I could not relate more than when you said to not let your older WIPs languish because your stitching style will change!! I’ve got several pieces that I feel the same way about, especially one that’s part of a series! Anyways amazing wip parade❤❤❤
Wow! You are soooo funny. I am 75 and just started cross stitching a few years ago. I don't have many wips . Also I usually stitch on 14 and 16 Aida. I loved the blocks you did in 14 CT , partridge in a pear tree etc. your work is beautiful. Just think, if you don't finish certain ones ,when you take them out, you will remember the story that goes with it. And it will make you smile. Thanks for the wip parade. I enjoyed it
💝I loved seeing all of your beautiful stitching, your project bags and hearing about your 2025 plans! I am an Aida stitcher and when you get ready to “let go” of the Aida projects that you aren’t going to finish, I will be ready to give them a new home!!😊
Ah! I’m a January (29th) baby too! I just found you and I’m soooo glad I did! I actually took notes…an unusual move for this four + decade stitcher (and quilter/knitter/tatter!). Thank you for inspiring and informing me today-I look forward to watching again!
This is the funnest, most refreshing and honest WIP Parade I have ever seen! Thank you so much for going to the work of making such a long video! Maybe you could use some of your partial finishes in constructing project bags? I feel really inspired to get out some old projects. Looking forward to greeting some of your new project tracker cards and getting organized! ❤
If you aren't happy with some of the wips you have done on aida, you should watch the Evertote flosstubes wip parade. Caroline of Evertote has decided to do a scrap journal with all of the projects that she does not want to finish. Clever idea.
Also a fudger!! Guess what! Sue is dyeing LFA in small batches!! Rachel should have some in the coming days! Also, I saw Mt Vernon has a special exhibit this week and I need you to go see it please!!
I really enjoyed your WIP parade. I get it with the aida dilemma, maybe you can allow a viewer to have an opportunity to "finish the stitch" for you and just start again. Knowing that someone else will finish it and enjoy it may help to feel a little better about UFOing it. or if it is a stitch you really love and it's almost finished then finish it. However, If you really can't stand the fabric give yourself some grace and call it done. Maybe you can salvage bits and parts of the stitch into a fully finish. On the twelve days of Christmas...I like the idea of doing the rest on the smaller count and mixing them. Anyways just a few ideas. I love your projects and just Keep Stitchin. :)
Hi Kari I too started with Aida and have a few finishes. There are some not finished like you I want to put them on linen now that I'm stitching on 36 count. One that I am starting over is Let Love Reign Teresa Kogut I stitched it on Lugana with 2 strands and don't like it. So now I'm using 36 count Flax with 1 strand over 2 and with my own color conversion and loving it so far!!
Thanks for sharing and yes you have enabled me! I am trying to motivate myself to finish older WIPs too! I’ve thought of different ways eg one I. and one out … So just to make sure I understand, if you complete a row of bubbles of all the same colour you earn a new start? Ie 6 rows, 6 new starts? I’m 50 this year and so tempted to start 50!
Woohoo. Happy Nifty 50 to you. There are 49 bubbles….10 bubbles equals one new start. There are 5 new start bubbles so I gave myself a freebie bubble to start. 😉
I would suggest to bite the bullet and adopt out the stitches you will not finish for whatever reason. I know there would be stitchers that would be so excited to have these ❤
Wow! I love the 12 Days on aida with the silk. I am still an Aida stitcher, although I am planning to try lugana soon. I felt stressed with my 7 WIPS, LOL. I am trying to get it down to two or three otherwise I will lose interest and never get back to them. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for sharing your WIPs. You are so inspiring! Also, have you seen the preorder for “Jessie Challinor, 1904” in the latest newsletter from The Attic? When I first saw it I immediately thought of you. SO colorful!❤
Great video. Love your saltbox houses from Plum Street. I’m a 14 ct aida stitcher so I think it’s great. I don’t have those charts but love Plum street, might have to get them and copy you. You are so inspiring!
I’m 60 in 2026, and trying my best NOT to burden myself with any 60-influenced-plans. But I easily have 60 projects in my WIPs and Kits so we’ll see if I make it. I loved your parade, but I didn’t even bother to show the Aida and Lugana abandoned projects that are in my UFO box since I don’t really count them as WIPs. You could get that 32 number right on down if you would watch this entire video back and see the expression on your face when you talk about those projects that you *know* you are done with. One of my favorite quotes is don’t keep making a mistake just because you have been making it a long time. 😂 Seriously, you learned a lot from those pieces. Art doesn’t have to be finished to have taught you skills. Decide what you love and want in your house, and unkit the rest. Think how many more project bags you would free up! 💗💗💗
Lots of great projects! If you choose to abandon some you might offer them to your viewers to “adopt” and finish. I’ve moved on to linen and find Aida isn’t my favorite anymore.
Just my two cents on the projects that do not bring you joy (also known as two strand projects), I think you should bite the bullet and finish any that are at 80-90% complete. Then with those remaining, see if you can complete a section or motif enough to make it look great as part of a project bag (I mean you may need up to 50 new ones right?). On the 12 Days of Christmas by Liz Mathews, I like the idea of just doing the rest in a "one strand" count and having a mix of them. I think you can still do the quilt idea. The newer ones would need strips of fabric around them in order to make their block as big as the 14 count ones. Or go with Jessica and make some trees and some the blocks. I'm excited for your year! Happy Birthday!
