Janice when i am bummed I watch your vids. When you say "A-K" (sounds like that to me...), it makes my day. You have a happy personality and your food choices are awesome. Thanks for making an old American dude happy! I will always watch your channel! My kids are Korean and I keep sharing your videos.
Jesus Christ, I can't believe it's been over a decade since I'd last dined at Ginger & Shallot - I feel old now And LOL my mum bought the trail mix, jujube and dried mangoes from Costco today!!!
The spicy eggplant looks sooo good 😍 😍 Actually, ALL of the food you showed us looked really good. Made me hungry all of a sudden. Great work as always, Janice!
Definitely going to try Ginger & Shallots, the food looks awesome and that meal deal was a bargain! Always looking for a good Chinese place that's not too far away 😊 So cool to see you getting sponsors too 👍
Hi Janice! My mum put the trail mix in our X’mas stockings and then took them back to munch on 🤣 the food looks yummy! We haven’t been to Costco in ages, but do like their big Swiss Miss hot chocolate packs, pizza, roast chicken, Caesar salad, big box of spinach, loads of nuts for my mum, and coconut snacks for the aunties. Looks like the food court has really changed their menu, hope to try when things are less crazy. As to “chuen hup”, we have been lazy with this tradition, but we used to have lots of candied melon things (sorry don’t remember what they’re called) and gwa zi.. oh and Ferrero Rocher and the chocolate coins and laisee lollies! Stay safe!
Years ago I had Shandong Chicken and loved it, but forgot the name and have been searching for it ever since. Now you've shown it on the video I know that's what I'm looking for so thank you! Have a happy Chinese New Year and lots of dried mango and lucky rabbit lollies!
I really like this kind of restaurant like your Ginger and Shallots. It's so convenient when you feel for some kind of confort food that you know you will enjoy. I have a Pho place just beside my home and that's where I go when I just don't know what too eat. Never disappointed. Very interesting to learn about your culture, didn't know about Cheun Hup. I just found out that this year will be the year of the Tiger... that's my year! 😸Yeah!
Dear Janice, I really love your videos and appreciate the fact that you want to support restaurants and small businesses during this difficult time. But, just this morning, I saw yet another UA-camr that I follow post that they've come down with COVID. At a rough count, that makes 28 people that I follow on UA-cam who've had COVID, Two of those people had to be hospitalised. Another two also had close family members pass away from COVID. I'm honestly not sure right now if watching you eat out at public venues gives me pleasure or increases my stress levels. Everyone has to make up their own mind about what they're comfortable with, I guess. Anyway, please stay safe.
Never heard of “Cheun Hup” so it’s good to know😊 wondering the taste of water melon seeds! Looks so crispy. Also looks good for coconuts snacks! Next tome i go to costco def try them🥳
the melon seeds are usually pretty savory, but its a lot of work to crack the shell. my mum and grandma have masted the art of cracking it with one bite but i still struggle with it haha

Ever thought of heading to Maroubra they have a great Chinese restaurant called Cheung Sing Bbq that I have been eating at for over 30 years and yum yum Thai. They have the best satay chicken sticks and chicken wings.
Hi Janice, great video again, Ginger & Shallots is also my go to restaurant in Eastwood when I have 4-5 people. I also love the ShanDong chicken 😍 Your canto is pretty good, are you ABC or educated in HK?

@@JaniceFung i end up leaving with stuff I didn’t need, from all those places. I went to woollies this arvo for spring onions and i ended up with a basic full of stuff
Ginger & Shallot offers a variety of delicious authentic Cantonese food at a reasonable price. However, the general hygiene of the restaurant is to be questioned. I had a friend who ordered takeaway, only to horrifyingly discover a cockroach inside. He immediately went back to complain, but was abruptly brushed off, with the employee/manager attempting to persuade him that it was a “water bug.” A refund was not issued.

Love this video... but WHY can't you be with Mum and Dad?? You're in Sydney, they're in Sydney... ? Are you all on lockdown again??? But if so, why are you able to go out with friends for a meal... and also having people over to your place? I don't understand?? I'm so confused. And really, it must be so hard not being able to be with your parents. These restrictions are NOT emotionally or mentally healthy. This was a very enjoyable video other than the restrictions portion, and that is not a complaint against the video... it's just a complaint against the "way things are". Keep pushing forward and staying positive. Oh, yes, and again... per usual... I'm hungry now after watching this video. Hugs, Penny Sue (Please pass along a hello from America to Mum and Dad from me?)
