Matty is one of the only artists who is able to articulate how it feels to be a fan. He is spot on, fans support artists by buying merch, tickets, buying and streaming music, etc. which is what gives the artist the platform they have. If an artist wants to do a meet and greet, the artist should want to meet the fans that changed their life for free. Matty is a treasure and this interview was amazing. Zane doesn't disappoint.

Matty getting emotional while talking about friendship with the guys is the most I’ve ever related to him I think. I’ve had the same best friend since I was 8 and I will never take that for granted!
You just can’t beat interviews where the interviewer can speak as a peer with such a complete understanding and empathy for the interviewee. That’s why this is league above any conversation a journalist can have with an artist.
matty is such a poet. not in the cheesy-poetry-ish way, it’s just who he is. his words flow. his art is him himself, it’s what he praises the most. zane is such an insane interviewer to be able to make musicians (specifically them, whom are already so used and comfortably sat with the idea of poetry and beautiful words coming out of their mouths every second) feel human in the biggest poetic way. this is so beautiful, guys. matty is an artist given for us to love, may we keep doing it for a long time
I think this is the one of the best interview for anyone with an interest in the arts and music music could listen too. Matty's way to articulate is so raw and open. its clear that he's really reflects on every situation of life. and that is something to be adored. regardless of what the outside opinion is. As a human, its moving to observe and listen on how he approaches life. The music is the beautiful product of that
wow, I’ve never seen matty get emotional, ever. It was beautiful to see that, especially with the context of what he’s talking about. absolutely amazing interview, thank you zane and matty
I believe that he is an extremely brilliant, intelligent and charismatic man, unfortunately he is also very often misunderstood. Of course no one denies that in the past he made too many jokes or said something controversial but like "Taylor Swift's new boyfriend" people started scrutinizing his past in a morbid way and 80% of the things that have been written about him on TikTok, Twitter and Buzzfeed are falsehoods, phrases taken out of context and even often invented.
One of the best interviews I’ve ever seen. The honesty and earnestness of Matty is so refreshing. Too many people take him the wrong way but his vision and outlook on life is very unique and that shows through the bands music.
Also, this interview is absolute gold. It's so evident just how much Matty loves George, Adam and Ross, the emotion and deep dive into how they became what we know and love is just so eyeopening
Matty - “Just tell me you love me. That’s all I need to hear.” Taylor - “If you want to break my cold cold heart, just say ‘I loved you the way that you were’.” I can’t stop imagining the gut-wrenchingly beautiful music these two tortured poets could have made together.
People don’t like him but he’s easily one of the best musical minds in this day and age. Every album has an aesthetic and a feel and I just love that about a band. The eras are all personal. Easily one of my top 5 favourite bands now. The new album is fantastic.
The way that Matty feels about the band is so incredibly special, what a beautiful relationship. I think the “lost boys” comparison doesn’t do it justice. There is nothing juvenile or immature about having true, soulmate-level friendships. We place so much value in our culture on traditional domestic partnerships/nuclear family units. His love for the band and their willingness to die for each other puts into perspective what Matty went through last year and his choice to stay out of the limelight. It is clear there is probably nothing he wouldn’t give up to maintain the purity of his band and their friendship.
Matty gets me thinking how precious my friends are. It's so difficult to realize untill you lose them, but thanks to him, now I just really appriciate the relationship I have with them.

Matty gave me a ticket to be a confident person as an artist. It’s not about money or “success”. It’s about passion. He reminded me of that. Whenever I need a little push on my back, I come back to this interview. Thank you Zane and Apple for this. I love you The 1975.
I was born and have lived in Manchester all of my life, watching them walk around the places I used to go to gigs and hang out on the weekends gave me goosebumps. I still walk around the city centre pretty much every week, but seeing Matty speak about these places and the shared experience we have just kinda hits you differently and fills me with pride for what The 1975 have achieved. Brilliant interview!
Saw them supporting Little Comets at Manchester Academy 3, i told my friend they were going to be huge and forced her to come back stage after the show to see them. Over a decade later I still have the postcard Matty signed for me. Wild seeing the band you loved as a teen really REALLY make it in the way you thought they would.
That is so cool! The same thing happened to me with Yungblud the first time he came to the US. Dom only had *maybe* 100,000 followers total at the time across all platforms and I just thought that he had something special about him. I got to meet him after the show and I've loved watching him get bigger and bigger. I've now seen him 4 times and have been lucky enough to have a M&G each time. I can't wait to see him again in August for the 5th time! It's amazing when you have a memory as you have. It makes it really special! ❤ Thanks for sharing!
15 minutes in. I have a feeling I'm going to be listening to this more than once. Feeling inspired and moved by Matty's ideas and way of speaking. Fascinating. Thank you for sharing this.
being so close to Manchester my whole life and discovering the 1975 just months before the debut album and months before I moved there (and where I am now, my work, my best friends, my art all exists in and around Manny) is so... special. genuinely brings me to tears when Matty (and the band as a whole) are given space to speak so sincerely and openly about the journey, the ideas, the feelings-big and small. they really mean the most to me in so many ways- as a band, as thinkers, as shakers. to me as a young person in the North, as a community artist, as a writer. really really loving this conversation and I'm only 20 mins in yet, but thank you Zane and the team for another cracking discussion and deep dive. this time with my faves. Fact that Zane interviews are so kinda personal-ish but guys please applause to these camera guys who filmed this that cinematically. I know it’s super hard from my experience but look at these wes anderson’s angles. Zane i think we all can agree, we need more of these.
Matty really manifested the bands success, way before people were really into manifestation and taking a vision of your future and running with it. He’s original and he 100% is a genius because he applies his intelligence to making a change and breaking through the cultural normal. He started a revolution like just look at his lyrics and the way he discusses politics, and society, and raw emotion. He just owns it all. Thanks for this genuine and interesting interview ❤

