I was born in the late 60s, my parents were married in 1956. I look at old pictures of their apts and homes and a lot of it looks like this. When I was a small kid, they had quite a bit of the same furniture from the50s and other items. Now, I have reclaimed quite a bit, in 2017 my whole house is 50s, mod lamps, starburst clocks, low streamlined couch, even including my car I just bought a 58 ford Fairlane. I can't get enough of it. Thanks.
what a lovely house! these days people just paint all these old homes tan and brown, and they are in such a rush to update everything, we forget about the way the homes once looked. im glad to see this old house being preserved
When I grew up in the fifties everyone's bathroom was pink and black trim or turquoise...also our kitchen had brite yellow with silver stars and it was so pretty...now it's boring...also red was popular.......but by 70s orange and brown as I remember and some weird shade of green
Hi I live in Kent and this is one of my faves I love Kent life it’s sooo amazing and wonderful also this is my favourite house I know I’m only 11 but I always have lived in the Kentish countryside and I wish more people would appreciate it
White goods for a kitchen were very expensive in the 1950s. I recently found a hire purchase agreement for a small fridge bought in 1961 by a relative. The cash price, before interest added, converts into today's money as £1,080.
In a way, this kind of shows that some people prefer to keep things the way they are. To me, it doesn't cost a lot to stay the same way for decades, it preserves the house as a piece of history.
So good to watch this video . ✨⭐️✨. The TVs and record players would have been in fairly well to do homes at this time . We mostly had to rely on one coal fire for the entire house ! Frost appeared on the INSIDE of window panes as a result of no double glazing back then . The vintage look is interesting to a lot of folk , but now that I'm vintage myself I can only say ' no going back , thanks !!!!!
Lovely place. My home's a little like that, a flat in an old victorian townhouse, with the original loo, 1970's Hotpoint fridge, sadly my previous English Electric one died, a 1957 PYE Stereogram, to name just a few of the elderly appliances and furniture. The older things were just better made by people who gave a hoot, in stark contrast to the chinapride rubbish now !
A TV when I was a small boy that had shutters in the front would have made no sense because are TV would have been playing almost 24/7. When we turned the TV off less than two hours later my uncle would return from the Navy base when he got off from work as a air traffic controller and turned it right back on.
those were the good old days I love the 50's & the 60's I wasn't here in The 30's or the 40's my parents were only children themselves & young adulrd at that time I didn't come until the early 50's

I love it wish I could step back to the 50s the politicians back then got it right almost full employment unlike the corrupt money obsessed dross we have today destroying this country
Vintage homes all a lot better looking and more solid than new build of homes these days!
I agree with you on that.
There's a little town in York County PA out of like a hundred houses probably 80 of them are Sears houses. It's a really pretty little town
As a teen, I wish kids in the younger generation would admire these kind of things - I think it's lovely.
i can relate to that, i'd even like that if i had the choice because of how elegant it all looks
I’m 16 and I wish I grew up in this generation instead of a generation where people do drugs and crap
I feel the exact same way I’m 16. Life was so much easier
@@katieclaire3031 same here i felt i was born to late
I'm 8, and I actually searched for this.
(P.S i keep on searching clips of the 1997 movie Titanic.)

Its so nice to see how people used to live & how different their life was to ours. Glad you enjoyed it :).
Anytime
Here all people just paint floor, walls and roof inside white, and buy black furniture. It looks UGLY!
they decorate with all white, tan, brown, and black :(. where is the personality?

Wow that's a lot for most families to pay
Beautiful! I wish we could go back in time!!!
I agree, so many periods I would visit if I only had a time machine.
A well preserved historical home. More frugal to keep using older things that work well than discarding them.
Agree :)

I wish the camera would have panned a bit more slowly so I get get a better look at what was being shown.
Yes, i am sorry about that. It is a little too fast.
Yes, I was trying to read the info at start, but I'm no speed reader ,lol.
Fun to see it preserved

I always like to picture how people lived in these houses. Like when they would place a certain item.

thanks for watching and the music is:
Track 1 : Sock Hop By Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)
Track 2 : Last Kiss Goodnight By Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)
Got them. Many thanks, Having been around for all of the 50's, I very much enjoyed your clip.
This looks like a typical home in the '40s in America, not 50's.
Tough business to be in.
Metamec clock on the mantle
I wish to hv house like rhis
It is very nice. You never know, maybe one day !
A 1950s redo of a 1550s house.
I love it. I still come back to this video to enjoy. What is the music playing? The title of the melody. Thanks
Thank you for watching. The music credits are at the bottom of the info box.
Just saw it thanks!!
No tv in the bedroom.
Many people may not have even had a T.V at all. Radio was king in those days.
I love it wish I could step back to the 50s the politicians back then got it right almost full employment unlike the corrupt money obsessed dross we have today destroying this country
Everything was so simple then
It sure was.
Lovely xoxo 💋
It sure is !
What a pretty house! It'd be a shame if a nuclear bomb were to destroy it... Get it? No? No Fallout fans in here? Damn...,
Lol I get it
Look at that oil.
Can you tell me the name of that song, please? Thank you!

I look to move forward the past is the past it’s now that I want.
If he was alive he would throw all that old junk out even the telly and get a 55 inch.
😍😍😍😍😙😚
I hope you enjoyed it :)
Lmfao here - this is how most Brits and Russians live even today !!
they did not have marmite spread in usa in the 50's
proseinc proseic we did in England.
do they really have fireplace in every room!!! that's 50s not ice age darling~😆
Everyone forgets all the horrible stuff that happened in the 1950's. I guess that just human nature.
Nice place for a bike....right by the shitter.
i’m sorry it’s gross
I guess it's not to everyone's taste
Wow very ugly home thanks for sharing
