It seems to be similar to the "Pet Auction" that Califur used to have, and I understand some other fur cons did too (I think Confurence had one), before the media found out, followed by the local police. I can see how something like that could lead to some serious misunderstandings....Anyway, I digress. What's the premise of this event? It looks like fun.
The premise is you bid to win one hour of dance time with a fursuiter at a specified dance and nothing more. At a con where fursuiters are so busy, to get an hour of focused/uninterrupted time with them by helping raising money for charity with your bids is a pretty great trade off. Photos are taken by staff photographers and tweeted to the events account on Twitter. Also, participation badges are given out. So, in short, it's to raise money for charity and give someone a chance to meet a fursuiters they admire without interruption at the dance.
