Then i am afraid you are wrong, you can't treat your dog as if it's more important than yourself, even if it's true, it needs to understand that you are the alpha and that he has to obey to you and have respect, or else they will treat you as if you are their equal, best way to test this out? I was thinking that while it may seem "funny" or "cute" or so to some humans when animals behave in this way - because obviously humans know the broader situation and that they will give the dog food eventually and find that the animals behaviour therefor is "silly" or "exagurated" - he uses the word "tantrum", it is not funny at all for animals that are actually really anxious and concerned they may not get enough food - especially a rescue dog might have been traumatized in the past - for us humans food is not an issue anymore but for animals it is extremly important and that is programmed into their brain by evolution.
Thats an animals primary objective in live is to secure enough food.
So he may find his dog is "giving him so much joy" while his dog is actually miserable and anxious...
Similar things apply to little children, where adults may find their crying dumb or unnessesary, but from the childrens perspective, since they dont know so many things and are dependent and vulnerable, something can actually be seriously upsetting and stressfull, and one should take THEM more seriously even if their probelm isnt a serious one from an adults perspective.

If you knew the backstory on this guy you would really despise him. He fostered this dog when he found out that the dog had an unusual way of talking. He made a video that went viral and made tons of money off of the dog. He had promised the adoptive family to return the dog when the time came to rehome it but refused once the family asked for their dog back. He use social media to put pressure on them saying that he and the dog had bonded and it would be better for the dog to stay with him. He refused to return the dog and so the family allowed him to keep it. Ever since then he’s been making money by letting his videos of this unusual dog go viral. He doesn’t care about the dog so much is cares about the amount of money that he can make off of it. I’m sure he is bonded with a dog but if he truly loved the dog, he would feed it first and not allow it to develop bad habits like going up to strangers to beg for food. It’s disingenuous of him to say that the dog would go up to every single person who opens a package of food. Only a dog that is hungry will do that. Most dogs that are satiated will not bother strangers for food. Dodo got this story very very wrong.

Animals, whether dogs horses or cats always show respect to each other by waiting their turn to eat. A dominant dog at the park will never tolerate another dog interfering with its dinner, and your dog's feelings wouldn't be hurt by this! Horses know too to let the alpha eat first, and cats will always let the Tom eat first. Don't fight nature. The difference is in your perception of the situation, not theirs.

He never had the slightest intention of returning the dog to the proper owners. He kept the dog and use social media to beg them, saying that the dog now belonged to him. The family acquiesced and gave him the dog. Ever since then he’s been using the dog on social media to make money because he knows that a talking dog has great appeal. And here he is again. The difference with dogs is that they are pack animals with a strict social hierarchy in which the pack leader eats first. If you let your dog eat first, it'll think it's the boss and that may lead to misehaving or dominant behaviour towards you or others. So as unfair as it may seem for us with our human morals, it makes sense from a dog's point of view. Humans are the boss, then comes the dog.
Sadly, the dog doesn't seem to be well-trained anyway, judging by how he is allowed to just approach strangers without a leash and the owner just mildly protests. Not everyone likes dogs, some even fear them and having a Pitbull jump up on you trying to get your food would be more than triggering for many.

@@CursedWheelieBin He doesn't respect the people around him. If the dog knows that when you're done eating they get to eat, it feels natural to them to respect you and trust you that you will let them eat when you're done. Another trick I've found works well to build trust related to food is to take their bowl while they're eating: be careful the first couple times you do this because it will really freak them out, but being it back immediately with a treat (sausage, peanut butter etc) and they VERY quickly learn not to be possessive of their food, but to enjoy the idea that you not only provide their food, but make it better.
But honestly, feeding is only one moment in the day, on its own not the end all and be all, in fact it's only about 10 seconds of meaningful interaction between my dogs and me in a day. Outside, this dog needs is a leash, not for control, but for communication, so that the moment he starts to be disrespectful he can be corrected. He needs to be taught simple obedience like sit, lay down, come, and out. Once the dog trusts and respects people around him at least that much, then you can start working long line and eventually off leash. But that's a ways out for this dog: this dog is smart not putting his trust in this knob.
As for pits and their cousins, it's sad that they were bred by bad actors. As for getting a dog, I'm happy to hear that! I have two things I think you should look out for: don't get a dog that is fearful of you: it will be hard to earn it's trust and will be unfair to you as a new owner (and it may be fearful of strangers, which is no fun). Leave a dog like that to someone more experienced.
And don't get a dog that runs over to you and jumps all over you: if it's walking all over you the first time you meet you just know it's going to be much more difficult to earn that dogs respect. A dog like that doesn't respect others (people often mistake this for love: it's not. In dog language it's one of the rudest things a dog can say, no other dog would tolerate that), and again it's not fair to a novice trainer to be expected to teach a dog like that basic lessons (they should have gotten the basics from their mother who would disciplinethem if they were disrespectful to her).
There's a lot of good dogs at shelters: there's no shame in telling the staff that this is your first dog and that you need to find one that's calm and immediately looks to you for leadership for your first dog. Further, shelters have high turnover so don't be afraid to wait a couple months if the perfect dog isn't there the first time you visit (it took 4 or 5 months for our first dog to show up at the shelter, and I couldn't be happier that we waited for the right one). This dog will be with you for anywhere from 8 to 20 years (I knew one dog in my neighborhood, a big one at that, was 22 the last I saw him) so don't make a rash decision!
Once you've worked with a respectful dog you can foster progressively more difficult cases, but for your first time you will be learning as much from your dog as your dog will be from you.
      Good luck!

