Professor Longhair, the unkown genuis of American music, you will be hard pressed to find a finer pianist as "FESS" stands beside Art Tatum, James Booker, Horace Tapscott and Errol Garner, as the top piano men in history! Fess continued and designed a New Orleans based musical style that inspired musicians the world over. I pray that some day, he recieves proper recognition for his contributions to American music; he truly is one of the architects of Rock & Roll & Funk! Long live Professor Longhair!
Eu também quero saber quem são os sete idiotas que não que não gostaram do vídeo .... Procura saber, e depois vocě me fala quem são eles; porque eu quero quebrar a cara deles 👊👊👊👊
Can anyone name the Meters musicians who are backing up Fess in this clip? The clip claims to be from 1974, so I would guess they are Art Neville, keys; Leo Nocentelli, guitar; George Porter Jr., bass; and Zigaboo Modeliste, drums. But also there's a guy on congas so I don't know who that might be. What do you think? Thank you.
@@stephenf.6122 I agree. (Did a bit of research of my own and came to same conclusion.) Thanks! What a hot band the Meters were! I'm especially taken with Nocentelli's solo on this clip, his licks are piano-like, complementary to Fess' style.
@@jeffhawley3005 I agree! Loved all the members of the Meters, whoever they were playing with. Leo played with Etta James for awhile, which was awesome! I got to see Uganda with Fess a number of times in New Orleans. George played with Bill Kreutzmann’s band The Seven Walkers. Zigaboo had a regular Friday night gig at Pier 23 in San Francisco, which was always fun. Art of course was Papa Funk, spiritual leader of the Neville Brothers. What a legacy!
@@stephenf.6122 You're lucky to have them in person! Wish I could have shared that privilege. I'm glad we have a wealth of audio and video like this one to enjoy now and for generations to come.
Wondering about that last line in the verse: " Pin up the baby's diaper; pin up the baby's diaper; pin it up...[sounds like it could be "before he soaks the floor" or something?] " Anybody?

Long live Professor Longhair!
Saw him a couple times in Chicago
He ain’t unknown in NOLA. He’s an icon.
Ain't nobody like the Professor! Coolest cat ever...
"just like a one-eyed cat peepin in the seafood store" all time great line right there
I always thought it was "sleeping"! Wish I had a nickel for every time I was wrong!
Let the good times roll, Fess!
Who are the 7 schmucks who thumbs downed this musical genius? The Meters are smoking hot too.
A tip: you can watch movies on Kaldrostream. Me and my gf have been using them for watching lots of of movies during the lockdown.

Bob R - who are you to have all these great vids? What did you do? And thank you.🥰
Some of the PBS "Soundstage" series shows from the 1970's were released on VHS in the 1980's. These are copied from a tape I bought back then.
The Pros Pro
Pure NOLA funk.

Pretty sure it’s Alfred “Uganda” Roberts, who played with Fess from 1972 until Fess passed in 1980.

" Before that child gets cold". She's pinning on a clean, fresh diaper.
