- A one night camp in the woods using the new OneTigris Backwoods Bungalow Ultralight Bushcraft Shelter Version 2.0.
I have been given this to trial and give my honest opinion by Onetigris.
I think this a well made 3 season shelter, a much improved version of the original, with well thoughtout improvements.
It is well made and of a good waterproof material.
I had a condensation problem with it, as most tents, but as this is a single walled tent, there is a chance of getting moisture onto your sleeping system.
I plan on using this in the spring for over-nighters in fair weather/slight rain woodland camps.
I do endorse this tent, and look forward to using it many times.

I have the same tent for car camping these days. My backpacking days are behind me now. The bungalow tent will hold a full sized Colman cot and mattress also! I loved everything about your vid except the veggie bacon. lol

i have been with this channel since the very beginning and i am very impressed with the improvment of production quality but also how much more relaxed in front of the camera you seem now. also i have seen how your equipment has evolved over time.

First time seeing your channel. I am looking at some tents from OneTigris and stumbled upon this vid. I honestly forgot all about the tent. I could sit and watch your photography for days. Stunning work, mate!

Will it be very cold where you are going, I don't think its designed for very cold temperatures, more of a spring summer tent?
@@craftywildcamps yeah, down around 10 deg F at night......should be fine. Our last campout we had neg. 17 degrees! Could NOT keep our beer from freezing into mush!

Great stuff as a ways Steve love how the robin comes in to check out it's territory at the end there..looks a good shelter that just for the woodland stuff i assume,wouldn't be any good up on the moors of the peak district unless against a sheltered outcrop some where.tfs mate.Andy.
No, the tent wouldn't be any good up in the peaks, great for sheltered woodlands. It's funny how the robins search around your camp, as I lifted the tent there were lots of worms for it to eat. Steve.
A small roofline vent would take care of most of the condensation issue. Warm air rises.
I like that, as you say Baker style but without the heavy canvas, something I'd use on a paddling trip I think more than moorland. Good honest look at it, and cracking frost shots.

Hi..just come across your videos. I'm blown away with all the knowledge you have of bushcraft and wild camping. Have you ever thought about bringing out a book for beginners like my self. .or can you give pointers on where to start learning bushcraft skills?
I just read the specs on this tent on amazon and it does state its an rounder 4 season tent, thats what it was made for.

I was told by Onetigris not use it in really bad weather. Great for 3 seasons, but wouldn't be comfortable using it in very cold/wet conditions. Steve.
That did look cold in the morning, a proper hoar frost too. Tent looked good and a great colour too, I prefer coyote brown over olive green for blending into the landscape. I bought the OneTigris mesh tent last winter but haven't managed to use it yet, seems well made though and very reasonable prices. Great shots as usual thanks Steve.

Nice review, Steve. I have a similar style tent, though a larger model. I find mine doesn't like the wind, and I'm constantly fixing the lines. It's great though. Tons of room. Oh, and you trained that robin well at the end. 🙂👍

Nice design, I'd like a tarp for my hammock with such nice side walls. Maybe i could even fit a hammock onder that ridge? I'm looking this one up. It has potential.

