It measures 12.3 inches tall, 7.8 inches wide and 12.3 inches deep. It weighs 18 pounds and is the smallest KitchenAid you can buy. This mini comes in 10 colors. My mixer color is orange sorbet, it’s a beautiful color but I would have called it some shade of yellow. Like most KitchenAids, there are 10 mixing speeds and tilt-head design. This mini is 250 watts. The stainless steel bowl is 3.5 quarts and has no handle. This is the power hub, unscrew, remove the plate and you can attach KitchenAid attachments like the spiralizer. I’ll do a separate review of this spiralizer soon so subscribe to stay tuned for that.
The mixer comes with an instruction manual, 6 wire whip, nylon coated flat beater and nylon coated dough hook.
We’ll test this mixer out by whipping cream, making cookie dough and pizza dough.
The bowl, coated dough hook and flat beater are top rack dishwasher safe. The 6 wire whip is handwash only. The mixer can be wiped down with a damp cloth and dried.
You’re buying this mixer only for the compact size, not for the power. If you don’t have much counter space and you want to leave the stand mixer out, then this is a decent option. If you have a large family, I wouldn’t recommend this mini. Go with one of the other larger models. The classic mixer is 275 watts and comes with a 4.5 quart bowl and costs at least $50 less than the mini, but it’s 25% bigger and weighs about 7 more pounds. I’ll put links to my reviews of other KitchenAid Stand Mixers in the description below so you can compare them. I’ll also put links to the Stand Mixers below, you can click on them to see the current price.
I hope this review was helpful. Subscribe and I’ll see you next time. Thanks for watching :)
I realize this is an old video. I just picked up the artesian mini and I love it. It is just my wife and I so this is perfect and it doesn't take up much countertop space. I guess now the bowl does have a handle
Thanks for sharing 😀
Here is a very interesting fact:
The artisan mini comes with a dc motor hence why it’s more expensive
Dc motors are in the larger more expensive mixers in the pro line and commercial series
I bought already one of this for my wife. Hope she will love it, perfect for small family.
I have this in red..I love it..perfect because I’m not a real big baker..it’s just me and my son I cook for...small enough...
Thank you for such an in-depth review. I ordered this mixer and wanted to get a look at the quality. I can say that with your fantastic review that I am even more eager to receive my KitchenAid! Thanks so much for an amazing video :)
👍😀
I have same mixer in black! Just love it. I dont know how I lived without it before☺️😅
The speed control on the KitchenAid Mini has indents (teeth) below the sliding lever. That is why you might be having difficulty adjusting the speed. If you slightly lift the lever (or just not push down on it) as you move it, it moves very easy. KitchenAid should have put the idents above the sliding lever, not below as most people naturally put weight down on the lever as they move it.
This mixer is so quiet because it uses a DC motor. You can tell which mixers in the line use a DC motor by the silver speed handle. The loud AC motor models use a black speed handle.
Is it any problem? I think about buy this Artisan mini or his biger brother. I can´t decided. We have small kitchen in flat and we cook everyday for 3 people. Thank you for every tips.
Is it mentioned in the manual that its dc motor
I read on the platform that from 6 quart bowl they have dc motors plx advise?
Thanks for the detailed and thorough review. I also noticed when looking at the machine in person the slider was rather clunky to operate.
Wow that is a quiet mixer, I think I'll buy one.
As an FYI, I just bought this model and the speed control knob needs to be raised slightly and then it slides easily. Great video!
+Ashley Rahim Thanks for the useful tip, Ashley 😀👍
She got a used item. Happens to me often, I return them until I get a new one.
Visionsppider A dosent she always get a problem mixer...lol
qAp market a Stainless flat beater for the Mini ...as well as no coating to flake off it has crossbars so improves mixing efficiency a lot!
I only wish you told everyone that this mixer with the all stainless steel knobs means it has a DC motor in it. That's why it's so quiet. Just like the pro line 7 qt. Mixer with all stainless steel knobs too. But other than that I really like it. Great job !
Thank you! One of the best reviews I’ve seen - clear evidence of results at each step. Thank you for your time doing this!
Glad you liked it 😁
In the instruction manual, it says that lifting the speed knob while you slide it will make it easier to move.
yes people complain that is not smooth but infact its very smooth when you lift the knob
Very thorough review, thank you. I'm really surprised about the marks on the finish when you took it from the box, and how you had to wash everything so many times. I was looking at KA mixers recently in the store and I noticed some of the finishes looked like they could have been better, especially where the enamel and metal band meet. Performance-wise, your Mini did a great job, and I am surprised at how quiet it is. Thank you again.
Thanks for sharing 😀👍
I’m thinking of buying that same color. It’s so cute. 😍😍😍. You did a great review for the mini. Thank you.
