Why do Western European countries dominate international football?

- The World Cup, and all international football, has been dominated by Western European nations over the past two decades, and it’s a similar story in European club competitions. Teams from the Premier League, Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A and Ligue 1 routinely lift the Champions League, while France, England, Germany, Spain and Italy are the leading contenders for the World Cup in Qatar, and will be favoured in the next Nations League and Euro 2024 as well. Why do these countries dominate and can anything turn the tide?

Why do England, France, Portugal, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and Croatia from Europe along with Brazil and Argentina from south America always dominate in football is a very good question to ask
Brazil and argentina invested heavly in football as before and for a period after the first world club the most dominant country was uruguay, as they're bigger, richer and more populated thus more impactful than uruguay they became the south american powerhouses along with the imperialist countries in western europe, right now you can see that other countries like equador and peru are getting better results among south american competitions and receiving more european attention, wich will probably result in wc champions from other countries than bra arg uru + western europe in the future, making it even mkre competitive
Correct
- Argentina Finalissimo Cup Winner 2022 (vs. Italy)
- Argentina World Cup Winner 2022 (vs. France)
- Uruguay World Cup Winner 2023 (Sub 20, vs. Italy)
Be humble. Appreciate how you've colonized and enslaved our people for more money and RESPECT us especially Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay 🇧🇷🇦🇷🇺🇾
-Football Olympic Gold medal 2022: Brazil (Vs Spain)
Italy, Spain, Germany and France won the FIFA World Cup making the European continent dominant since 2006
Argentina 2022 win broke that streak
Argentina now put an end to a long period of european dominance, but I doubt that european domination is over. It was just a small breakthrough by a south american team, next wc is probably back to europeans winning it over and over again
@MachineGun once Messi & Neymar retire, South America literally won’t win another World Cup for another 20 years or more lol. Messi is literally the only reason they where able to put a pause on the European domination. When he’s gone it’s gonna be Europeans winning every World Cup, people will eventually get sick of it & jus start calling it euro cup. Since 2006-2022 world cups, South America finished in the top 3 just twice and both of them are because of Messi (2014 arg came 2nd and in 2022 winners.) when he’s gone what’s gonna happen? Also almost all of the upcoming young talent nowadays are coming from Europe so I really don’t see South America winning another World Cup anytime soon.
@@MvK-Delta you ain't seen that coming 😅
@@MvK-Delta yeah most of the upcoming talent is coming from europe even though most of the best teams in the world have key brazilian players in them go check it, once we get a good coach will be back on business, VJ already played much better football on real madrid than neymar did when he started on Barcelona and real madrid purchesed a brazilian player for 70 million euros, we are not going anywhere bruh
@@jgnogueira Brazil will be strong. It’s Argentina that I don’t see being strong after Messi retired
@@MvK-Deltau'll always be inferior stupid trash. Remember the best in history of football will always be SOUTH AMERICAN. The top 5 are all South American but one. Imagine having 3 times the slots yet only being up by 2 world cups
Money and foreign talented players. add the amount of slots of European countries in the WC and of course you'll dominate. But everything it's not forever, congrats to South American WC champions Agrentina.
Only France won with mostly foreign players in 2018. All the other European World Cup winners have won with their own players.
@@sigmaalpha8698 facts
@@sigmaalpha8698 Germany, Italy , Spain all won with origin players
@@MvK-Deltaeven france back in the days had their own origin, their football academies are High, they could use their origin players but they like to be diverse. Their national teams back In the day were only white so
I disagree, How is it that players of African descent are so well represented in Western Europe top leagues with so much under development and poverty? Even football association of most African nations are almost none existent, but the continent of Africa still produce world class talent. If qualifying slots were distributed proportionately across the board Western Europe nations wouldn't dominate the World Cup, and Africa would've most likely won it at least twice.
My guess is that the Africans play well, but it's in Europe that there is a professional league system in place to help promising players reach their full potential as football players. If African countries had the same kind of professional league system in place, they could give European teams a run for their money. It's much like the NBA in the US serving as the premier basketball league in the world and attracting top talent from all over the place.
Many people of african dicesent had themselves or their parents flees Africa due african countries being poor, underdeveloped, in many cases version authoritarian and also having high amount of discrimination in them. Europe is simply better to live in that is why there are so many Africans leaving their country to go to Europe which means also that many of african decent decied to represent a European national team instead of an african national team.
@@HannahHäggAutisticTransWoman but most europeans only represent their nation and are racist
Go look at under 17 and under 20 FIFA world cup, it's dominated by developing countries like Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Nigeria, Ghana and Serbia
So you guys just completed copied Financial Times video about this topic 😂
Forgot to mention that immigration helps European improve it's pool size to draw talents. Wheres in South America, they are all homegrown
Argentina won the 2022 World Cup ❤
I would not put England as favorite at all. Wake up buddy.
Complete utter Bs, Brazil, Argentina, Serbia, Ghana, Nigeria are developing countries that have developed youth systems! Go look at the under 17 and under 20 world cup
😂😂😂yes the western dominant the football BUT thanks to the Africans Muslim American Latin PLAYERS 😂😂😂 IS ONLY FOR THAT REASON …the western is nothing without them😢
you clearly didnt understand the video
But europe plays with their people , why do Africans and muslims come to europe to play? Because euerope is developed and european play fb not attract any talent, their country has enough talent,, they try to be inclusive, that'd why they take in african players and muskims players , infact unites the world,, that's why europe is inclusive and takes jn foreign, even when they clearly play with their own people, europeans are known to be racist so
In fact Germany isn't truly in western Europe more in central Europe.
And also France is more populous than UK use correct statistics.
And maybe western Europe is also the birthplace of football
Uhm, that's a f*cking insult! How dare you! Germany is DEFINITELY Western Europe!
Title should be europe
@@TurboGauchiste UK doesn't participate in the world cup.
England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland do.
