My wife asked me to make this simple traditional milking stool. It was needed for the kids to sit on while feeding our 2 week old baby goats. Nothing special but may as well film it while making it.
It's going to live outside in the paddock so I chose to make it out of Cypress as it is very durable, naturally termite resistant and it looks good also. The one downside to Cypress is it splinters very easily!
I'm happy to answer any questions.

Along with the solid and functional design of the bench, there was some very good shot choices and lightning in this video that made it relaxing and enjoyable. Thanks for the inspiration to create.
Great video, love the craftsmanship in that stool. Perfect ending with the kids feeding the kids!
Thanks, I appreciate that!
Fun video! I love the end with the kids (of both species)!
Thank you!
I just never get tired of watching those baby goats playing, Neal. Almost as cute as your pups!
Simple, supporting, encouraging and lovely "father thing"...
Thank you!
Just a sweet little bench, neatly rendered! Love the country scene. How lucky!
Thanks Neal! :)
Beautiful wood- I'm envious of your wood stash in the loft. Both sets of kids seem to approve. Nice job and thanks for sharing.
Thanks! I have wood all over the place, I need to find some time and get it all organised. :)
Just found your channel. Subscribed. Really good stuff!
Wonderfully clear and concise video. Kudos!! Nice ending!
Thank you!
awesome, now I just need that cool wood plug making bit...that's sweet
I love goats, especially baby goats.
Amazing, how wonderful it is to see such a video. Beauty in six minutes, I would watch it for hours. I have reviewed your eleven tracks literally in one piece. Big big thumbs up!
Thank you! I really appreciate the feedback!
I love this project. Wouuuuuuu very nice work. 😀👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
В очередной раз, радуется глаз прекрасной работе!!! Ты молодец my friend!!!
Спасибо! :)
Pask 2016: I am going to make a simple outdoor stool.
Pask 2022: I am going to build a functional submarine made entirely out of scrapwood Kumiko.
Great project that a beginner such as myself can attempt. Though it was a bad idea watching it on a fast moving train! That combined with fast time-lapse meant bad motion sickness.. especially after typing this haha
Awesome informational educational video experience Y'alls
Nice, and I too loved the ending. Looking forward to more of your work...cheers...rr
Thank you Richard! :)
The Wood Knight recommended your channel.
Thanks Jim! The Wood Knight is a good fellow! :)
Very nice thank you.
Thanks Robert!
Nice design and great chisel work.
Would you let us know the overall height width and length of the bench?
Simple wooden stool, made with lots of complex and expensive shop tools.
In the North East of England, that's called a cracket
muito bom!!!
Obrigado! :)
Oh no!
Did the sheep get eaten?
Buen día, felicitaciones por sus vídeos, quiero preguntarle si me puede enviar una foto de cómo es la escalera de madera que tiene en su taller. gracias.
Thank you! The staircase is nothing special - It is just a couple of stringers (supports) with cleats screwed to the inside of those then the treads screwed to the top of the cleats. I hope this helps you out.
Were the mortises also done at 5 degrees?
Yes they were. :)
Really nice work! Could you write dimension of your stool?
thx & all the best !!
Thanks! I will get dimensions for you later.
Nice wood stash. Do you mill and dry your own lumber or purchase most of it?
Thanks Scott! I get lumber from wherever I can, I mill some, buy some and scavenge the rest. :)
I love all the stuff you make, but who has a shop like yours to replicate it? Try crafting something that most people can follow with there basic tool shed. Thanks
The sides are for esthetic reasons or the legs aren't strong enough alone?
nice job, btw!
Thanks! The legs would be fairly strong without the sides but with the sides they are super strong!
I'd like to see what that stool looks like today after three years of goats abusing it.
Looks good. But no dimensions.