Thanks 😊
This is just a request(you don't have to follow up with the necessary if you don't want to).
Could you do a comparison video where you compare the Artisan Mini to the Artisan Design Series 5 qt Stand Mixer?
Great review, I just got a refurbished Artisan Mini and made cookies. It worked great and the cookies came out delicious. Your review helped me with knowing what speed I should cream the butter and sugar. Thanks!
👍
@nicole Dickerson how is your refurbished mini? Is it still going strong after a year? I want to get a refurbished one please let me know if it’s working out for you. And can u change the bowls too? Or can u only stick to the stainless steel bowls cause kitchen aid I seen had some cute ceramic bowls……. Please reply thank you so much!
@@empressalyssax3 hi! It’s still working just fine! It’s about to be 2 years in the summer time. I’ve only used the stainless steel bowl it comes with. I’m not sure if the mini has any bowl replacements. If they do, then they’ll probably be available on the Kitchenaid site. You cannot replace the bowl with a larger size bowl. The bowl has to be the size configured for the mini. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any questions!
@@nicoled985 thank you so much! I’m debating on getting the refurbished one as well today! I was just skeptical if they actually give it to u in good condition …. No scratches etc? I don’t wanna open a rusty hook in packaging lol…
@@empressalyssax3 mine was in great condition! I had no idea it was used honestly. Looked new and it actually still looks pretty new to me. I have a matte black mini
Good review - Will have to improve on quality before I invest that much into this mini stand mixer.
😀👍
My sister bought me one!!! I am currently waiting for it to arrive!! Thx for the informational review!!
Sometimes the whips can be faulty. I had a whip that was so out of whack I had to unscrew the screw so much that the mixer head would no longer lock. This happened on 4.5 quart Ultra Power model.
That must be one of the earlier models? Most newer versions come with a handle on the well on the bowl as well as the bowl scraping attachment which was a must when owning a artisan Mini. I found that the standard the standard flat beater just collected more ingredients than it mixed
Very helpful review. Always enjoy your reviews. Thank you.
+Teresa Keough Hi Teresa, Glad you enjoy the reviews:)
Most tilt head mixers will have head movement with heavy mixtures. Love the Sorbet color!
I need this color! How did I not know they had a mini?!? Lol
I have this mixer. I love it.
Thanks for sharing 😀
Rate please
This is an excellent review. I was a little surprised at how effective that two-sided flat beater really is. Everything was thoroughly combined, when I thought there would be some flour in the middle. Your pizza dough started to develop gluten fairly early in the process, which is good. Most of the time, flour has to be added until the hook cleans the bowl, which you have clearly shown in the demonstration. And that is exactly how you make dough in a KitchenAid. Yes, a spiral dough hook on their bowl-lift machine will perform considerably better than the C hook that comes with the Mini. And finally, that wire whisk works very well. If I had the space, I would have one of these KitchenAid minis. But instead, I have a Commercial 8 because I have to have one footprint for both small and large quantities. I hope KitchenAid continues to make the Mini for a good long time, as I am sure there is a reasonable demand for something small like this.
+cnnw3929 Thanks for sharing 😀
Great job on the video!! I like the color of the mixer!!
Thanks, Ryan 😀
You're welcome!!!
🤔 Now this Mini one is in my KitchenAid stand mixer options along with the other models.
I was thinking about the Classic Plus or maybe the Original Classic Series because the price of those model retails from either $199 or $220 when I go to the department stores and go look at the KitchenAids, but whenever I get my first apartment after graduating from college, if I want a stand mixer, then I might go for this one.
But the only thing is, the price of the Mini stand mixer because I saw that the Mini is retailed at about either $300 or $400.
I am definitely looking for a Refurbished KitchenAid model.
JR MuscBear I saw the refurbished Artisan Stand Mixer and if i remember, I believe I saw it priced at $215.
So I am considering the Artisan.
I have a classic plus and it really seems to be working hard to mix things. It's like the motor is going.
transmission might be the problem. Easy fix, just look online.
It seems like the wire beater hits the sides of the bowl, how to solve this problem?
I want to buy the mini and hopefully it will be enough for an occasional baker
Thank you. I got one from craigslist, but my comes with splash guard and bowl has a handle. It says on ir that max power 325. It seems like there are several models of minis.
Hi, I believe you have the Artisan which is 325 watts. There is only one mini model with 250 watts and a bowl with no handle 😀
I looked it up more and it turns out there is premium version of artisan 3.5 quart, which has a handle, so maybe that is my.
You are right. I think seller didn't know what they were selling. I searched model number and it is 5 quart Artisan. It does fit under the cabinets on the counter though. :)
Im curious as I just discovered they have the artisan mini in a designer series and wondered if you could try that out? I haven't been able to find any videos of it. Thank you for all your videos
....this is the artisan mini.
