Thanks for the video! It was great watching your honest first reaction to Mode 3 :) As we chatted about on the cut-out: The cut-out comes from a stock battery protection. We're detuning the firmware just a little bit to try and push this feature out of normal riding scenarios - users will have update instructions to get the firmware files (and any further updates/upgrades) as soon as they're available. This same update process is what enables you to upgrade the controller if/when you upgrade the battery, making the entire system fully customizable.
I'm sure it doesn't help that the cells are a little older, and the voltage sag puts the BMS that much closer to the cutoff point under load. What I often do is set the battery low voltage management in the controller to start at a higher voltage, for example at 46v on a 52v battery. I have 5 batteries in my regular rotation (I like to experiment!), and if I do happen to use one of my smaller batteries that experience more of a voltage drop under load, the management acts as a safety and smoothly reduces power, keeping the battery in the safe zone. You guys are doing great work, and I expect that thousands will be doing this conversion 👍👍
@@Altema22 thank you for your comment! Yes, this is definitely exacerbated by the lifetime of the cells. We do indeed have customers who exhibit this problem, and others who have never experienced a cutout. It comes with the territory of exploring new performance boundaries :) Our new kits will ship with a detuned firmware, but customers will get access to a members page with the older higher power firmware for them to try if they wish 🤘⚡
I appreciate the video! This is really exciting because, just like you, this is exactly what I wanted for my RX. I don't want to do a conversion and lose the pedal assist. I can't wait for them to do the light module update to it and it would be perfect for NYC!
How is this any different than stock. I get 31 top speed on the S2 stock version. Your averaging 32 on flat and 35 going downhill. Since you missed the last two updates, I can see why you might feel a difference in torque but we got the torque upgrade last update. This controller is good for people who have run out of warranty or if super 73 have run out of controllers I guess. Always good to have an alternative supplier.
This barely makes sense for existing super73 owners who have already overpaid for a bike and now need to figure out how to get more value, solution: spend $500 to get a bit more torque and a few more mph top speed? As for those who don't own one, there are plenty of better stock options that smoke the 73 even with this upgrade. Super73 has been riding the hype train for years with zero innovation, it's mind boggling how people continue to over pay for looks when components are all sub-standard compared to today's competition. To each their own, ride safe!
Damn man, you flatlanders have no idea what those of us in hilly areas actually deal with. I have 9% incline football field just to get in and out of my area.... 17mph on a hill is such unhappiness.
Does the pedal assist still work . I just don't want throttle only . You didn't really mention the pedal assist I do enjoy pedalling and it helps save battery . You didn't take of from a standstill pedal only .My thumb gets a little tyred sometimes on big rides and I just pedal only to give it a rest .
@@supersheena at that price the controller should be programmable to the user to their riding style. I know that specific controller can take a much higher voltage battery but not sure if the company deleted that feature on their controller programming map. Does your stock lights & pas work with the new controller?
I’ll admit I might live under a rock because with me owning my RX since it came out, I haven’t come across a mod that’ll add speed/torque with the stock motor/battery. Pedal assist still works but lighting not yet. As a pavement princess/street rider I heavily use my lighting and horn. So in order to help Handlworks with future updates, I sent them a spare lighting setup I had around
A plug and play kit that adds a higher top speed and torque for $600 also discounted with my code? Sounds like a good deal and much easier than doing a overhaul upgrade to me

I did the mid drive add on my bike and thought I would lose all of my pedal assist, but I forgot that the Mid Drive has pedal assist to!

Significant torque upgrade and top speed. I’m now able to hit 35 on flat with no issues
So happy for you glad this worked. I also appriciate your video review!
Glad it was helpful!
Was it the bms getting over worked and cutting out?

Good review. Are there any wires coming out left unplug from the controller for future updates for the lights, horn, turn signals?
I have had the same problem with another e-bike, and i changed the display and it doesn't cut-off anymore, it wasn't the battery.

Super 73 or p-51?
My Revv 1 stock on lightning ⚡ mode goes lil bit faster flat roads I hit 38

I don’t think it’s worth the extra stress on the engine and battery for a couple of mph
The motor can handle it. But my battery being so old cant so I send it off to get upgraded

Way too expensive for what you get for performance. There's better choices out there.
I'm hoping they eventually bring the price down.
