They were having to turn around, and were not happy. Only those who had a CB radio knew what and why, and you could see them using a parking lot to abort early. The line was miles wrong! 😊

Thought we were 100% convinced we were buying the KZ240rkd. It’s an absolutely beautiful rig that has everything we want. However the length shown is not accurate. After driving 700 miles to check it out we found out it’s actually 34’ long. Such a bummer. Sadly we’re now back to considering the 22mle. Sure wish they’d put a fireplace in the hutch tho.
Alternative title: 5th wheels that could fit in your suburban home driveway. I love that you and Bish's support the RV buyer even if you don't carry them. This is how you earn people's business. Thanks Josh!
We have a Cherokee Arctic 23mle and we love the layout. We used to have a 43’ toy hauler. It was quite a downsize. We enjoy that it travels well in that slide doesn’t have to extend to access pantry, fridge, and bathroom! Being under 30’ we can go many more places!
I don't know why manufacturers aren't making more of these. People are having less kids and less families, they're working remote more and more, housing is less and less affordable, and some other stuff I can't think of right now. Plus no one wants to tow a monster RV that can't get into certain national parks. Seems like a slam dunk to me.
Josh, just wanted to thank you for this GREAT video. This is a video that I have been looking for for a very long time. We are interested in a 5th wheel, no more than 30' with a W/D prep and you NAILED it. I never realized that so many 5th wheels out there met my criteria. I'm bookmarking this video for future reference. You are the bomb. Thanks again for a job well done.

Wow, Josh. I like a lot of these trailers. The ones I'd be most interested in have the ability to tandem pull. There are a number of motorcycle trailer companies that make rigid tandem pulls that have 4 wheels the all swivel independently to as to not interfere with the ability to back up the trailer. #NerdHerd
Hi, Josh! You are one funny nerd, "Squirrel". In 2019 we downsized from our Allegro to a Shasta (Forest River) Phoenix 25MK 5er. At just over 29', we can pretty much get in any state or federal campsites. It did take some getting used to after selling our motor home but we love it. There are only a couple of bad things about it. One is the short wheel distance from the trailer to the truck. Chucking and sway are a bit more then on a longer rig. The other is backing up. For your viewers that are truckers, it's comparable to backing up a 48' trailer with the tandems slide all the back to a little 20' pup. The little trailer tends to get away from you. And, yes, your more observant viewers will know I'm dating myself with the 48' example. I retired from truckin' before the 53 footers came out. Love your videos. You and Matt have great reviews showing the good and the bad. Thanks!
Yes Josh,I did like this video, BUT,I wondered what model today would be the equivalent to the Jaco Eagle 27.5 RLTS? IT was because of one of your older vids that I (thanks to YOU) purchased this model a week ago, instead of the Delta. This rig is R O C K SOLID, BUT I would like to look at the 2024 version if there is one . Again GREAT RUN DOWN!!!
I am listening to see if there is an under 30' with no slide. We traveled in a Viking 17bh for 5 months last year. It worked fine. When this 2015 trailer bites the dust, I would at least look at what was available in 5th wheels, with a rear view, with no slides.
A Ranger, if I’m understanding you correctly can tow 7,500 pounds. The bed weight/tongue weight will likely kill it. Not laughing. Most of these are at lease ¾ ton range.
We contacted Escape (filled out the form online) and they connected us to one near us (30 min away) so we could see it “in the flesh.” So glad we did. We are sold on the 5.0 TA as the next camper for us. We even looked t a 10 year old Escape 21C. It was amazing how much it was in great shape after 10 years. So “built to last” and the ability to get into small camping spots is our goal. Oh and to tow it over mountains with our half ton truck. Alliance is the only one I would even consider if we had a bigger truck and didn’t care about slides and small camping spots.
Impression 235 RW is still like a lot of the other Forest River Products with the TV being located to the left of the viewer, drives me nuts. Should have an option for a King bed.
Thank you 💙💛 for these Josh! I’m curious if there is such thing as a slightly off pavement 5th wheel? Hint hint Ember! 🥰 I keep thinking lighter, smaller and some of these just work! Edit: One more weird question, being someone who likes to spend months in these… are there any short 5w’s with a raised floor in the back so you ave more underfloor storage?
@@JoshtheRVNerd - No one sane is going to take a $90k truck and expensive RV into the boonies. I love off road camping, but even I know getting stuck can mean a $4k tow expense. I just want to find a few dirt mild roads and get away from people.
I enjoyed this video, love the list idea. Although your overlords might not like it, how about a list of small independent RV manufacturers that make tow-behind bunkhouse trailers?
I ended up going with a Rockwood 2622RK which is a little over 30 feet and 10 k pounds as it was the smallest i could fit under my 2023 RAM 3500 4x4 truck. Anything else was too low on bed to trailer clearance.
Another great video. I have the AF 27-5. Yes it is shades of brown inside, but that can be changed. Whereas the 'pretty' insides rigs, the build quality cannot be changed. I def know I am towing this short 5er. It is B-I-L-T! as you said on the Fox Mt. lol Thanks again.
This is a lot of good information. Thanks Nerd. The format is perfect, one can jump around. Do they make 27 - 30 foot living space with an eight foot garage? Making it a 35 to 38 foot 5th wheel. How about a video on what does not come with the RV but you need it. Example, the black tank hose! Or maybe a video on all the accessories you can buy for RV. Prioritize them. I've been talking with friends who are thinking of doing what i plan to do when I retire. Buy a RV and go to all the places i could not get an 18 wheeler into. Oh, btw they now watch your videos too. We compare notes. I do not always comment but love your videos.
Josh: I really appreciate the chapter list with this video! You did miss one fifth wheel I like. I am a minimalist and appreciate rigs that maintain their value! Talk about light weight and fiberglass manufacturing. You won't find a smaller 5th wheel than the Scamp 19 foot fifth wheel! They are out of Minnesota and don't use dealers, so they are hard to find and see. However you could have added a floor plan and mentioned them on your video. Love your reviews, you are a one of a kind RV expert!
Thank you for putting this compilation together. I haven't decided whether to make do with my Frontier with limited acceptable choices, or get a 3/4 ton and get what I want. The length has to be limited to around 30' due to where I'll have to park it at home.
Thank you so much Josh!!! This was great 👍 I love to see all the possibilities out there. I love the Cougar just like you and the Reflection 100 looks good too!
Thank you for this video My husband and I were talking about getting a 5th wheel but I don't want to go big. All of these were the perfect length and weight. I liked some floor plans better than others but it gives us a good starting point.
Great video!! Comprehensive and fun to watch the parts I’m interested in and easy to move to the next chapter for those I don’t. Appreciate the info and your hard work getting this together!
Thank you for this video, I'm looking at half ton towable 5th wheels right now. Have you or could you please review the Alliance All Access 29RL? It's just over 30' but has dual opposing slides and looks interesting on paper.
I may have missed it, but wondered if any of those alternate models you provided links for actually had an east/west bed & full closet. If older 5th wheels could do this for under 30'ft, there's no reason why manufacturers can't do it now, especially if they don't worry about weight so much. I prefer a heavier model when dealing with wind, myself.
Under 30 5th wheels are cool but I have a camper shell that I need on a f350 long bed. Have you seen or know of another bumper pull comparable to the Grand Design Imagine 22xls rbe? If so and you or anyone else has one let me know please. Otherwise there is a new one here in Atascadero,Ca. Tanks!
Honestly, I like them all, each has great features and some not so great. We do like shorter RV's and if we were 5th wheel people we would hard pressed to pick. Would really need to see them in person.
The cougar is a couples camper, why the dinette? Even at home we eat on the couch watching a show. Put in a stool/bar or storage or expand the outside kitchen to have a sink..
Bish's needs to seriously consider carrying Northwood brands at the Texas dealership, and others they obtain on the East side of the country. The Northwood dealers in Texas, Florida and Missouri only seem to carry the truck campers. There's one in NC that carries Fox and Nash, but just a few. I realize the cost to transport them all the way across the country would be high, but their quality is second to none. Same potential for Outdoors RV, Texas is as far south and East as they go, with the exception of one in PA.
Thanks for all this information. Not all of us want or need a giant fifth wheel but prefer the towability and comfort of one. Respectfully though, you forgot a Canadian built small fifth wheel by Escape. Escape 5.0. might just be my retirement purchase.

