Yea, the avg number of publications, abstracts, posters, etc has doubled in the past 8 years for most specialties. And that’s without mentioning how we’re publishing so many papers that will never be seen. I bet the journal companies are happy tho
I graduated a year early from undergrad and didn't do any research. Thank you for impressing the importance of research upon me! I'll be sure to do more in the future.
Thank you for the shout out Kevin and for always answering my questions. I am so glad I found your channel when I did. You really continue to inspire me.
Hey Jubbal I really want you to cover what made you choose contacts over usual lenses. You always cover why you choose some med decision and this is really important to me. I have been thinking about doing a Lasik and I want to know from your perspective

Hey Dr. Jubbal, I bought the pre-med road map a few years and used it to great success throughout college, now I'm in my last semester and planning on hitting the mcat hard this upcoming spring with 4 free months to dedicate to it. With registration opening next Wednesday, I was wondering if you'd be willing to share / breakdown what all is included in the MCAT course offered by MSI as opposed to other materials from other sources like kaplan or Uworld. Or if you recommend using a blend of several sources. Btw, thank you for your GREAT work 🤙🏻
Great question George and thanks for supporting our work! The MSI MCAT Course is designed to be all-inclusive, so it has content review, practice questions, and practice tests, all with thorough explanations. We also include a series of "Insiders Tip" videos that help you focus on study strategies, avoiding common MCAT studying mistakes, mindset, etc. We also believe the AAMC is the gold standard for practice questions, since they are after all the test makers, so we bundle that in the course in Gold and Diamond tiers. Memm has proven itself to be the most effective memorization tool for the MCAT, and we bundle that in as well for Gold and Diamond tiers too. The number of practice questions and tests you'll get between AAMC materials + MSI MCAT Course is going to be more than enough, and we've designed it that way intentionally so that everything you need is bundled, including Memm which has advantages over other options like Anki. It's been several years in the making, went through multiple iterations and rounds of feedback and improvements, and we're quite proud of the results students are seeing. We have a 510+ guarantee for Gold and Diamond tiers, and also a 10-day money back guarantee so you can test it out before fully committing. Full details on the website here: medschoolinsiders.com/all-courses/mcat-course/
Has the “summerama” code expired? Also, if you purchase MSI courses other than the MCAT one, is there an expiration date? The ones I’ve looked at don’t seem to indicate that there is (just the money back guarantee), and the interview courses say unlimited practice. Additionally, in contrast to what the one commenter said on this video, I actually appreciate your reactions to doctors quitting and issues in the healthcare system. I think that the medical field is very polarized (either glamorized or hated, depending on who you’re talking to) it’s uncommon that you get someone who is responding to criticisms with a balanced view, which is what I think is rare and appreciate about your viewpoints. I actually think that that’s really important for people to hear and to go into the field and through training with eyes wide open. I really appreciated your opinion on Dr. Goodie’s video, and, like you said, this was taken at face value by the public and a lot of influencer physicians without critical thinking or analysis of what he was actually talking about. I thought your opinion was invaluable in that respect, and it was nuanced. I also think that people will see what they want to see, though, so that person is likely starting off with their own assumptions and interpreting your commentary based on their perception/opinion of your situation (i.e. most of your viewers likely cannot understand why you would quit plastics residency). Personally, I don’t assume that you regret leaving or are trying to justify it, because as a non-trad who has been working in healthcare for years I know there are flaws and there is also lots of life to live outside of medicine. I think that the typical premed/med student does not realize that.
Yes. The SummerAMA code has expired but the code on this video is still active: ua-cam.com/video/0dmA1HEDuNs/v-deo.html Thanks for your support and sharing your opinions of the channel.
Im a med Student at UNLV, Excluding community College courses, Nobody cares where you get your undergrad. Big school names don't offer advantage, I had kids from Brown and Cornell that I beat out of a slot because I was a better applicant. I also got into multiple higher ranked med schools in terms of NIH research but UNLV offered me a full ride scholarship. I was also a 3.6 GPA average and scored a 505 MCAT. Your personal statement, LOR and interview skills get you into medical school, not your schools name. That said big schools off opportunities because they have the money for summer programs, internships and research opportunities. That's why their name is valued, if you got to a teir 1 school and don't get into any of their special programs you end up with an expensive degree and no advantage over someone who went to a public undergrad who did.
I was studying psychology recently but I love to do something with my hands and getting better at niche skills so I applied to med school and got accepted. The problem is the only thing I could see myself do in medicine would be neurosurgery, but I worry about my physical health (I’m pretty sure I can handle the mental part), can I get consistent sleep and exercise as a neurosurgeon while excelling at my job?
@@aweisen1 I wasn’t in the or or having conversations with neurosurgeons directly but I worked with med students in my time at uni and got some anecdotal feedback. I also read some books recently and they all resonated with me deeply. I found my love for the nervous system through biological psychology and surgery is a non negotiable too so I think neurosurgery would be the perfect blend. Thank you for reading my comment, I would love to hear your advice!
@@aaaaabcdef8076 absolutely not a good reason to base your future on. Go out, as soon as possible, and shadow some brain cutters. You MUST get actual data and direct experience (you’re a researcher) before you make a decision/conclusion, right?
@@aweisen1 that’s absolutely true, I didn’t even think I would get the opportunity to go into medicine up until a few weeks ago (I’m at uni in Europe) so I’m still trying to figure out what my options and interests are in the healthcare field. @@abrahamdamilola1542 Many schools require 90 credit hours from a US university. It's soooo stupid to be forced to publish unhelpful papers to show I have added more suffering to the pain of med school and USMLE.
