The same happened to me when I got out of the military and realized I had married a fucked up woman. Everything was gravy when my life was busy dealing with military stuff to include deployments, and my mindset was mostly "if it broke, don't fix it". But once I got out and was able to spend more "free minded" time around my wife, I began to see just how fucked up, evil, and selfish she was.
