That is an awesome repair. I had a stroke about 10 months ago and your videos help me retrain my brain. I used to fix them all the time but I’ve lost some of it. Thank you so much!
65 seconds to solder a SouthBridge? Well, then, please, don't let anyone ask how long it would take me ... (at least 5 times longer, if I did it right on the first try, ugh)... Impressive! Otherwise, excellent repair job (SB & DVD). Thank you very much for sharing.
The preheater makes it possible to be quick with the hot air. Without it, it's going to take a lot more heat directly on the South Bridge or whatever large chip I'm removing or installing.
@@ToltecMercYes Master, thanks to seeing you using it, I ordered one similar to yours on Ali/ss. Mexican customs (managed by the military on all the country's borders) detained him at the end of last year and I don't want problems with those guys. I will request it again in my brother's name and give his address (San Antonio, TX). I need it to reflux the CPUs of current LED TVs (Samsung & LG, to mention two brands, do not sell individual CPUs to the public). Fortunately, shopjimmy sells us the complete mainboard, at a fair (very reasonable) price that the owner of the device almost always accepts and we only charge him for the diagnosis. In the end when we try to return the damaged card he ends up giving it to us (spare parts). I have learned so much about measuring equipment and tools for work, on your channel, that I did not want to miss the opportunity to tell you on this occasion. Thank you very much for your very useful content and mainly for your time dedicated to it. All the best. PS: (17:55 - 18:00) I hope the laser assembly is not missing... lol, sometimes some people "forget" to return it...
Realky like your video's! Just wondering if you like the agilent 1253b mutimeter more than your Fluke mutimeters? I have a fluke 289 and I'm looking for a 2nd mutimeter and was looking at yhe fluke 87-5 but the agilent 1253b you've been using has peaked my curiosity any thoughts?
I've used hot air to get the stickiness back on a few sets of ps4 disc drive rollers, once you see the material turn slightly more see through you know it is hot enough
I loved your work aligning (synchronizing or putting in time) that DVD mechanism. Teacher: is it true that the DVD is "married" to the mainboard? Excellent repair. A sincere congratulations. Thank you very much for sharing. All the best.
There is an IC on the board inside the Blu-Ray drive that is married to the APU. You can move the entire board or the chip to another drive. This is true for the early "Fat" PS5s. The PS5 Slim Blu-Rays can be swapped and re-married.
@@ToltecMerc Thank you very much Sir. Understood. I will order that complete unit on Ali/ss to have it (avoid the delay for it to arrive). Very kind to answer me -Thank you again-. An affectionate greeting from Mexico.
Good advice with the preheater. I always use one now. Gives me confidence that the board is hot enough to allow the chip to flow. Btw I finally got to use your Bench PSU 300 ma test 😂 love it! Helped with an SSD issue
Another southbridge bites the dust. Nice clean job. Did you ever encounter a Ps5 playing ps4 games disc based but not Ps5 games? Got myself one today, swapped the laser and now only read ps4 games. And if it plays ps4 games than it should have no trouble with ps5 bluray based discs..right.
I would think if the laser is good it would read any Blu-Ray disc whether PS4 or PS5. I have heard of a PS5 not being able to play PS5 games or sometimes PS4 games.
@@ToltecMerc Same thpught, never seen it before. Think ill swap another laser or complete known working disc drive and mobo. Thank you for answering overseas friend🤝

Great video as always! Any chance you would like to share your air flow and heat settings for this job?
Keepem coming buddy!!
Excellent repair video as usual. How can you know which AliExpress shops are selling genuine ICs?
That's the million dollar question, in my experience you need to assume all ICs on ali are fake...
There are no guarantees with AliExpress. I have been fortunate with PS5 parts so far. I have received fake PS4 power supply parts in the past.
great video as always learning alot from you. also what brand was that electric screwdriver? looked like it was good quality

Honey wake up! ToltecMerc has a new video out!
That's right! Don't miss a single episode!

I do like the fast update speed of the Agilent meters. I have a few Flukes but they are all older models.

Hmmm. I never tried heating the rollers. Good tip! Thanks!

Beauty! Nice work!
Thank you very much!
nice disk drive repair to remind me for later :)
Thanks! Best of luck in all your repairs!
when they used manual eject, they probably did too many turns the wrong way, or partially ejected it then just yanked out the rest of the way
I'm sure someone was a little too aggressive.

Excellent! I'm glad you were able to figure it out!
Another awesome job
I appreciate that! Thanks!
You the Man 🙂, great fix
Thanks! I do appreciate that! Come back for more!
good job ! Master, could you list the PlayStation model numbers in your videos? Thank you, greetings from the Czech Republic
I will try to remember that.
Nice repair. What is temperature of your heatgun
Somewhere between 350C and 400C with the help of the preheater.
@@ToltecMerc thanks
What electrical scewdriver you are using?
It is a DOINOW B1 Mini Electric Screwdriver.
@@ToltecMerc Do a review of it at some point.
Very nice. Do you have a recommendation on a uart reader for PS5? Although I’m not completely sold on it yet it is coming.
I have this one. It can be set to 3.3V which is needed for PS5. www.amazon.com/dp/B07BBPX8B8?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
