The fact that Kuma learned every single one of them and decided himself where they should go based on their skills/capabilities really shows that Kuma really knows a lot about Straw Hat.

@@tuanrumah4766 He does laugh and smile like usual a couple of times, it's more like the real turning point was him being defeated by Mihawk and since then he progressively becomes more and more stoic, which gives the feeling that by now he never laughs anymore.
Fun fac tho: Most times he has laughed wholeheartedly since then Luffy was the only crewmate around, which heavily implies his stoic persona is more of a role he assumed to fulfill his position in the crew, and also serves to show how comfortable he is with Luffy.

I definitely crying every time! Even when I know Kuma was saving them! 😭😢
Just imagine the emotional torture Luffy must be going through, just watching his nakamas disappear one by one and he can't even do anything about it. Kuma made sure that he saw everything. He just showed Luffy that he still has a long way to go in terms of power and strength, that he's nowhere near ready for the New World, and that there are plenty of enemies he can't defeat as he is now, therefore, his lack of strength hinders him from protecting his dear friends.
I swear, this episode is one of Mayumi Tanaka-san's best performance in the entire series. 👏🏻 Voice acting on point!
Literally me bawling my eyes out again! This episode when I first saw it hurt so much. I felt so sad for Luffy. When Kuma sent Zoro it was shocking. The ones that hurt the most that he sent were Chopper and Robin. Omg… my heart just broke the first time I watched it. Oh and when he was just banging his head on the ground in despair. Omg I can’t😭
Same. It was depicted so we'll all his frustration, by the way he's banging his head and wriggling on the ground, kicking his legs all.. feels so real.. really get to your heart with it..
And believe it or not, this heartbreaking moment is the mere _prelude_ to what's about to come.....
This is that episode that even if you're watching it at three in the morning already sleepy, you tell yourself, I have to watch the next one now.

first cold straw hats walk I'll always like every pre grand line a bit more really liked how Luffy showed how much he trusted Nami by giving her the straw hat it's the only person he did that with
This episode is so nostalgic to me because this was the episode where I finally caught up with the One Piece anime and goddamn what an episode to be caught up with lol.
I was watching One Piece since like 2002 but in our country, the anime only goes to Skypea Arc only. I always thought at that time that the anime is up to Skypea only but it wasn't until I started watching anime AMV's in UA-cam in late 2007 when I stumble upon Luffy using Gear 2nd vs Blueno. I was one of those kids who rents a PC in a comshop to watch anime AMV on repeat in UA-cam with videos like Naruto vs Sasuke, Ash vs Gary, Luffy vs Lucci etc. It was the GOLDEN AGE OF ANIME AMV lol.
Watching those AMV made me want to catch up to all the anime that I've been watching to in our local tv BUT due to the internet being so slow at that time it took me YEARS to catch up haha. I remmeber the next episode after OP 405 was a filler too so I was like "Is this really the end?", "Will the story shift focus on another crew" etc etc. haha what a time. It was just weeks after when I decided to READ the MANGA and caught up just literally at the end of an arc and at the start of what I consider the greatest One Piece arc of all time haha. Talk about TIMING! Haha
Kuma's backstory is gonna be one of the saddest. I know it
Man talk about an insane episode. I remember being in total shock when I first saw this episode. That Rayleigh kick stopping Kizaru attack was epic. Great voice acting on the one who does Luffy voice like you can truly hear their pain when Luffy is panic and scared. But man to see Luffy pleading and begging for to not have his crew be taking from him was difficult to watch. Especially seeing his greatest fear came true. As well failing to do the one job that he has been good at. Which is protecting his crew. And now he's back to being alone like the very beginning of the show.
This episode just showed the Strawhats has gotten stronger but it wasn't enough. In which showed they wasn't ready for the "New World". And you may ask yourself how worst can it get from this point moving forward? You have no idea. But anyway great reaction\commentary you two and I hope the rest of your day is enjoyable. Throughout the series, the Straw Hats faced foes after foes. In the beginning, they blew their enemies away easily, but as they progressed, their victories became narrower and narrower. Their enemies were stronger but they weren’t much stronger. Their last victory was practically luck. And now they faced their first complete defeat.
Luffy just got a nasty reality check. Thankfully it didn’t happened at the hands of the Navy directly or it would all be over.
Cp9 was the strongest ever, moreso than kuma supposedly and got out fine. I guess oda just decided what to do.

in the manga at the end when the narrator was talking it said 'eradicated' instead of "suffered a complete collapse" but in the anime they took a month break after this episode

I remember I watched first 500 episodes in Dub and in that they haven't revealed that Kuma was sending them flying as sentomaru said. I legit thought he erased them or killed them(although knowing ain't no way they are dying) and didn't saw it as saving

You want to know something funny? Right after this episode, the Manga and the Anime went into a summer pause for around 3 months. Some people even thought the series ended here lmao
this chapter was turning point to all SHP crews. After this chapter, they will learn that pirate lifes is not all happy and adventurous. they wil grows.
When this episode originally came out, there was a 2 weeks of side content for One Piece coming out, so for 3 weeks we had to wait to see what in the hell just happened and get a new episode

Even tho I knew what was happening, my heart couldn't take seeing Luffy like that.
I found myself wondering about Kuma's motives here, that is, once I recovered emotionally from this absolute beatdown of an episode. He could literally repel himself to anywhere he wanted to for the purposes of escaping the ramifications of these actions. The fact that he does not ties into the reason why he is a warlord in the first place, I think. That and the fact that he allowed this experimentation on his body by a government affiliated scientist. I think he's been protecting someone or something for quite a long time. I think his backstory may be extremely revelatory, and potentially as tragic as any we've seen to date.