@@CoreIntegrity I also want to point out that this whole pack leader theory can't even be applied to an owner and his dog, since they are both a different species.
I will leave you with this article:
It seems like every discussion of dog obedience and dog behavioural problems eventually turns to the issue of dominance. Dog owners are told that they must be "the leader of the pack" and the "alpha dog in your own home." One reason why this issue has become so salient again has to do with the current popularity of Cesar Millan, who calls himself "The Dog Whisperer," and has popularized the use of forceful methods to exert dominance over unruly dogs.
The original description of the basic difference between dominance and submission in dogs comes from Konrad Lorenz in his book, "King Solomon's Ring," (1949). Lorenz, who was a Nobel Prize-winning ethologist and animal behaviorist, based this idea on observations of his own dogs. If one dog appeared to be more aggressive and powerful (dominant) the other dog would acknowledge this by giving ground or rolling on its back (submission). Lorenz felt that humans also had dominance relationships with dogs, since if he struck or threatened one of his dogs they acted similarly submissively toward him.
The thinking of scientists usually reflects the culture and the beliefs of the historical era and the place that they live in. Lorenz was born in Austria in 1903. His thinking about dogs was doubtless influenced by the dog training procedures common at that time, most of which had been developed by the German military for teaching service dogs. The methods used to train dogs reflected the attitudes of the military at the time and were based upon strict discipline supported by force if necessary. Certain tools that were developed for training reflect this attitude, such as a leash that was braided and made rigid at the loop end so that it could be turned around and used as a whip if the dog failed to obey.
Colonel Konrad Most summarized that Germanic philosophy of training when he wrote, "In the absence of compulsion neither human education nor canine training is feasible. Even the most soft-hearted dog-owner cannot get on terms with his idolized favorite without some form of compulsion." In other words, one should use force to establish dominance and then use that dominance to control the animal's behavior.
The first research on wolf behaviors seemed to support the idea of a rigid, military-like canine social hierarchy, usually supported by physical confrontations which ultimately established a leader-the "alpha wolf"-who maintains his leadership through force and intimidation. Unfortunately, later research would show that this is an artificial and erroneous view of canine social organization.
David L. Mech, who is now a senior research scientist for the U.S. Department of the Interior, was one of the first people to study wolf behavior in the wild. In his 1970 book, he was influenced by earlier ideas, including those of Lorenz, and referred to the pack leader as the "alpha wolf." Looking back 40 years later he has come to doubt the usefulness of this concept. He now maintains that the label is wrong because it implies that the wolves fought to determine dominance.
In actuality, when they mature, wolves leave their original pack to mate and produce offspring which then become the rest of their new pack. Dominance arises simply in the same way that parents naturally control the behavior of their offspring in humans, at least while they are living with the family. As in human families, the parents loosely set the rules, and the kids sort things out among themselves. Because of this state of affairs, rather than using the label "alpha" Mech prefers to refer to the "breeding" male or female in the pack or simply the mother or father wolf. The idea of the alpha only seems to be valid in artificial packs, where unrelated individuals are put together, as in captivity, or where may be multiple breeding pairs. In such "unnatural" social groupings, animals will contest for leadership and an alpha wolf will emerge.
Of course wolves are not dogs, so let's look at a recent (2010) piece of research by Roberto Bonanni of the University of Parma and his associates. They looked at free-ranging packs of dogs in Italy and found that leadership was a very fluid thing. For example, in one pack, which had 27 members, there were six dogs that habitually took turns leading the pack, but at least half of the adult dogs were leaders, at least some of the time. The dogs that were usually found leading the pack tended to be the older, more experienced dogs, but not necessarily the most dominant. The pack seems to allow leadership to dogs, who at particular times seem to be most likely to contribute to the welfare of the pack through knowledge that can access the resources they require.
The reason that all of this is important is that it tells us, (regardless of concerns about the amount of force used in training) that Cesar Millan's technique, and that of many other trainers who use a military-like concept of canine social hierarchy as the basis of dog training and problem solving, is based on a false premise. It is a holdover from German military service dog training at the turn of the last century, and generalization from outdated wolf research based on artificial packs of captive wolves.

I’ve seen brutal fights among dogs even when they’re on a leash. They just overpowered their owners due to their size. Blood everywhere. Zzz.

If you're on a lunchbreak, trying to relax and in need of peace how annoying would it be if not only did someone's dog beg loudly in your face and possibly jump on you but the owner chooses to bring out their camera and film rather than calling the dog away.

Sounds like an incident in the making. What if the person was upset by this? How would the owner or dog react to someone cussing their assess out? No one wants some random dog begging them for anything!

the dog has more braincells on social skill part then you so he didn't jump on the lady as long as he wasn't sure the lady wecomed him with smile and touch

I would honestly love it. But I work with animals and love their company. It would brighten my day if I saw Denis!

I'm okay with sharing with the dog, that would be a highlight in my day, but some guy recording me... Yeah that would annoy me and I'd feel upset that the guy knows this happens, counts on it happening, and posts it happening online profiting off not only the dog but me as well.

Leave it to the Dodo to promote shitty training and bad behavior. This isn't adorable or acceptable for any dog breed much less a game bred fighting breed. That thing needs to be on a lease and trained to ignore strangers. Accident waiting to happen
