- Kena bridge of spirits Finally releases across PS5, PS4, PC today. This exceptional new game from Ember Lab is already making a big impression on the gaming market. The teams first game is a stunner, utilising Unreal Engine 4 confidently across all formats. The framerate on the Slim is bery bad. Stuttering all the time.
It doesn't run well and textures are so low quality on ps4 but the game is so good that those don't matter at all
It's a lot of fun and at the highest difficulty also brutally hard. Took me off guard and I'm struggling more than I ever did with Soulsborne games 😳
I can’t imagine taking on the Bosses with the hardest difficulty since they’re already pretty difficult on Normal since they hit so hard 0_0
robraze2000 tried to go in on the hardest corrupted taro had me switching down
Last two bosses are brutally hard for different reasons. Struggled more than Orphan of Kos in Bloodborne
Very impressive. PlayStation gamers need to get behind this game and this studio.
The game is fantastic, especially for a $40 game that includes crossbuy. Got it on two ps5s and a ps4 for $14 apiece! And it's gorgeous, runs smooth, super adorable characters, great art and level design. Awesome throwback title for a new gen. I still put Returnal at GotY, but this game is up there almost as good as Ratchet and Clank. Top 5 for the year no doubt, and top 5 on ps5 probably so far

Is it just me who things the fps in the cut scenes is terrible? Jumpy as hell the gameplay is smooth as hell them curls scenes start and suddenly its 20fps

I've been looking for in-depth performance review for Kena and I am so glad that NXGamer is doing it. I came to this expecting a low quality side by side that IGN always does but as soon as I heard this man's voice I was so hype loooool

This game looks beautiful and really interesting. One of the very few that feel fresh and next gen.

Playstation 4 is outstanding console. Very well design.
Developers learn to get the most out of consoles later in its life cycle. Some of the NESs best looking and performing games around when the Super Nintendo came out. They learn how to push its limits. Pretty rad since I just bought a PS4 for the first time a month ago. hahaha
Looks great on the PS4. We should enjoy these cross platform releases because at some point they will stop and be PS5 only.

That’s not exactly what he said. He said a single drop from 30 fps. At 60 fps there were a few drops here and there. Regardless, it runs fairly well.
Imagine VRR on PS5. still a big disappointment that it’s almost a year in and we still don’t have it yet.

when I knew that these are the same people that made that Majora's Mask fan film, then I knew I had to see what this game was all about.
video games as an art form is just beautiful, and this kena game is a gem. it will be treasured as such by many, for sure.
actually, I've been thinking what magical wonders could the modding community do with this game.

You'll notice a very big difference playing the game at 60fps instead of 30fps.
Graphically no difference compared too ps4 and ps5 with any games really just smoother frame rates

Playing on the p5 in perf mode. It’s wonderful. Very hard to switch over to Fidelity mode after that
Except the cutscenes Run at 24fps and a stuttering 24 at that, wish they had kept the cut scenes at 60 or at least a stable 30.... loving the game but the cutscenes are really bothering me, need a patch asap

@@danielespinoza6569 I think the 24 is on purpose but it's not ment to be stuttering, it got a update this morning hopefully it will smooth things out. Not all cut scenes are like it only happens on the more demanding ones, hopefully with patches will be steady fps, the game is beautiful it's a small gripe on the grand scale of things
Loving this game. Nice little change up from the often gory and brutal action adventure games.
I really wish developers would just focus on making their 60fps modes look better instead of of implementing a 30fps mode. Nobody wants to do 30fps once they've tried 60, no matter how much worse it looks

@@vVAstrAVv I realise that. I'm just saying that a 4k30fps mode is almost entirely pointless because almost nobody would choose a few more pixels of resolution over doubling the framerate. One is much more noticeable than the other.

Before today I thought this was a ps5 exclusive, so glad to learn it runs and looks good even on base ps4, if you don't mind 30fps like me.

What about on pc?
The analysis between IGN and Digital Foundry are quite different. Either Digital Foundry happens to have a lot of bum equipment(PS4 PRO and PS5), or IGN or Digital Foundry has some flawed testing. Digital Foundry definitely recorded a lot more frame rate drops.
DF are known false tests. Specialy resolution counting. Kena is good example, where DF because lie or bad res count tech they see almost half PS5 real resolution where they count 1200p and NX or EL Nat count above 1700p. And i more trust this two sources and VG tech than DF, specialay after their lose law conflict with sony almost 7 years in past when they nerf PS4 resolution in favor of Xbox. Most trusted can be NX gamer and VG tech.Alex B. from DF cant be trusted, when every videos he praised Xbox and shit on PS5. It's proven many times
And DF use for testing many time beta software of OS for beta test devs on console what can in bad way influence frame rate and graphics. Good example is cod cold war where they have missing rt Shadow effect and fps dips and VG tech has in same day clean frame rate and RT shadow on PS5. DF sometimes even dont understand their own work. Sorry for my english

More stuff like this Sony. Please. We want variety. Not everything needs to be a AAA $70+ game. This game punches above its weight. Especially at $40. That was always part of the charm of the PlayStation brand.
Meanwhile Psychonauts 2 never got a proper analyzing video review from NXgamer or DF. Hmm...
Finally a legit comparison review.. not unlike these youtube channels with fake comparisons where they just resize the video resolution and adjust framerate to make it look like its from a different console.. 🙄