Some company in Finland (Vihe VaellusMinilaavu) used to make one like that, two sizes, reflective inside - should have bought one when I had the chance, they've been out of stock forever.
The reflective insides sounds good. I use a reflective mat under my sleeping mat, it's amazing the heat they reflect back. Thanks. Steve.
A 1.4kg baker/whelan with added ventilation. Looks terrific. Can you prop the tarp/awning out half closed against weather?
@Marcus Maximus Tremendous! Well I fell head over heals for the BlankWolf Alpha Stealth tent. But, that Baker will undoubtedly still end up in my collection
@Marcus Maximus I have the 'other' Blackwolf Stealth Alpha, lol, its an A frame with only one end tunnel entry and can be put up as tarp / fly only or with the mesh inner. Its very, very basic, but I like the look, weight and price.
Glad I happened upon your video. I was hoping to finding a mesh tent just large enough to accommodate my NEMO Cosmo 30"x80" sleeping pad, but haven't had any luck yet. Wanted to use one with a tarp over it to hopefully avoid condensation issues. The specs on this tent show it to be large enough, though, and I'll just have to wipe the inside with a cloth before I pack it away. The reflective ground sheet you put on the tent floor under your sleeping bag at the 4:00 minute mark is something I'd like to try. Can you tell us what that's called and perhaps a manufacturer name, please?
Hi Bruce. It was a Highlander Reflective Camping Mat. I think it is pretty similar to most mats. They are good, you can feel the heat reflecting back off your body, they should invent a sleeping bag made from it. Thats an idea! Thanks for watching. Steve.
It looked a cracking camp steve and I thought the tent was set to perform. But it couldn't do winter. Well, we know now. What was its weight? Appeared a bit big for me. I think I'll stick with a tarp. Good going though. Mark
Hi Mark, I think it was a liitle too cold. It weighs 1.45 Kilograms, but for reason, it dont pack dowrn as small as I thought it should? I may have to put it in a stuff bag to keep the size down. It looks the part though for woodland camping. Steve.
think you could add a reflective sheet to the inside of the built in tarp and back wall? get a wee long fire going a touch closer for heat...

Nice video and photography as usual. In regards to the tent I like the design and the traditional look, but it's not very versatile in the sense that it's not easy to set up in non woodlands areas and it requires a lot of anchor points. Also I don't think it's truly lightweight and actually considering it doesn't come with any poles it is quite heavy. Compare it with the terranova starlite2 for example.
To be fair its not too heavy, but doesn't pack down well. A good 3 season tent, ideal for sitting in looking at the fire. Cheers, Steve.

I maybe doing some motor cycle bushcraft tour camping in the new year. Are you up for a visit and am over night camp? Probably around Spring time ish. I plan on visiting a few other places on the way up to Scotland.

This tent looks like a modern knockoff of the old Whelen tent designed by Colonel Townsend Whelen in 1925 and used for many years. As far as I am concerned that was the best tent design ever made.
They are pretty similar, this one is lighter, but I guess not as insulated. Thanks, Steve.

Good vid. I've been looking at that tent for a while now. Didn't realise it had a dirty big hole in the back. Is there any way of sealing it ?. I hate drafts on my neck as I sleep. Cheers.
To be fair, I think you need it. As it's a single walled tent, the chance of condensation is high, so more through draft the better, I even had the front door open and still got some condensation which turned to frost, but I think in the spring/summer this would be reduced. The long vent does have a outer skirt, which could be closed shut against it, but would seal you in. as you know all tents need adequate ventilation. Thanks for watching, Steve.

Hi David. I think the canvas lavvu with a small stove and chimney would be great for you. I've used one without a stove in winter for very cold woodland camps. A stove would make it very toasty! The tent was pretty cheap, a stove not so? You would need a good ground sheet, bed roll and sleeping bag.

No I didnt close it, as I knew I would get a condensation problem, so wanted as much fresh air in as possible. The icey conditions didnt do it any favours. I will get it back out in the spring. Steve.
Looks decent for this price. I'm surprised by how well the coyote color blends.
Coyote brown is great for woodlands. When you think, most woodland creatures are brown not green? I'm surprise there are no 'Camo' animals around? Thanks for watching, Steve.

I stumbled across this tent because I'm more worried about pack size than anything else (if it fits in my motorbike top box, it's small enough) and for the price, this seems about the smallest around. I'm about 95% sold at this point. Do you think a compression sack would be a solid investment if you want it as small as possible?
Oh I'm also surprised you didn't zip down the awning in such cold contitions - you're a more rugged man than I.
@@Hawkskull I think you could get it down to perhaps half the size in a good compression bag.
I didn't feel the need to zip up the front, as I see it as being like a tarp as you would use with a hammock. I think zipping it up would lead to more condensation, I still had a high amount with it open. I think to be honest the holes in the bug net are too fine, they do trap a lot of heat and moisture. I don't think so, it would be a tight fit. It would fit under the tarp outside maybe? Steve.

It's a Snugpak Rocket Pack, great when you need extra gear, you can fit a lot in. Steve.
Great film and review! I was looking at this shelter a while back before it was upgraded. Opted for a Halti Laavu instead which is similar but is very roomy and has a bigger back vent.
