- A crop dusting biplane that I documented near Oelwein, Iowa, on a calm Saturday morning spraying a few of the 13.1 million acres of soybeans in Iowa. I have seen many single fixed wing versions, but a Stearman biplane version was a nice a rare sight for me. I have seen many of the one wing and helicopter versions over the years, but it has been a rare sight for a biplane to be doing the applicating.
I had a Cat painted just likes this with gray fuselage and wings with yellow control surfaces. I went from straight 1340 to a geared 600 later on but flew the same plane from 1992 to 2016 and retired at 68 years of age. I really do miss that plane and this work. The sound of the radial working and turning is the greatest but a good reason why I am deaf and need hearing aids.
nothing looks better than a old gruman ag cat with a pratt and whitney radial engine flying
Nothing lays it down as stable as a biplane...Love how them radial engines sound.
Love em reminds me of when I was a kid. Use to land and take off behind my house.
Cool vid
This Is a Great Video,,, but that's not a Stearman,,, That's a "Cat",,, 10 Times The Airplane... Still It's a Great Video,,, Great Sound,,,,
