her advisors helped her or even caught on to the plan? What is the timestamp cause I completely missed that scene 🤔
@@Phizzo4real First of all, none of her advisors helped with her plan. That was all her. Second of all, Dany was extremely smart because she knew having soldiers who actually WANT to fight for her is much more powerful than soldiers who are forced to. Also you really think the Unsullied would've just up and left? To where? They had no families, no loved ones as they were taken away from them as babies, forced into slavery as soldiers. Dany was the very first person who gave them a choice, something they didn't even knew existed for them, of course they were gonna fight for her. After all, fighting is the only thing they really knew. Aside form that conquering Astaphor simultaniously strengthened her Khalassar because she's showing her power and as we all know, the Dothraki only follow the strong.
I really like you guys as reactors. You give just the right amount of feedback and analysis during the episode. Some reactors talk and talk over important dialog and others just sit there like wooden statues. Kudos to you all.
Indont like that either. The reactors who just talk non-stop be acting for the cameras. There is no way you watch anything like that. "Reaction," not chit chatting and emoting because there is a camera. I hate reactors who just watch too, but i much prefer that to overreaction because there is a camera.
That ending scene is one of my favourie scenes in the show. Dany's the absolute Goat and my favourite character in the show. Great reactions as always 👏
So I was channel surfing on a lazy, rainy Sunday when your new Thrones reaction dropped. This is even better than Saturday morning cartoons! Thank you :)
Beric Dondarrion breaks down in to a few things: Beric has 2 meanings, depending on the etymological source: one is proto-indo European meaning Grain Farm The other is hebrew, meaning Lightning Dondarrion is relating to Thunder (like Donner, one of Santa's reindeer) Symbolically, he's a Storm God, with hints of Green Man symbolism - he dies, like the Green Man, at the end of Summer, and in the books has similar symbolism to the Night's Watch. It is theorized the original Night's Watchmen were Green Seers, like Bran, ressurected, like Beric and able to withstand the cold, possibly not need food, and go on living practically forever, like , whomst we see help Bran in later seasons, and who also helps Sam in the books.
For Igli: This episode didn't clearly illustrate it, but Dany had her dragons and the Unsullied that she just purchased kill all of the masters of any kind. All slaves were, effectively, freed in Astapor. She leaves behind a council of 3 men to run the city and they do...until they don't. It's hard to make the case for freeing people by obliterating their social structure and then taking off. Wishful thinking about what will arise in the power vacuum you just created is certainly not leadership. It's hubris.
Definitely so much to unpack in this episode, but I want to focus on something other than the obvious amazing sequence where Dani gets the Unsullied.. One phrase in Igli's notes jumped out at me and touches on what I wanted to discuss. Varys and his "patience for revenge." So extremely astute to pick up on a first watch. That Varys scene with the sorcerer gives the biggest clue into Varys' character, motives and plans about what he really wants, and he is absolutely playing the long game..obviously, I can't speculate too much for possible spoiler reasons, however, I'm hoping it might provoke some thought beyond the basic plot. Who is Varys, really, and more importantly, what truly drives him and what does he want?? Such a fascinating character for me, because the answers aren't easy to puzzle out..at least for me.. Also, can't pass up commenting on this episode that the actor who plays Karl Tanner (the night watch man that instigated the mutiny,) is an amazing actor.. Finally, Brienne may be from the Sapphire Isles, but its Igli who has the magic sapphire sweater!! Lol
Honestly, I don't understand the point of muting for HOTD spoilers. If you had watched this when it came out, you wouldn't have known it was a spoiler for a future show. HOTD is a prequel, so the end result is supposed to be known. It doesn't affect enjoyment in slightest.
In defense of Igli GRRM says you can pronounce things however you like really. He personally pronounces Dothraki quite differently then how the show does.
yeah just like in our world, some people pronounce things differently, even proper names and that doesn't mean one way or the other is wrong. some people call me Meh-gan, some say May-gan... neither are wrong (kind of like Ay-gon and Egg-on)

My most shocking was originally Jon when the show was airing. It was almost two summers later for that season and Kit had SHAVED and been saying he was grateful for his time but those that read the books knew this day would come. Gior Mormont is definitely not the greatest man lmao. He is a great and honorable man, however overall under his leadership they have yet to kill a single white walker despite using crasters keep for refuge, meanwhile he’s allowing craster to continually feed them new white walkers essentially, which is just going to make their job that much more difficult when the ling night comes. What’s so important that can be achieved by using crasters as a refuge while also allowing him to give his sons? Not really anything of note, they aren’t reducing the walkers or even fighting them, they’re literally letting them nest and ‘procreate’
