Just came back from visiting Crestone, it was an amazing place! The silence is real, thoughts weren't racing, a still peaceful energy, and delightful environment.
Only in quiet repose do we experience God's presence in everything. Silencing the mind is a discipline but is open and accessible to anyone who dedicates themselves to it. Through an intentional and dedicated practice of meditation we have the opportunity to be one with the creative forces of the universe and with everyone and everything. Doing so is our salvation.
After living along Colorado Ave in an old shack in Old Colorado City and years of resultant ear problems now, that sounds like the ultimate fantasy Heaven Pure Land Shambhala; hope to see y'all soon.
There is something so powerful about that space... I am interested in learning more about the retreat center! I'd love to start volunteering my time there!
Profound silence IS the object of, and experience of, Transcendental Meditation. Simple, daily, wherever you are - city or country, inside or outside. Then the silence becomes established, in higher states of consciousness. All is within. Nature is wonderful, beautiful, enjoyable. But silence is found in pure consciousness, within.

'If you can't find inner silence in a boiler room, you won't find it anywhere.' Anon.
Warm Springs Reservation in Oregon is the most silent place I have ever experienced. Next is Crestone. What a beautiful place inside and out.
