I owned type R 1998 ...bought from Charlesworth Garage Plumtree in Nottingham, number 3 piston went and the bottom end was rebuilt using cosworth pistons because of the fuel rating in the UK...must say awesome car...
Nice Vid!!! I'm an original owner of a 2002 Bugeye STI with 33,000km on the clock (Blue, gold rims, big wing) its my pride & joy!! I absolutely love the Subaru brand and will buy a V3 Type R like this one to park right beside the Bugeye!!
To be honest, your commenting is awesome. I’ve come back to this video no lie everyday. The only difference is I have the air bag model and the royal blue gauges. You explain everything in great detail!! Thank you my guy!! You’re a true wordsmith how you describe this beautiful unicorn!!
@ariesanfilippo1078 Outside cues are a bit hard to tell them apart, but inside the V3 and earlier had same size tachometer and speedometer (mostly black) , while V4 to V6 had one a bit bigger than the other and they are both white.
@ariesanfilippo1078 main difference between v3 and a v4 is the v3 had a pre face-lift interior....the v3 only came with blue dials and 555 seats...the v3 and v4 both had face-lift headlights but with pre face-lift front bumper and that 3 piece front lip also the v4 had a face-lift dashboard with white dials and normal sti embroided seats..... I own a v3 type r with 35k miles in white
The reliability of these engines is actually pretty terrible actually, there is an inherent weakness with the bottom end bearing design and they always let go. There's multiple companies in the UK which pretty much just exist to rebuild these engines. I didn't believe the hype and my V3 Type R bottom end started knocking 2 weeks after I bought it. The later 2.0 blocks were much stronger, then the 2.5 came along and was absolutely terrible again 😂.
easy said get 1 = and what about the cost = your review is lacking in real street living every day = $250,000 for a 2 door early STI - rare as hens teeth = wake up to your comment ! = so listen any subaru with a turbo - early is a great car and aftremarket parts are plenty = my $40k 2001 forester is a great example = super car killer !

They sold them as the Impreza retna in Japan, too.
