This progress without ethics thing is something I am very concerned about with computers. For instance, we are currently in a situation where humans build ads and then use AI to target it but we are quickly moving to a situation where ads are created algorithmically or using machine learning and are served up to groups or on an individual basis. The former would be bad but the later would constitute near complete mind control.
