Almost impossible to believe 1.2 16v non turbo petrol!!! Good on you!!! Obviously this is very true video!!! This little girl revs up lovely!!!, cleanly, quickly especially given engine size and measured output, really is great!!! No slouch for a 1.2 no Turbo!!! Brilliant!! Video is fab too!! Who wouldn't want a car like this really??? I've driven and owned 1.8, 2 litre Turbo and 2.2 and wouldn't ever disrespect this lovely 1.2. The bigger engines DO go a fair bit!! But this is just magic! Cheaper running costs and insurance etc...and it looks lively!! Can't fault it!! Great Video pal, great car!
Its interesting that on every market this car was sold with a variety of different engines. Its still a common car in Hungary, where it was very succesful, even when Opel started to sell the H Astra, this remained in production until 2010, so they will be common for years to come. 1.2 liter engine is rare though, and i can tell that even 1.4 is underpowered. 1.6-1.8 is the ideal choice if you drive it often on highways. This one in the video is a very low mileage car, but even 500K+ Astras hold up pretty well (probably not with this engine..:DD). Almost Toyota reliability but parts are much cheaper for these in comparison with the Corollas.
My brother had Astra 1,4 twinport 90 hp, he drive that car more then 10 years without any major issue, he only changed batteries and front disk brakes, engine and electronics works like a Swiss watch...
my grandad had one from new german salon and brought it to Poland but he did many trips to germany, very reliable and easy to maintain. He never had a problem with it for like 22 years, but he sold it not too long ago to buy a 2017 skoda fabia.. I loved that car

I had the 65 BHP version, X12XE Euro 2, Astra G from 1999. Bad engine is an understatement. Everything electric went wrong. Underpowered and thirsty for fuel and oil.
haha Astra G with 1.2 is really rare. This one is also full equipped - manual everything, no AC ;) I did not think, that there was such a really base version in 2001 , so after first lifting (NEW GAUGES), on German market.
This one doesn't even have buttons for controlling the windows or mirrors, in some countries in south america even the digital clock and radio together with the chrome plastic where optional. They really cut costs in everything they could
Very good video , I suggest you try Vectra a or B with 2.0 engines , especially vectra a 2.0i 8v or 16v Great great cars , would be some fire videos to watch , keep it up

Hello bro, nice video. 2.0 GSI atmos 156 hp Opel Astra F 2.0 atmos Vectra B 2.0 Turbo Vectra C 2.0 Turbo Astra H GTC vb. please make a video about this cars ?
My brother had this 1.7CDTI Diesel car from Isuzu. The car itself was not bad, the light bulb illuminating the counter burned out and the tachometer burned out and the fan burned out and the window control did not work. The condition of the body for Opel was good, but the engine ... It was total rubbish. If the turbine did not fall, the oil pump fell and the cylinder liners broke. Give this engine a wide berth. I will add the notorious leaks from the connection of the gearbox and engine as well as the valve cover.
I totally agree, astar g is okay car, but isuzu engine no - head gasket failure, injection pump controller 2x defect, problem with gearbox, poor performance and it heats up for a long time to 90 degrees
CDTI is not an isuzu engine, only the engine block comes from Isuzu. The old 1.7 DI engines (from Isuzu) are the ones which do a million kilometers, but those are simplier and weaker (70 ps or something like that). The best diesels ever built in any Opel to this day.
1.6 8v is older generation engine(other engine family in GM system, 1982 based (wikipedia)), era where most petrol engines were consuming 8-10l/100km. 1.2 16v is based on engine family from 1996, and that's a whole new era, with advanced computing technologies and fuel efficiency in mind. It's about the beggining of 6l/100km city car era. Look at Renault 1.2, Toyota 1.0, Peugeot 1.1 and others from late 90's-early 00's
