Good luck with your Japanese studies! I know language studies can be scary sometimes, we might feel very overwhelmed but I hope you keep this up! I am a university student in Japan. Still learning Japanese. So seeing someone take initiative to learn Japanese sure does bring back memories of my own. Since you're learning Hiragana and Katakana first. After a few days of practicing with the pronunciation, maybe you can try writing the letter only instead of the pronunciations with it. Personally it helped me memorize it better. Anyway I wish you all the best with school and Japanese!
