Worth mentioning that Netflix is trying to enforce a change in their terms and conditions in Chile, Costa Rica and Perú in which they will extra charge for every account being used from different IPs in a way to block password sharing. In Chile its being checked by the customer protección agency as it is considered a unilateral change of contract. So Netflix has been losing a lot of suscribers in Latam.

Companies pay to have their ads show up. For example, if Pepsi wanted ads on Netflix, they would pay Netflix an agreed upon amount to run Pepsi ads on Netlfix, likely generated from the amount of subscribers and or views. The main reason Disney got special district status - it's not the only one - is because the county wasn't equipped to provide the services, and had no clue how to handle theme park construction. Special district status allowed them to set the appropriate building codes, and install the necessary infrastructure quickly. (Disney even had a better telephone company than anywhere else in Florida for years.) The one power they don't have is the power to arrest you - the county maintains a sheriff's station on the property for that. (Like any business, they can detain you until an officer arrives, given the right circumstances.) It's one of the better laws the state legislature ever managed to pass, given what Central Florida was like Before Disney compared to now, and due mostly to Disney.
As icing on DeSantis's cake, in their rush to punish Disney, they forgot that if the special district goes away, Orange County has to immediately pick up the annual tab (over $100 million) for all the services Disney now funds, and probably absorb a billion dollars in debt because the bond issues originally backed by Disney will almost certainly transfer to them. (Or, rather, the county taxpayers.) Someone did introduce an amendment to the state senate bill to study the side effects, but it was immediately voted down in favor of immediately rescinding the special district. And I thought Florida politics was bad when I lived there 20+ years ago...

Yup. During the elections, Texas went to the Supreme Court to go after Georgia's and Pennsylvania's election results (lost both challenges). Trump went after CA's own car emission standards. During covid (April 13th, 2020) Trump said the Constitution gave him total control over all states. And of all of these cases (and others) no Rep Congressman, Senator or state official said a word.
What's kind of scary is Florida's Governor Ron DeSantis has been
extremely successful as one of the few Republican politicians to be able to harness the fanatics votes from former President Donald Trump's fan base. What's scary is DeSantis similarities to Trump, except without any of the distractions or self-destructing tendencies. My personal opinion, for what it is worth, is that he is setting himself up for a presidential campaign, especially if Trump doesn't or isn't able to run for office.
Actually now that you mention it, I don't think DeSantis has actually called himself 'a republican' since his last election. When asked, he generally says things like "I support Trump and freedom!" and other non-answers. He's too scared if he mentions that he's tied to a political party, the few moderates left on his side will start realizing he hasn't supported a single one of their core values.