I love his mind frame, the way he thinks, he is well educated in the business and surroundings, I love his music and I could literally talk with him all day.
First, Zane’s one of the best interviewers currently. Truly, I can only think of two others who match his level of great questions while making the artists comfortable. Also, Matty talking about the guys made me tear up! I love this band so much and can’t wait to hear the new album 💙
thanks to Matty for being incledibly helpful in getting my C1 in english, after a bachelor, a master and having watched most of his interviews I still don't know half the words he's spittin
They took an old sound and made it sound fresh and cool. They also have this weird ambient sound to them that is also amazing and therapeutic to listen to.
I wish all the Swifties hating on Matty just by a Buzzfeed article will look at this interview and understand that yes we as humans are flawless, but also we can grow up and learn to be better. And shut up with the crazy awful hate on both.
Authentic and upfront, It's refreshing to see in this world of dismissal and digression. He hasn't changed but for a confidence that is actually a beautiful thing.
I’m a relatively new fan of the 1975 but i think this is the most engaging interview I’ve ever seen. I never would normally sit through an hour long interview but I think I’ve related to this. I’m 25 now and I feel like I’m listening to someone who’s older than I am who’s been where I have and I’m just sitting here listening so intently and hoping that I am going in the same direction in life. Essentially I’m seeing matty in this interview as someone I’d really like to just sit and talk with because he’s the kind of person you can talk to and the conversation is gonna be productive and will never get boring.
AMAZING!!! I have been having such issues trying to decipher what is causing so much of my disenfranchised feelings towards present culture and in turn articulating myself, Matt does not claim to know but instead presents himself as joining us in our disillusioned emotions but within that presents the reasons why we feel that way. So so inspiring, thank you so much for this.
@@MinshullFamilyArchive I don't know why you feel the need to show such negativity towards someone who's simply expressing excitement towards a fantastic interview. I suppose people like you are the down side to the internet. Disappointing... I hope you find happiness in life :)

I could listen to Matty for hours, days, years. His way of seeing life is so interesting, i love him, i love his brain, i love his music, i love his existence in general.
Matty always has something to say and is so willing to open his thoughts up to everyone. i really really admire that about him because there are many celebrity musicians who do the opposite (understandably so imo), but he just puts it all out there. i can listen to him waffle on about just about anything!
the 1975 followed me thru my hardest and darkest times. I fell in love to the 1975, I felt heartache and had this band right behind me. Thank y’all for giving me another reason to stay alive.
I have seen Matty perform 5 times, next month will be my 6th. All the way from the first album until now. Each album he's told a different story and commented differently on culture and the world. His addiction and now post addiction offers even more commentary and diversity. I love them with every fiber of my soul. See you in Vegas, Matty w
I stopped my entire day to sit down and watch. This is exactly what I wanted. The way the interview was set up was interesting and done so well. Authenticity all around. Love you both ❤
WOW When he talked about feeling the transformative power of music that hit HARD. I cant explain it but I've never been the same since the first time i heard The 1975's first album... and that's a great thing.
Loved the insight. Matt seems like the most complicated/simple man. The duality is quite amazing. Zane Lowe has the most powerful ability to create comfort in conversations. Absolutely loved the interview.
incredible convo and honestly a blessing and a relief to hear Matty so sincerely talk about the joy of maturing. Being alive and earnestly engaging with life is where it's at. With sobering gratitude ❤
Anyone who's ever met Matty will know how much of a genuinely lovely guy he is. He has always had the time to stop and chat for those who hv invested time and money into loving the band and seeing their shows. They used to always come out to meet fans for ages after the shows. Obv once they got bigger it was harder to manage. Their body of work over the last ten yrs gathers even more fans at every turn. Still my favourite band in the last ten years. Loved hearing him chat about how great Manchester is for live music. Takes me bk seeing the Night and Day cafe ❤️
New to the band, a very pleasant surprise, also nice to hear some intelligent conversations… what fascinates me us that pop music has been around since the late 50s ? And this band produced a song in 2022 which has 3 chords in a cycle and a lyric “I’m in love with you “ and made it sound fresh as spring.. quite an achievement
14 minutes in and I had o pause it: This is SUPERIOR! I adore that they started out walking in the street - A truly Rooted, Visionary, thank you Matt & Zane. I felt a surge of life come through me. As a student at The School Of Visual Arts back in the 80's, I'm now 59 and I work at a totally different profession. But, it never leaves me. One day, I will honor it again, and this helps me feel that Inspiration and optimism and Hope.
100%! Taylor saw and loved(s) a side of Matty that most people never see. He is thoughtful, intelligent, poetic, uses an old typewriter (lol). He's blue (Colors MV) to Taylor's red hot! Watching his MV for Oh Caroline convinced me. The similarities to Delicate are undeniable.