Hi great review I just got the mini model can you link those two recipes for cookie and pizza dough thanks!
Review the Bosch universal mixer pls
would this be best as an entry level kitchenaid?
Can we adjust the height of attachments like we can in Artisan model?
Yes
How to adjust for llifting mixer?
It is called the Mini and everyone talks about the power but no one talks about the dimensions of this mixer. I have a daughter who just bought a house with a small kitchen. I had given her my mixer and she says she doesn't have enough room for it so I decided to buy her a mini. So, what is the size compared to the regular mixer? Is it really a Mini, or does it just have less power? If it just has less power, why would I buy it over the regular mixer, pay more money and find that it is inferior?
Hi, I stated the measurements of the mixer in the beginning of the video as well as a comparison to a regular mixer - 25% smaller. The Mini is 250 watts and performed well on the cookie dough and whipped cream and a decent job on the pizza dough as shown in the video.
Olá td bem ..qual a diferença dessa c a q tem o parafuso na lateral?
I bought my mini from Crate and Barrel my bowl does have a handle what or is there any difference between the two?
Really Lovely One.
does it have matte color? I heard that ice-cream make attachment is not compatible with mini artisan?
I’m searching for this one in this color but can’t find it anywhere. Any help is appreciated!
Hi. Great review. Can i use this when I double a cake recipe? Tq
Yes it should work. However, if you regularly bake large amounts, I would suggest a bigger model. Please see my other KitchenAid reviews if you are interested :)
@@bestkitchenreviews Will do. Thank you so much for replying. I bought a Kuvings juicer last year after watching a few reviews including yours.
Great review - I was curious about this smaller mixer. Any chance you could review the Bosch Compact?
Thanks, Patti! I will try to review the Bosch 😀
Where Is She Buying These From?
Hi Quinn, I've bought the mixers online from Amazon and physical stores :)
Has anyone tried whipping a single egg white to stiff peaks? I hear a lot about how much more it can do but not how much less it can do.
Alan Nguyen
Yes, I saw this comment and tested for myself and it does a great job of whipping a single eggs to stiff peaks!! I highly recommend this mixer
@@jackm1399 time to make macarons! *-*
@@jackm1399 I've been searching for this answer for half a year. I'm so glad you did this. Can't thank you enough!
Alan Nguyen
Your very welcome, Macarons sound Yumm!! I might attempt this as well
Are you sure? Can you adjust the height of attachments like in Artisan model?
Hi, this KitchenAid Artisan mini can afford a recipe for 24 cupcakes?
Nice review, mine was so clean, bought mine from Costco UK, just a basic model does not even have Artisan or classic on it (do you know why?). It is a 5KSM95PSBSZ
Used it to make bread.
Mimi'sFashionLounge the ones at Costco are special made for Costco and don't have the same markings etc but they are comparable
@@andreaschiavino5444 Wow how did you know that. Called Kitchenaid UK, they informed me it was a classic model asked why it did not have classic on it, the operater said he did not know. He stated it was made on the 30 week of 2019.
I saw a discussion about it on another KitchenAid review. Someone asked a similar question on that video and the person doing the video provided the response. I think it was the Amy Learns to Cook channel. She was able to tell the person which model in Kitchen Aid terms they had. Hope that helps
@@andreaschiavino5444 Thanks Andrea . I phoned Kitchen aid UK yesterday. They confirmed that my model was a classic but did not know why it did not have classic on it. It was made on the 30th week in 2019. Just uploaded a video on it if you are interested in watching my chaotic unboxing😅
Is this mixer mixer working on 240 voltage? I am asking because i know the Americans have different power supply on less voltage.
Hi Leo, this is 110v
Kitchenaid makes a this mixer in a 240 volt version for sale in countries that have 240 volt household service.
Good video
Thanks
Will the attachments that I have purchased over the years for the regular size stand mixer fit this smaller model? Thank you.
Yes 😀
The ice cream maker won’t fit. Its bowl is too tall, so it can’t be used.
wow .Thx u
good job...
+Emkay 4Q2 Glad you liked the review. Please subscribe if you haven’t already 😀
Good
Kitchen Aides customer ?service is very lacking though. My mini would not turn on when plugged in as a new mixer and they did not care, or replace it. I had to go through warranty hassles.
The best mixer is the Mini because you don't even have to do anything!
navy ships have large versions of this
crazy ads
very nice video, but your voice sounds like echoed a little bit.
Her voice pitch rising at the end of every sentence is really annoying
Yeah, the scraping down and the ball in the center that never mixes... doesn't look good
Exactly.
What do you mean? It is not good to buy it?
looks like the thing is hardly bigger than my coffee mug.
Its a 3.3 litre bowl. I guess you have quite a caffeine addiction!