@@JoshtheRVNerd - No one sane is going to take a $90k truck and expensive RV into the boonies. I love off road camping, but even I know getting stuck can mean a $4k tow expense. I just want to find a few dirt mild roads and get away from people.
@@JoshtheRVNerd - I just want a short 5W with LOTS OF STORAGE.
#nerdheard thanks for making these videos Josh.
My pleasure!
I enjoyed this video, love the list idea. Although your overlords might not like it, how about a list of small independent RV manufacturers that make tow-behind bunkhouse trailers?
You have to check out the KZ 240rkd half ton 5th wheel. New Floorplan. IMO, best couples Floorplan.
#nerdherd.. made it to the end. Thanks for the list.
Ty
Every? Did the Alliance Avenue 23ML not make the every list because it’s a 2025 model?
I ended up going with a Rockwood 2622RK which is a little over 30 feet and 10 k pounds as it was the smallest i could fit under my 2023 RAM 3500 4x4 truck. Anything else was too low on bed to trailer clearance.
Reflection 150, that fixed table in the half dinette is kinda dumb. Maybe a bench against the north/south wall, but free table and chairs.
This video was so helpful!!! Thanks for taking the time to do this. We appreciate how you list pros and cons for sure!
What about the fiberglass ones? Escape 5.0, Scamp 19, others?
Another great video. I have the AF 27-5. Yes it is shades of brown inside, but that can be changed. Whereas the 'pretty' insides rigs, the build quality cannot be changed. I def know I am towing this short 5er. It is B-I-L-T! as you said on the Fox Mt. lol Thanks again.
Hard to beat their build
For your hauler question I don’t have models in mind off hand. Very few make something that size anymore
@JoshtheRVNerd thank you for replying. What is the average length of a toy hauler that Bish's sells either 5th wheel or camper?
Under 30 ft which means 29 ft 11 in 63\64 😂 just joking Josh Don't get mad at me Happy Father's Day
No you’re spot on but you have to draw a line somewhere
#nerd herd. Made it all the way to the end!!
Well Ty!
I wish they would make a luxury 5th wheel that was all season (gen and solar.) and a patio
#nerdherd😂
Reflection 100, I'd rather see a free table and chairs without that hip bumper through the entry door. Would open the Floorplan even more.
👍🏻
Josh: I really appreciate the chapter list with this video! You did miss one fifth wheel I like. I am a minimalist and appreciate rigs that maintain their value! Talk about light weight and fiberglass manufacturing. You won't find a smaller 5th wheel than the Scamp 19 foot fifth wheel! They are out of Minnesota and don't use dealers, so they are hard to find and see. However you could have added a floor plan and mentioned them on your video.
Love your reviews, you are a one of a kind RV expert!
Ah Ty for the catch!

