Anyone else from 2021 remembering Matty talking about how his heroin addiction during this time made him "a huge liar"? I'm so glad he got the help he needed, but seeing him (brilliantly and eloquently) dodge the question about what he's addicted to in this interview is heartbreaking.

+Arvid Atsinch well he has done drugs before, cocaine and was (I think is again) an addict so he knows something about. And wanting fulfillment in his his life is the drive of what makes him wanna lose himself in the drugs he does.

I find Matty so interesting. He's so smart, he doesn't have an opinion just to have an opinion-he actually thinks, which I appreciate. But my heart also goes out to him, because he's searching so hard for a fulfillment that he hasn't found yet. And I can relate to him on that level as I myself searched so desperately to find peace through love and other people. But love through just humanity only gets you so far. Drugs, education, sex, success, intelligence, love...all of it only gets you so far. It doesn't cure the monotony and loneliness that plagues people, specifically people who are intelligent enough and willing to think about it, as Matty is. If Matty could see this-or anyone else who is reading this-I will tell you what saved me from incredible depression, anxiety, panic, straight up darkness, and ultimately probably self destruction was living my life by applying and believing Biblical Scripture. It took me a bit to come to terms with God and Jesus and faith. But my faith in Jesus saved me and I've seen God bring people into my life who, through Him, have given me enough love to sustain me. The reason I post this is just because I see in Matty what I saw in myself. Listening to him talk, and hearing the 1975's music strikes such a chord. He understands life for what it is, but I hear the longing, too. And there's a reason for that. The longing is supposed to be there.

For me, its always been a battle between what feels good right now but is self destructing long term (lust, drugs, alcohol, etc), and what IS good for me and sustaining long term (which I've found only thru a relationship with Jesus Christ) in Christianity, it's called the battle between the flesh and spirit. the flesh is partaking in the things matty outlines and to live in the spirit means to partake of the things God has for you. whichever one you feed more is going to win. Paul said it perfectly in romans 8 “For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.” praying for u mr. healy (love "if I believe you" btw)
Matty is so intelligent and talks in such a way that u want to keep listening to him talk. His opinions aren't narrow minded and he's not an ignorant asshole which is what i love about him
