One way to not hurt ur finger while doing it is, Getting a platform like a bed or smt and then while ur twisting it put it down and hold one side and push and twist the other side, hope it helped

Great tutorial, easy and looks so cute!
For those who are still struggling, you could use a pair of pliers or use a bigger but thinner paper clip. I found the cheap ones to be easier to manipulate.

The trick to it is at :22, the outside opening of your paper clip should be facing the top of your left hand..
