  • This episode of Prambanan Ramayana concludes in a very contrasting way. Even if you know The Epic Ramayana well, you are going to be surprised. The unseen carvings of Lava and Kusha are depicted on the walls of Prambanan temple will blow your mind. Did Rama find his sons and reunite with the love of his life? And also, is Valmiki a character in this?

Thank you Praveen. Its amazing to see an epic that was written millenia ago still ring true today. We hold morally bankrupt individuals both men and women in high regard as the age of modernism. On a side note, I am amused the cameo of Saint Valmilki (?) reminds me of this Stan Lee appearances in the MCU as part of the story telling. Thank you for bringing the epic into life with your story telling. Looking forward to your next project

Prambanan temple reliefs do tell the story of the Ramayana, but what is depicted there is the life of Javanese society. You won't find Ganesha with rasagola, because Javanese people don't eat that. Balinese people are not vegetarian, even beef is consumed.

As per tulsidas and some other saints, uttar kand(last chapter of ramayana) never occurred/took place. Otherwise in Tulsidas Ramayana these major incidents must have been described. Many believe that because of the threatening of indian islamic kings of 16th century, contemporary literateur added this chapter to valmiki ramayan, so that lord Rama's image could be maligned. Just to save their life they had to do it.

You have explained a very moving story. I lived in Australia and we followed a spiritual master, Meher Baba. The children would perform a play each year, each anniversary of the Masters visit. My son Ravi was chosen to play Rama and he played a beautiful Rama. He was about 17. This was 25 years ago. During this time I read an illustrated Ramayana to my children each night and we got really involved in the story. I also painted a large backdrop to the play and used the illustrations of the book for that. In your story you highlight so many details I did not know, clarify so much. God bless you for your work. 🙏🙏🙏❤️ of course I still follow my Master but now I live in Peru.

My wife is Balinese Hindu, in her believes sita is the incarnation of godess sri/ laksmi (goddess of rice and harvest) and in Balinese Ramayana after sita descend to the earth a rice plants grow after the fisure closed. And in balinese Hindu they believe the rice plant originally come from sita. That's why in Balinese Ramayana is told in sita perspective and she is the main character in Ramayana not rama. And in Bali after the rice harvest they still celebrate by giving an offering to dewi sita/dewi sri (her name in Balinese & Javanese language)

Praveen, I love your awesome interpretations of the ancient carvings, while watching this video, a question popped into my mind, if Kusha is made by Valmiki, why wasn't he given the same skin tone as Luva? I don't think that he would make such a simple blunder. And it hurts our feelings that Laksham wants to take revenge on Sita, No, he loves Sita as one child loves his mother.

Praveen thank you very much for clarifying your viewers that Bhagwan Valmiki's Ramsyan ends at the coronation. There are multiple researches and ancient copy of scriptures which all suggest that Ramayana Uttarkand the 7th chapter is a later addition by someone else and has no authenticity. BORI is one of those elite research organizations researching on Ramayana & Mahabharata for last 5 decades.

You cannot, off-hand, dismiss oral tradition which respects every version for it’s own worth, creating a rich tapestry. It only enriches the epic. How can you prove that Valmiki wrote a particular version? Which version was it? Was there even a sage named Valmiki? And why would anyone take the time, effort and money to build a beautiful temple, adorned with this narrative? And what are the qualifications and on what authority do your preferred sources make such a pronouncement? There is only so much that scholarship can attempt when such matters are concerned. To claim infallibility is sheer hubris.

Ah. Another - and the final - installment in this great mini-series covering a variant of the Ramayana. I was starting to worry a little why the hang up😅
It's been really great having the epic detailed out in this fashion, going from carving to carving. And as always a joy having it detailed out by meticulous, yet also humouristic Mohan. I've had the great fortune to visit Hampi and see the magnificent Shri Krishna Swamy temple twice with several years in between. This temple also has the Ramayan told in a great many carved panels and pillars all along the temple walls. First visit I didn't know much about Indian culture, I was just highly fascinated by the sheer scope of work having gone into all those carvings and how masterfuly they were all executed. Second time around I knew better how to read those panels and also knew both the narrative of Ramayana and much. much more about the culture in which it takes place. No small thanks to our mr. Mohan here, btw. Great thank you for your passion and your perseverance in telling the world about it. Much appreciated in my effort at understanding India and it's huge diversity and varied heritage.
As a suggestion for future investigative videos, may I suggest Sigiriya in Shri Lanka? Namely in relating to Ramayan, This rock is supposed to the very mountain Shri Hanuman threw ontop Ravana to enable Rama to get Sita. It has a old palads and a temple build on top; the former subjects of Ravana having made their new ruler's home on top of where Ravana lies buried to make sure they were the first to know if he ever somehow should manage to claw his way out from beneath the mountain pinning him down. Which he is trying to, as the giant "lion" claws carved on either side of the ascending stairway to be clutching at the ground is symbolic of. This place highly intrigues me. I haven't been there yet, but I intend to. So naturally I wonder what someone like you, sir would be able to notice and relate, and in so doing help me prepare for my own visit someitme in an as of yet unspecified - yet not too distant - future. Could be, in fact, you have already done a video on the place. I seem to have a vague memory of this or similar. So. If you'll consider going there and make a (new) video (maybe emphasising Ravana rather than the Ramayana, if indeed you have already made on previously), I'll start rummaging trough your catalogue of videos to see what else I might have missed or forgotten about.

Lord Rama sends away his pregnant wife Sita Devi to the forest due to political issues/turmoil caused by the washer man and his wife who is in reality was the demon King's sister Soorpanakhaa and her husband, in disguise. They did that in order to take revenge towards Lord Rama and Sita, and as a King Lord Rama had to take a wise decision for His Praja (Kingdom).
However when Lord Rama sends his pregnant wife Sita Devi away to the deep forest He is cleary aware that Sage/Maharishi Valmiki's Ashram was nearby. Just imagine the Divine vibrations and blessings that She, Sita Devi and Her twin babies Lava & Kusha would attain by living in Maharishi Valmiki's Ashram along with so many other Enlighten Masters. Just try to imagine once again what would be the environment and surroundings be like to grow up in such a place....?
Instead of accusations, hatred, gossips, humiliation, curses and plots by Her own Praja (Kingdom). It's better to live in a more positive environment. This will not only help Her but also to ensure positive growth and safety of her babies too.
There's nothing more humiliating when someone ask who is your real father?
In the eyes of society Sita was send to the forest to establish Dharma (Righteousness) but in the eyes of Rama his wife and children are safe in Valmiki's Ashram. That is also to establish his Dharma as a good husband, father, King and God.
Not only that, He also send Hanuman to over see, protect, and take care the well being of Sita and her babies. That's why Hanuman was in Valmiki's Ashram too. Hanuman will never be away from Lord Rama even for a second without Lord Rama's instructions. That is how devoted Hanuman is towards Lord Rama. So with Lord Rama's order Hanuman stayed along with Sita Devi, Lava and Kusha at Valmiki's Ashram.
