Absolutely an amazing ride and what's even more amazing is how quickly they put it together. For those that don't know the original ride burned to the ground 2 years ago and they did this all since then. Absolutely incredible work ethic.
Instead of showing the Caribbean, this ride is inspired by the Dutch going to Indonesia for its spices (E.g: Dutch East India Company). Really cool and unique take on the "pirates dark ride" concept!
But there is absolutely nothing Indonesian in that ride. Batavia looked nothing like that. Those buildings have Spanish influence and most of the boats are of Chinese influence. The swamp is very United States influence.
@@DavidSusiloUnscripted It’s a theme park not a history museum. What did you expect? A fully dedicated historically accurate representation of privateer life in the 1700s?
@@henrylivingstone2971 when they actually use a specific city name (not a general area as Caribbean, or Asia, etc), yes I expect more authenticity. Even if it means just ONE element that fits the title. Instead, NONE of the elements fits Batavia (or south east asia, or even asia in general for that matter).
@@DavidSusiloUnscripted Then you’re a fool for expecting that much from a theme park ride. They obviously named it that so it would be more familiar to a European park going public. And there are few though very tenuous details that can be interpreted as being inspired from historical source material. The village scene uses thatch huts that are similar to Toba Batak houses, used by the Batak people of northern Sumatra of Indonesia. Also there seems to be shields similar to that of the Sepik river tribe cultures in Papua New Guinea which is technically in Indonesia. Also how can you even tell what the ships look like? Most of them look sunk or merely shown on their broadside, there’s no telling whether it’s a Spanish galleon or a Dutch fluyt. Also what swamp? There’s no swamp, it’s obviously jungle and the continental US doesn’t have any tropical rainforests. There’s a temple with obvious allusions to Khmer architecture and strangely a reference to Balinese mythology, regardless there are many references to south East Asian cultures even if it is a mish mash.
@@DavidSusiloUnscripted Also the Chinese man and ship is obviously a reference to the sino-Dutch conflicts common at the time. Considering the proximity to the Chinese mainland and European eagerness to access the Chinese market for silks and porcelain the prevalence of pirates around the south China seas was no doubt a common occurrence. There have been conflicts with both Chinese pirates and the Ming and later Qing dynasties against the Dutch east India company and later the Dutch protectorate.
While I think it’s a nice ride with beautiful effects and settings, it’s a little bit predictable and very relaxing. While I don’t have anything against relaxing rides, things that have to do with pirates are more energetic. This is a perfect ride for those who prioritize aesthetics over adrenaline
This ride has an overarching story, so much to see that it doesn't get boring even after a few rides. The music is awesome and it's even tied into the Theme Park overarching narration. One of my favorite darkrides even better than the one which burned down.
Cool concept , it's so strange seeing a pirate themed attraction being this calm and relaxing, for me it looks like a kind of a mix between pirates of the caribbean and it's a small world !
That’s literally how Pirates of the Caribbean is at Dland. So rather it’s like a kind of mix between Pirates of the Caribbean and Pirates of the Caribbean. Haha
The theming and detail in this ride is AMAZING! Wow! You don't see anything like this in America. This ride blows Pirates of the Caribbean out of the water (haha)! Just stunning and so beautiful!
I don’t think it’s better than the one in California for nostalgia purposes but it’s way better than the one in Disney world. That one is really short and barely has anything going on
This really feels like a combination between Pirates of the Caribbean and Spaceship Earth. I also like how the ride flows past the restaurant at the end. Its like the 3 Caballeros ride. But the animatronics are too stiff. If they were to move more than 5 degrees, this would be phenomenal.
There is a big Easter egg in this ride which you missed to film (05:08 when you look straight in the middle... Too bad that there is no close up view of this animatronic)... You can literally see the owner of Europapark (who is also the owner of Mack Rides) as an animatronic. This animatronic was a gift from the kids of Mr Mack.
Wow, this whole ride is spectacular. Its really relaxing. The scenery is beautiful and the ride seems to go on and on while telling a never ending story. It is a bit loud, and its difficult to tell what is being said, but the scenery speaks for itself. Great job, super nice video.
I love how they step across into the boat. I wish Disneyland would adapt to that. For people with balance/mobility issues, stepping down into/up out of the boats can be a little tricky.
I like the music in this attraction! Not the typical pirate swashbuckling music we are used to in the Disney Parks pirate attractions but it's different and it works! And I do like the boats you ride in. WAY more themed than the Disney Parks!
