That's called pinioning the wing. You remove the last joint of each wing, which is where the first set of primary flight feathers grow from. It is a "surgery" but if it makes you feel better about it, the procedure is usually done when the bird is very young, and it doesn't cause them long term discomfort.
I got about 6 a few days ago and anytime I go near the pen they flush upwards into the roof of the pen smacking their heads.. Will clipping the wings prevent that?

So, I am debating on raising some quail myself, since the wife loathes chickens. I have a backyard similar to yours, from the appearance in the video; it is fully fenced in with a 6 foot privacy fence. So, I am curious, with the kind of wing pruning you did in the video, are the quail contained in the back yard? I want the quail to be able to wander the yard, and keep pests off my raised beds. The problem I keep seeing from online posts, is that unlike chickens, quails won't necessarily return to a coop at night once they wander off. So if I let them roam the yard, I will have to find a way to contain them.
Final Snipe they eventually fall out and will grow back. You should check their wings periodically to see if the flight feathers have grown back. Once they fall out, they can grow back pretty quickly.

they are not nearly as hard to catch as a flighty chicken, they are just smaller and, since they don't really fly, will find places to hide.

Only cut one wing the idea of clipping is to set them off balance or they learn to fly again and yes they can grow back
So can you clip there wings when they are new born or no never had a quail before and was wondering