Thank you for putting this compilation together. I haven't decided whether to make do with my Frontier with limited acceptable choices, or get a 3/4 ton and get what I want. The length has to be limited to around 30' due to where I'll have to park it at home.
Curious to see what you do
Thank you so much Josh!!! This was great 👍 I love to see all the possibilities out there.
I love the Cougar just like you and the Reflection 100 looks good too!
Glad you liked it!
I have Two that stand out too me. The Roamer lite 245RLS and the Impression 235RW. The Bar in the impression is fantastic! Thank you Josh!
My pleasure!
Thank you for this video
My husband and I were talking about getting a 5th wheel but I don't want to go big. All of these were the perfect length and weight. I liked some floor plans better than others but it gives us a good starting point.
Awesome! Glad it helps
Great video!! Comprehensive and fun to watch the parts I’m interested in and easy to move to the next chapter for those I don’t. Appreciate the info and your hard work getting this together!
Glad it was helpful!
Would love a similar video for shorter toy hauler fifth wheels
Great list Josh 😃

Ty!

Thank you for this video, I'm looking at half ton towable 5th wheels right now. Have you or could you please review the Alliance All Access 29RL? It's just over 30' but has dual opposing slides and looks interesting on paper.
It’s on my hit list
I may have missed it, but wondered if any of those alternate models you provided links for actually had an east/west bed & full closet.
If older 5th wheels could do this for under 30'ft, there's no reason why manufacturers can't do it now, especially if they don't worry about weight so much. I prefer a heavier model when dealing with wind, myself.
Rockwood 2442bs.. I think it’s called 281rk now
#nerdherd - "all the way" 🙂
😃
Nerd herd?😅
👍🏻
You have listed the DURANGO HALF-TON 256RKT, but it’s longer than 30 feet at 33 feet, 3 inches.
So it is.. TY
I wonder which one I MEANT to include...
Tanks!
Yes actually m.ua-cam.com/video/dj91Y0B3CGk/v-deo.html
i really like this video
Ty!
Honestly, I like them all, each has great features and some not so great. We do like shorter RV's and if we were 5th wheel people we would hard pressed to pick. Would really need to see them in person.
Yeah in person is best
How many slides does a 30 ft or less have.
Varies. 😊
Cougar 260MLE 30ft 11in w/ W.D. hookups and sweet full paint options
I looooooove that model. Somehow it never got "noticed" like I think it should
Arctic fox is one of the best campers made out there in fifth wheel and In truck camper Models
Facts
Missed the StarCraft which have two 234RLS & 244RLS. Which are perhaps shortest and lightest.
Thought I had those listed somewhere along the line
Good catch
Wildwood Heritage Glen 286RL? I saw one in the background of one of your recent videos.
Bigger than 30ft total. It’s 33 and change
The cougar is a couples camper, why the dinette? Even at home we eat on the couch watching a show. Put in a stool/bar or storage or expand the outside kitchen to have a sink..
Some people still like dinettes but at my house we are like you
Which one have plumbing for a combo W/D?
Nerd herd!
😊
Honestly how much time do you really spend in your camper when your camping 🤷♂
we try to limit time inside to a brief mid-day siesta to take a break from the heat
Otherwise we're outside
Is there any without slides?
Not really
Love it. I've been narrowing it down under 10000, under 30.😍😎
This will help you zero in on some floor plan types!
But. Dems (uniparty) and interest rates
Blah. Did my best to try to catch them all - like pokemon lol. Dont see those down here much
@@JoshtheRVNerd fai. Don't see them much up here either!
Re Northwood, I have a 2004 24-5N, second owner. You didn't exaggerate the build quality or weight. Can't imagine any better build quality
What do you think about the Durango 1/2 ton 5th wheels?
I've never actually had the pleasure of going thru them in person. As a result I don't feel qualified to even have an opinion on them if that's fair
