      @Jerry Andersen Actually, lights are bad for hamsters because they like dark. The light makes hamsters stressed so they are more likely to not like their enclosure. It may look good to humans but that hamster must be really stressed.

    • @mallogallo36
      @mallogallo36 4 роки тому +2

      @Jerry Andersen As the pets caretaker, it's your goal to give them the most naturalistic environment because they can't choose their surroundings. You are making comparisons to the pet store conditions which have well documented links to hamster abuse, as well as city conditions which is not reflective of a naturalistic environment.
      Don't make assumptions, there is a near decade old study on it here asdresearchinitiative.wordpress.com/2013/08/07/red-light-blue-light-and-white-light-hamsters-and-mood/ . Hamster need a light cycle to know when to get up, just like humans. A light in his nest will confuse his circadian rhythm. If you want an accent light for your enclosure, make it on the outside. The light is for your enjoyment, not for theirs; use it when you want to enjoy your hamster and his enclosure.

      @Jerry Andersen adding artificial light to a hamster could mess with how they sleep and the hamster won't benifit from the light other than getting stress and what if he chews it

    While this is really cute, this is way too small for a hamster. The RSPCA recommends cages are at least 80x50cm (most hamster cages sold in pet shops are too small). Also, hamsters have poor eye sight and mostly rely on their brilliant sense of smell, so the lightbulb in the hideaway does nothing for the hamster except cause a hazard if the hamster chews the wires. Finally, I don't know what materials you used, but for hamster cages you need to use pet safe glues, varnish and sealants because they chew. I think this looks really cool (I couldn't make something like this) and a bit bigger with pet safe materials and it'll be awesome. ErinsAnimals does some great hamster care videos that you should check out :)

    It's sweet that you made a cage, but this is still a poor house for a hamster. The wires of the bulb are still available for the hamster to chew on- as is the bulb! You've also got no wheel in there, which hamsters need as they naturally run about 6 miles per night. And hamsters need several inches of bedding. You haven't even given the hamster one inch, and they need a minimum of 5 inches, ideally more. Hamsters are burrowing animals, and need to be able to do this in their cage.

    I like the design but the cage size is way too small. The light is also dangerous because the hamster could chew on it. Hamsters are also natural borrowers and require a minimum of 6 inches of bedding. Considering your building skills, I imagine you could easily make an upgraded cage. Hamsters also require more enrichment than this such as a sand bath and a wheel to run on.
    For hamster info, I watch Victoria Raechel on UA-cam but I also recently started watching Plüschraupe too and they make really sick cages.

    Why put a light into a hanster cage because first thing is they are nocturnal and can eat the wires and die. Also hamsters need at least 6 inches of bedding in half there cage. And you need to provide them with chew toys to keep them busy and to wear down there teeth. Hamsters run around 5 to 10 miles EVERY NIGHT so you must provide them with a wheel and hamsters need more hiding spots and tubes!😩😬

      @@manseiysraelbantiyan1700 well, you could make it be big enough for 30 dwarfs, but you would most likely have to separate them, because they would definitely start some sort of fight 😂😂🤷🏽‍♀️