First, Zane’s one of the best interviewers currently. Truly, I can only think of two others who match his level of great questions while making the artists comfortable. Also, Matty talking about the guys made me tear up! I love this band so much and can’t wait to hear the new album 💙
I love that he just zones out when ppl are talking but he’s obviously paying attention but zane is just chatting and Matty is like 😶🫠
Finally someone commented on this aspect!
Thought it was just me, very hilarious cos I get annoyed for him
@@bobbivunit’s actually adhd
@@inhak1551 I assumed, I do the same thing!
thanks to Matty for being incledibly helpful in getting my C1 in english, after a bachelor, a master and having watched most of his interviews I still don't know half the words he's spittin
They took an old sound and made it sound fresh and cool. They also have this weird ambient sound to them that is also amazing and therapeutic to listen to.
On his own he still managed to represent the band and not just talk about himself, not many can do that
I wish all the Swifties hating on Matty just by a Buzzfeed article will look at this interview and understand that yes we as humans are flawless, but also we can grow up and learn to be better. And shut up with the crazy awful hate on both.
True
That word salad says more about you. You speak yet you say NOTHING!
@@MinshullFamilyArchive I don't know why you feel the need to show such negativity towards someone who's simply expressing excitement towards a fantastic interview. I suppose people like you are the down side to the internet. Disappointing... I hope you find happiness in life :)
What an intelligent, talented, creative, vulnerable, thoughtful, kind and interesting man ! I really enjoyed it ❤! Sending lots of love and respect...
Wasn’t expecting Matty to quote Billy Connolly but I’m 100% here for it
i got teary-eyed when matty got emotional. really felt that one.
one of the best interviews i’ve ever watch, mattys so real i love it
They tried to get a fake Matty but it didn't work
@@MinshullFamilyArchive I don't know if you ever listen to Zane's interview before but he always try to get the authentic version of the interviewee. He never "tries" to get a fake version of him or any of his guests.
@@xswtmiseryx07 it was a cardboard cut-out
I love this man SO FREAKING MUCH!! "I wanted to be a serious writer but I was 26!!" MATTYYYY
Matty Healy is so earnest. Hearing him talk about his relationship with the guys could thaw any heart.
He’s not only a great talker but also such a good listener. Love hearing him talk about life
Probably the most fascinating, interesting, in-sighting interview I have had the pleasure of watching and listening to
so happy people are starting to catch onto his genius
😂😂😂
damn. i will never not love this interview. personal and raw. low key a comfort place
the 1975 followed me thru my hardest and darkest times. I fell in love to the 1975, I felt heartache and had this band right behind me. Thank y’all for giving me another reason to stay alive.
“I THINK IM FALLIN… FALLIN FOR YOU!” Plays in my head the more vulnerable Matty gets
I love Matty, I saw them in concert back in 2019 and I felt so euphoric, it was raining and they still played. I love this.
He’s probably told this story a million times, but still gives enthusiasm every time he tells it. Much respect
Absolutely loved the interview.
matty makes anything and everything he talks about sound so artistic. he’s so perfect
incredible convo and honestly a blessing and a relief to hear Matty so sincerely talk about the joy of maturing. Being alive and earnestly engaging with life is where it's at. With sobering gratitude ❤
Brilliant Interview, Lowe always brings an absolute breath of fresh air. I havent heard the boys since 2016, now IM BACK ON.
Why is this so interesting literally Matty is so well spoken and is really in tuned with himself
Matty referenced this Bob Dylan quote: “You can't be wise and in love at the same time.”
I love hearing Matty speak, it gives me peace in my world. But that story at 25:00 needed to be finished 😫
I NEED NOTES PART 2
Welp, I guess I love Matty Healy now. Excellent interview. 👏🏻
i love how every two minutes Matty says a potential song lyric
I am 60 yrs old but honestly The 1975, is the best band we have since a long time. Love them and I can only wish them all the best.
C.A.👍👍👍
49 feel the same way
@@jeremydodds Right on Brother 🙂
Totally agree with you! (I'm 56). They made me feel excited about music again.
Came here to try to see what Taylor Swift saw in him to elicit the intensity of The Tortured Poets Department. I get it. I absolutely get it.
Very intelligent guy. Mad respect Matty