Thanks for sharing your WIP parade. On the Liz Matthews 12 days of Christmas on 14 ct Aida ... could you use them in making a project keeper or bag? They'd be very pretty and out where you could see them.
I really love your energy! And your WIPs! I used to use aida but recently started a sampler on 36ct linen. I love the look but may I ask what magnifier you use? Im having the darndest time seeing the holes and counting. I have an old 2x magnifier but I need something stronger.
I've stitched the 36 count linen (and higher) two different ways. One I use the magnifier & light combo from the Halo Go Light. This in combination with my standard 2.0/2.5 glasses. OR I have an overhead light and use 4.0 mag readers. This takes some adjustment to hold everything close, but you can see the holes easy peezy.
I love all your "stuff"!! Do you plan on using all that fabric or do you sell it? Just wondering as I am clearly nosey, lol, and it is beautiful!! Have a wonderful weekend 💃💃
I had to laugh at 50 starts when you turn 50. I’m turning 75 in November this year so I asked my daughter if I should start 75 projects and she said “NO!!”😂
Been anxiously waiting to see this because I too am a maker of all the things who is trying to not take on too much this year and work on what I have on hand. I'm loving the hair today, looks amazing!!
Happy New year Kerry , loved this episode u are always so fun . I have slowly come to the same conclusion about many of my pre 2024 WIPS ! recording mine on Floss tube tomorrow along the same lines , feel much more comforted that I am not alone with these feelings , we have so much good stuff to love in our stash so feel we should not feel bad about focusing on the ones that bring us most joy x Thanks for you honesty as always xx
This was really awesome, Kari!!! Love your plans especially for next year... just really sad you are no longer finding joy in your Aida projects.... I just love Aida too much, and don't mind using 2 strands (loop method starter here, LOL)... I know you will find joy with whatever fabric you use, and I like Jessica's idea of mixing things up... you could do that with your Aida/Linen Liz Mathews' 12 Days of Christmas... just a thought! See you soon!!!
Thank you for a fun WIP parade! It was nice to hear your thoughts on what you were keeping amd what wasn't making the cut. It's amazing to see how much we've grown over the years! I can't even imagine starting 50 things in one year. It sounds like you'll be up to a ton of stitchy fun this year. Happy early birthday friend! 🎉
Plans sound good, and writing it down is a great way to see your progress. Nifty 50 can be done, I'd choose a bunch of smalls to start, and if you stay on track then add in some larger designs.
I loved seeing all your WIPS! I too have projects on Aida and linen in various counts. I would try to finish the ones that are almost done and just restart the ones that are barely worked on. Maybe you could use the completed Aida stitches from some of the series to make project bags or something. That way you get a useful item from the beautiful stitching and you can restart the charts on linen so all the pieces will match. Thanks for sharing the graphs with us. I love a good to do list. ❤
Loved seeing your wip parade! I was thinking for Liz’s 12 days of Christmas samplers that you have finished, why not make them into project bags, then if you still love the series, restart on a fabric you now love! You’d have bags to put them in, lol!
Your 49 bubbles and Nifty Fifty charts are so creative! Genius!! Sad to see you out of love with your lower count aida wips. As a higher count linen stitcher, I often switch to an aida for my big girl projects. I just think they go faster, more relaxing and look so smooth on the lower counts. I don’t know how I missed Fox and Rabbit’s Dorothy’s Sampler, but I’ve added it to my wish list. Thanks for an awesome WIP parade.
That angel on the keeper is so very pretty!! You have the best ideas! Ugh, I wish I had your "creative gene". Hooray for double-bubbles! 😆 Ooh, I need to put 64 on mine and "Still Alive Sixty-Five" 🤔 (sorry but it's all I could come up with on short notice -- any other suggestions from the peanut gallery would be greatly appreciated!) Since I will make a sheet (copying your original design) with more bubbles, I am going to add a sixth start! What!? You don't have 50 project bags! Oh, the shame... 😩 I have some previously kitted stash that hasn't been started yet and will use those on my chart - remember, I'm ooooollllllddd (loosey goosey!) ❤❤❤
I could not relate more than when you said to not let your older WIPs languish because your stitching style will change!! I’ve got several pieces that I feel the same way about, especially one that’s part of a series!
Anyways amazing wip parade❤❤❤
Thank you! Right? Series pieces are the best and the worst.
Your enthusiasm is so inspiring. So fun to see other folks projects!
Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video!
I am blown away with your WIPS. I enjoyed your story behind them.❤
Thanks! I am so glad you enjoyed it.

I agree! It's so much fun to stitch projects that have stories.
Love love love your WIP parade! I am a big old planner too! Sometimes I lack follow through. . .
💝I loved seeing all of your beautiful stitching, your project bags and hearing about your 2025 plans!
I am an Aida stitcher and when you get ready to “let go” of the Aida projects that you aren’t going to finish, I will be ready to give them a new home!!😊
Thank you for the WIP Parade - I enjoyed it and got a lot of stitching done while watching!
Happy stitching!

I hear ya, it’s hard to keep up with too many WIPS!
I love the new angle today. Beautiful things to work with for “all the things”!

Woohoo! Nifty Fifty club
I would call it done on the Plum Street Saltbox. It would give you a finish and let you put floss back in stash.

Kari, the ironing might smoosh the stitches but I’m pretty sure that keeping them all folded up isn’t good for them either. 😂
