The weird negative scrap issue is actually a really funny outcome of having such a big number. Essentially in computers, integers represent both positive and negative, but are limited on each end. You obtained so much scrap that you went above the positive limit and overflowed into the negative numbers!

Also, I doubt they expected anyone to accumulate such a massive amount of lives. I wonder what the limitation was on Mario. On rust it looks like the limit was 4billion? So I'm assuming it's a 32 bit integer issue.
The negative number thing is called an overflow. In code, the number used to store how many items in a stack can be either signed or unsigned. In the case of a signed number, the highest bit in the number is reserved for indicating if the number is positive (0) or negative (1). When it tries to double the number, it rolls over to the next highest bit, but as we know, that last bit is used to indicate negative. :)
I don't think it's a case of an overflow. If it was, there would be no way to go over the positive limit like we saw in the video. The value would stick between the lowest negative value and highest positive value. It's also a bit odd of a number to decide to overflow as it's only half of the size of a 32-bit signed integer, so the overflow should have only occurred the next time they doubled it.
That wasn't an overflow though. After he dropped it a few times the amount appeared again and was even higher than before it bugged out. No idea what it could've been.

yep and both times the people who exploited the bug got perm banned i know this because i was 1 of the few ppl that know about the 0000 bug and i still dont have that account back
duping is not as fast as this so it is not as big and you dont care that you dont have code when you can buy infinite amount of explosive and go trough wall

I got up to 1.6 million scrap and gave away 800k for like 5 hours straight back and fourth from our base and outpost.. Me and my friends got banned but we have video footage and screenshots of it and it was absolutely beautiful
Nice glitch, bro its too bad they patched it so quickly. I remember on stevious servers there was a bug where you could recycle christmas lights for like 10x their cost to make so you had infinite metal frags. That glitch when on for weeks, everyone and their mom had a full metal base lol

This would count as a Exploit. So hopefully you do not actually get BANNED from Rust for using a EXPLOIT. it is one thing to just find the glitch and then Report it and that is only time you used it. It is another thing to GAIN FROM the Exploit. Which could get you BANNED
Do you really think that they would ban one of the most famous rust content creators from their game? That would only hurt them, plus nobody got banned for the gunpowder duplication glitch and nobody got banned for the exploits on console. While they have the option of banning you they won’t.
You’re taking advantage of a problem in their code, and that’s not your fault that it exists. He’s also making it enjoyable for the community and making content out of it. It’s not like he’s recording himself hacking. It’s a problem that they created, not him. The fact of the matter is it’s not like he raided everyone on the server and made the game unplayable, he created a spectacle for the community to come see.
