Just because you are marriage does mean you can stay. You can stay but you won't have id card or driver's license or get officially employed. After marriage you have to file different papers to get a green card. The process can take 6months to over a year to get a Green card, it depends on how fast you get your papers filed and your pocket wallet lol. Hope this helps.