Better IGN. This is information that consumers need with a multi platform release. Really should be included in the initial review though. Now..... please can Sony or ( I understand there is a publisher involved ) deliver a physical version. This goes out to Psychonauts 2 and Lost in Random as well. A physical version for everyone please
Physical version is on the way later this year, small team and independent with another smaller publisher
@@NXGamer I've heard it's getting a physical in the next couple of months via an article on Push Square. It's supposed to be coming to ordinary retailers as well. Odd that Sony didn't step in to publish. Considering the attention they themselves have given this game for some time. This, Psychonauts 2 and Lost in Random would sell well physically in the run up to Christmas. Kena would appeal to families. Psychonauts 2 and Lost in Random would do well at Halloween I would think

Dont listen to this I'm playing on ps5 and the fps in cut scenes is like 20 it runs terrible the gameplay is smooth 60fps then the cut scenes ruined with low fps stutters

I'm playing on ps5 and the cut scenes are so stuttery the frame rate is all over the shop... why no mention of it or showing only gameplay fps! Not cut scenes. This is a beautiful looking game but the fps in the cutscenes ruin it. This is so disingenuous you dint show any cutscenes.....

@@NXGamermissed that bit was hidden and only like 5 seconds, yeah look at the frame rate line its juddey af you can see it everytime a cut scene plays and it ruins how it looks imo, he says about spikes in the frame rate later like one or 2 but glosses over the fact the fps line is a wave in that cutscene
@@dbfzato-1327 It is intentional, the pre-renders cutscenes are running at 24fps, just like movies as that is what they are and have been rendered at. This is the history of the studio and where their origins stem from.
@@NXGamer I really doubt they wanted the cut scenes to run so choppy, i dont think the 24fps the problem if all animated films use it as I've never had a issue with shrek looking choppy... it's a unstable 24fps the camera and all the on screen action jerks along at unstable frame rate every pre rendered cut scene, it's got to get a patch to fix it its actively making the game look worse there is reviews out there complaining about the same things as me it's not just me who feels like this the game is marred by bad frame pacing in pre rendered cutscenes it's a fact
A last gen game running at 30fps is a better experience for your eyes honelsy it's kinda hurting mine after playing the game in flawless 60fps to suddenly be seeing a low budget animated movie, the game is trying to look like DreamWorks or pixar but I've never seen juddering in then animations

It's going to be close as usual with UE4 games. Some games do even run better on PS5 (like Crash 4). But it's usually very close.

The fact this game can’t display native 4k 60 fps on Ps5 is a bit disappointing. I’m a bit worried for future games on Ps5. Seems 1440-1800p will be the norm if you want 60 fps.
Doom eternal runs native 4k 60fps, and doom runs at raytracing 60fps with 1800p as well nice to have both been playing on the raytracing mode as the seemed optimal lol

@@oilerguy5494 I think its probably because it's a small development team they probably just wanted to get it working on as many consoles as possible, the 60fps mode with dynamic rez never drops below 1800p I think so it's not that bad and its definitely worth it for the extra 30fps in gameplay, I just wish the pre rendered cutscenes ran better than 24fps and it dont seem like a very stable 24 either from the ones I've seen, some look amazing but some have some stuttering that's kinda jarring, got my fingers crossed for a patch as probably played to much for a refund now lol
The game is pretty fun, beautiful on ps5 and surprisingly challenging so I hope they fix it anyway!
@@dbfzato-1327 ps5 pro will run all games at 4k 60 with ray tracing enabled. People are saying there won't be a mid gen refresh but I think ps5 pro will be upon us within 3 years. It will be a refined version of ps5.

It's a good way to keep things looking current I guess, interested to see where they go from here, launch ps5 games looking amazing already cant imagine what end of gen games on ps5 pro gonna look like! Hopefully we get some improvements to ai in this gen that seems to be something that's not really progressed in gaming for a while

On short, there is very little differencies about ps4 and ps5 graphics outside resolution and 60 fps. I am very disappointed about this gen.

That 3200x1800 pixel count average on PS5 performance mode is completely false. It’s way lower.
Ehm this video is correct. More tech channels cout this res. DF is false in their tests and they still not fix it. Alex B. From DF is known for bad res couting tech.1200p looks lot different than real native PS5 port. Only DF count 1200p to 1440p in avg 6 channels what test it. DF is known for whorst resolution counting, it can be their bad program for that what can be fooled by capture device or rendering technigue. In tons time DF accept it and use VG tech and EL Nat for better resolution testing in result. Like where they once count bad 1128p in RE7 in first test on PS4Pro where VG tech correct them with 1800p real res and they must rework and reupload their video. Most real and trustfull is VG tech. Wait on his analysis.

In avg low,avg, best is 1800p truth and its avg on par with RTX 2080 or 2070Super what is equvivalent PS5 gpu in that game with TAAU tweak on 78%. in 4k and PS5 settings. If you put PS5 and put it in side to side to pc version on 1200p or 1440p on PC with TAAU, PS5 is lot sharper. Ok wait on DF result, i just say DF is not good source for res. counting

Does Kena use raytracing on the PS5? It feels like Demon's Souls which did not use it, but still looked AMAZING, but then when those lightnings hit my jaw dropped in both games.
