I live on a lake and am experienced boater. Just sold my 2018 Cobalt R5 Surf for what I paid for it new. The market is very strong now but more for trailerable boats. I was willing to do it because I could order what I wanted for next spring. The Great Loop is definitely on my bucket list!

A lot of good points. Last year we upgraded our boat and could really see the demand that was placed on the used boat market. We were thankful enough to get the biggest boat we could fit on a trailer for our family of 5 with small kids for taking week long trips.

Yeah we were pretty nervous. We surveyed our boat on March 5 and had a contract in place on the 10th and then the market plummeted on the 16th. We thought long and hard about trying to get out of the deal and are so so glad we did not.

Do you see the market becoming flooded in a few years down road when the country opens up and people don’t want to be boat owners anymore?
Per Curtis Stokes: "I do not see the boating inventory apocalypse so many buyers are predicting. I think it is a bit too much wishful thinking on the part of some buyers hoping for a return to a buyers market in their favor. I do believe the intense boat sales market will slow down some, but this will allow some more inventory for the multitude of buyers in the market. The market will become more balanced rather than swing to another extreme, depending on the overall economy. There is so much liquidity being pumped into the economy that I worry more about inflation than a downturn. Also, boat buying is an emotional purchase and not a business decision. We are also still full of baby boomers in the marketplace searching for a fun activity and bucket list items, so adventures like the Great Loop will keep attracting new boat buyers for quite some time."