Definitely an improvement over the original, which looked too much like a bad POTC ripoff. The animatronics still aren't up to Disney quality, but the staging and atmosphere make up for that.
Interesting differences with Pirates o/t Caribbean: here the lift hill is not part of the experience. And now it strikes me how Disney has totally missed to do something with the boats themselves...
Maybe its and relaxing boat ride, but they definitely did really nice job on the animatronics and the art itself. There was a lot going on during the boat ride itself and 10 minutes is a bit longer than you'd expect from something like this.

what a beautiful ride - ambiance, props, light, costumes,... very surprising. Would love to ride it.
I light the eltric light in the shape of a latern on the toure boat. Are there more pirate themed rides I have never seen? If you think of it pirates we're not just in the caribbean. They were global. What about river pirates?
The story feels a little odd for me but, a lot of Europas rides are that way. The sets and theming however are absolutely spectacular. That first large room…just wow
Dang, okay so I was trying not to be bias comparing this to Disney’s version but who’s to say another theme park can’t do a pirate ride? Sure a lot of elements were borrowed from Disney but I gotta say this one of the better version of a pirate ride out there. I think it had great beautiful set pieces, lighting, projections, so so robots, and one heck of a confusing storyline I’d still go check this one out
This ride was pretty terrific! It looks like a Pirates ride with a bit of Jungle Cruise and a little Indiana Jnes thrown in!! I only wish I could understand the language so I could follow the story. I think it is better than Disney's, in that it has more animatronics and actual sets that your ride vehicle passes by, while Disney is depending on more and more screens and fewer Imaginative sets and animatronics. Movies screens are cheap and easy to fix, so Disney is letting more and more screens dominate their rides. But I can sit at home and watch a movie on a screen------going to an expensive theme park to watch a movie is not appealing. I remember the old Pirates of the Caribbean ride from many years ago, and it it was fabulous, without the screens and without the movie tie ins, and long before they "updated" it. . It was a favorite of everyone's long before the movie existed. Disney would have no problem creating something like this ride pictured here, and make it even better, but they would rather stick to the cheap cop out. I applaud Europa park for going the extra mile to make an interesting ride that people will remember. Terrific video.
I have been to both Disneyland and Disney World ( the latter multiple times), and I am from the Caribbean. I went to Germany back in 2006 and this ride is what stood out the most for me from the whole park. I found it beautifully built, to be a longer ride. It was much more elaborate than the ride at Disney World. I had not been to Disneyland yet. I found the ride in Disneyland was different than its counterpart, but this concept just blew my mind! I loved the Asian elements and the perspective of pirates outside of the Caribbean. It was Beautiful!
My honest opinion - It's very ornate and colorful, unique in theme, and lot of movement throughout the ride. Of course, the animatronics are SO much better at Disneyland, and the 1st (and only) drop is shorter and more like the 2nd drop at Disneyland. Also, the music/sounds are somewhat bland (no rousing "Yo Ho" song to connect the theme). Colors are great in the video. Cool SFX lighting at the end, but it doesn't really have any Punch to the end. Reverse Blue Bayou experience at the end seems anti-climactic compared to the "leaving the real world" effect of the original. Overall, seems like a pretty good knock-off, and being that Disneyland is in Paris and not Germany, it seems to be a close enough equivalent for Germany. Obviously, the Original is levels above this, but if this were the only one I could afford/travel to, it is quite impressive. Nice blend of Tiki Room/Adventureland at the beginning. Lastly, only about half the length time of the Original POTC.
Looks like Disney's imagineers have abandoned Disney and gone to Europe. It's bad when other theme parks are giving so much more depth and creativity in their attractions than the standard. Get a clue from these people Disney!
My friend is an imagineer for Disneyland Paris, I’ve known him when I worked there at the opening and he said he’s getting very frustrated with a lot of young woke Americans going over there with no imagination who just want to make thrill attractions based on the latest superhero films with projection screens as it’s cheaper and quicker thinking that’s what people want, not realising Europeans have a lot of old history Gothic, Renaissance, Scandinavian vikings, romans, Anglo Saxons etc that they are more interested in
A boat piloted by a cast member dressed as a pirate, to street the boat and a talking skeleton or pariet with a pirates hat as a animatronic tour guide. this ride quiet amazing but as a Jakarta's citizen (Batavia now) this ride aren't accurate, so many misconception about Batavia in 14th-19th Century, there is no Budha temple around Batavia, and they put Mannequin using modern Betawinese outfit (native tribes of Batavia), and they put so many African element on many spot, which is wrong since Batavia are located in south east asia.