I don't know how it is in other states, but I have noticed in Florida NOBODY tells you which party they are affiliated with. When they mention the big " C ", I take that to mean they are Conservative/Republican. And in case someone misses that clue, they throw in how they are Pro-gun and/or Pro-life...which I think is a contradiction.
Yard signs, billboards, tv ads, they no longer use Republican or Democrat, but Conservative.
I don’t know why a company like Disney would settle in Florida in the first place. place is unstable
Remember Blockbuster Videos? I didn't think so.
No Ron, you are the people, we know that already.
If they add ads I swear I'm done with Netflix
and yet you still use UA-cam. imagine if you had to pay for it.
@@anoobis117 Adblockers exist...
Me too
@@anoobis117 and yet I have UA-cam premium, not seen an ad for years. The moment I see one ad on Netflix I'm cancelling my subscription and I'm a subscriber from the first month it was available in my country.
@@BoredMarcus giving money to youtube to get rid of ads just gives them funding for more ads
They gotta stop releasing half a season of a show at a time. So annoying
Exactly
That's just covid.
They do that so you'll hold onto your membership until the second half comes out.
Ozark
and stop that very 80´s: I give u 1-2 part of the series once in a week. That is annoying too. I prefer 1 season or more.
if there will be ads, better watch tv, you have to pay for data too. its too much hassle
Meanwhile somewhere in South Africa... Sizwe is jumping for joy that Trevor mentioned him. 😉
Costa's examination of Netflix was hilarious 🤣
Watching UA-cam for free while being bombarded with ads is understandable. But paying for something and still get ads? That' going to be a tough sell.
Living in NYC there are so many movie theatres that play all kinds of film....foreign films, independent films, blockbuster films, old classic films, etc. that I don't really need Netflix or for that matter, any of the streaming services.
the netflix chart analysis is outstanding haha
When times are hard, Netflix is the first to go. This is some great Kosta material.
I loved that segment at the end with him so much lol
Also just had two price hikes. This is a non-story tbh
We have the stupidest financial system on the planet. Netflix lost some subscribers and dropped a tiny bit in terms of real value, and suddenly it's stock price plummeted because some old hedge fund managers got jittery, and that's so much considered the "value" of the company that they are changing their financial practices in a way that will probably lose them more subscribers in order to make the line move back up in the short term. The stock price dropped /because/ of a real drop in the value of the company, which means that this real value is measurable, but instead we use how jittery a bunch of old white guys are at any given moment as the basis for our economy, and let it effect our decisions more than the real problems any institution faces. It's like a jacked up bizarro version of using a groundhog to predict the weather except our punxsutawney phil is a bunch of Republican donors and if David Koch sees his shadow and gets startled, Netflix halves in value until lil Davy comes out of his hole.
Exactly.
Speculative investors (economic gamblers imo) can be traced back as the root cause of a myriad of economic problems worldwide. Netflix is the least of our worries. We can live without netflix..
It's important stuff like raw lumber, that hedge funds are buying up all supply of and driving prices into the stratosphere. The supply and availability of raw lumber hasnt changed much, the tree kept growing during covid but the price has quadroupled.
Same goes for oil, russia is still happily selling it's oil and supply has remained pretty much stable but stockmarkets are buying up all supply and driving prices.
There are _no_ shortages, just a minority of rich people getting richer by hoarding resources and making it seem like supply doesn't meet demand.
I grew up near Disneyheim Anaheim CA.
Oh please. Netflix isn't even considering using ads for existing subscribers. They're simply thinking about adding a new ad-supported tier at a lower price, to attract people who are not currently subscribed. This is why you don't turn to comedians for commentary on anything related to business and finance.
Netflix: Increases prices
Consumers: share passwords and leave the platform
Netflix: Wait what?
Well as a person in the Caribbean, Netflix truly is our only choice for online content 😕 the major players dont really service us. And even when they do, most cable/content providers lump us with spanish packages even when your country is very very English 😒
I have a friend in the VIs who just hops from VPN to VPN that give free 3-month subscriptions, and watches whatever they want.
@@danielgehring7437 These people encourage us to remain pirates
@@danmon1823 I mean... you live in the Caribbean, it's kind of your birthright, lol.
I don't understand why cable providers do that, my country speaks English why so much Spanish content.
Mickey let his inner Florida out on Ron DeSpectic😂😂
ok that quip on exon was perfect
The ONLY reason I still have Netflix is because it was the first streaming network I ever had back in like the early 2010s and it was dirt cheap. Other than that, I barely use it because the content is awful. I tell myself every month to unsubscribe, but keep it for sentimental value. if they add ads, I definitely will.
For SURE.Almost done myself. That would be the last straw
The add tier wouldn't affect your current subscription. Infact it may help them stop raising prices on current subscription tiers.
Same reason I am still subscribed to Brazzers.
Agree
I still have DVD's in their sleeves from them 🤐
Ads? Sure way to loose a lot more customers!
I understood that there will be a cheaper tarif for People accepting ads?
@@stekon9112 Lol.. how innocent.
On you think Netflix will give ad version at cheaper price than current.
Infact they will jack up no ad prices and offer ad version at current price.
That right.. as long as you remain sub, the screws will keep getting tighter
@@stekon9112 the result will be the same: keep your current price and put up with ads or get rid of ads and pay more.
