How I got into OMA

- Have you ever wondered why OMA has been coveted as one of the most desirable places to work for aspiring architects?
The influence OMA had in the field of architectural design is hard to overstate. From CCTV, Seattle Public Library, curating the 2014 Venice Biennial, and reeling in avant-garde architectural theories via enormous books Rem Koolhaas and OMA have been raising the public's eyebrows with striking designs for almost 5 decades.
Perhaps even more impressive than that, Rem Koolhaas is said to be responsible for the creation of over 40 practices worldwide. There's even a term for companies founded by former OMA employees - "Baby Rems" or "OMA babies." So naturally, many young ambitious architects aim to get a taste of that secret hot sauce. And this is my story of how I got into OMA.
Some of the aforementioned figures include:
Joshua Prince-Ramus - RE
Bjarke Ingels - BIG
Zaha Hadid
Winy Maas and Jacob van Rijs - MVRDV
Jeannie Gang - Studio Gang
Alejandro Zaera-Polo - Foreign Office Architects
Ole Scheeren

I wish more Architects are Humble like you. I have come across many young architects who are either working in successful offices or are in top Graduate schools, but none are willing to share their experiences, let alone help others in achieving the same.
Thank you for this!!
🙏
Hey there, I'm so flattered to hear that. As a content creator yourself, you're doing the public a great service too! In behalf of others, I thank you as well : )

Can u please make a video on famous firms in Asian countries, particularly Taiwan, japan nd Singapore
Very insightful,
Can you share how or where you found all those competitions?
Absolutely. I used competition aggregation websites such as bustler, competition.archi, and e-architects!
@@ArchiHacks Allright, Got to see that now. Cheers!
Great timing for the video I’m currently interning at Nicolas Laisne in Paris and despite not being my first job or only job right now. I’m curious how would you get around the fact that most internship roles at top firms pay very little and it’s a struggle to live abroad especially when more money comes out of your pocket. Nonetheless they are imperative for reaching the heights ppl aspire
That's an impressive achievement! Paris companies are known to be competitive and prestigious. If you can get by there, I'm sure you'll be able to elsewhere too! From my experience, all companies cover basic living expenses, so aside from airfare, I found myself breaking even. This is of course with very little responsibilities like dependents. I'm sure you can do it if you set your mind to it!
Can you share how or where you found all those competitions?
Absolutely. I used competition aggregation websites such as bustler, competition.archi, and e-architects!
Can u make a video on any one of your competition project and explain design thought process ?
Absolutely! Which aspect of competition would you like to learn about?

Oma Oma in today’s Oma we’re gonna be looking over that one Oma from second grade that kept eating
How old were you when you did ur first internship? ...kinda nervous about if i have enough experience.
I don't think age is a barrier in learning, but I was in my early 20s when I got my first internship!
Wow did you actually worked at their Netherlands office? Don’t they speak their local language there?
The office was very international so it was really no problem! In addition, Dutch people are fluent English speakers so I had no problem at all 😮
Archi Hacks I see! Man I’m so jealous, how come you stopped working there? Do you prefer smaller practices?
if you don't mind me asking, how old are you?
Unless you're Rem, why would you want to work at OMA? :) You get to say "I work at OMA" at the expense of what you actually do day to day
wait no way the "how i got into google as a programmer" video format has bled into starchitecture career obsessed mfs
How old are you? Are you master degree licence architect? You look too young.
