  • Being born into a Muslim family is something that even a lot of Muslims see as a default and a lot of times take for granted as well. But what is the journey of someone who converts to the Faith?
    Imam Tom Facchine shares his incredible journey of how a young man from an Italian American family, from a small town in New Jersey converted to Islam, and how he ended up becoming the Imam (religious leader) of The Muslim Community Association of Mohawk Valley, New York!
    Note: Strong political and religious opinions will be expressed by my guest. Viewer discretion is advised

    Hello. I'm not quite sure how I found your channel but this podcast was interesting. I'm a Christian believer ( and I hope that's okay ) but I usually only listen to one Islamic-related channel called BLOGGING THEOLOGY.
    I liked the honesty by this Iman ( Tom Facchine ). By the way, although I stand on the foundational core of Christianity, I'm somewhat open-minded and I also prefer to respect people of other religions ( and no religion ! ). I learn slowly about Islam but I was surprised by the discipline of this Iman to learn Islam.
    Anyhow.... I believe God is the Creator of all people so I try to understand the worldviews/beliefs of others. It seems like the more I learn, the less I know. But God is all-knowing and He understands us. Right?
    Peace of God to you.... from Florida

      So glad you found the podcast and I hope you liked the episode!
      Imam Tom truly does have an interesting fire and honesty to him.
      My podcast is for all people, really, and is just a deep dive into perspectives, some of which are Muslim perspectives.

      @@imamuslimpodcast Thanks and yes I have already subscribed. Regarding Tom, I think the channel of Blogging Theology will have him as a guest soon. Have you listened to Blogging Theology? Sometimes the scholars on it are too academically-minded for me and I get confused.
      So you were born Muslim? I was raised in the Catholic religion. Peace of God to you

      @@johnbrzykcy3076 Tom has interesting and beneficial short talks (a couple of minutes long), I think you should listen to them. It's okay to be a good/moral Christian, we Muslims believe that we're more Christian than Christians because we follow the true teachings of Jesus, a mighty messenger of All mighty God. Nothing is God but God.

Thank you Shehla for this program. Also, if Tom or his friends read this would like to find out if he takes pilgrims from America to Hajj because I am interested in going with him.

    The warning "Strong political and religious opinions will be expressed by my guest. Viewer discretion is advised" appeared both on the video and in the notes below it. I watched the whole video but didn't hear any "Strong political and religious opinions" at all. I must have missed them somehow. I'm intrigued to know what they were, especially after the warning. Anyone know whereabouts in the video they appeared?

    • @imamuslimpodcast
      @imamuslimpodcast  Рік тому +1

      Majority of my listeners are non-Muslim and Imam Tom had expressed criticism regarding Christianity and Israel. It was just a warning for those who would take offense to either.

    • @sumardon
      @sumardon Рік тому +1

      @@imamuslimpodcast I had another listen with the aim of picking up political and religious views expressed by Tom that were strong enough to warn people about. There are examples in public media of Christians expressing offensive opinions about Islam and Tom gave examples he had come across as a non-Muslim, like the teacher, most of whose students were Muslims, using text where a character urinated on a copy of the Qur'an and then when questioned about it asking whether a fatwa should be issued calling for the death of the character. Then there was the pastor with a master's degree in theology telling the congregation that it was okay for Israel to bomb Muslims, Lebanon in this case, because Jews and Christians believe in the same God but Muslims don't. There are records in public media of instances where Israelis have openly called for genocide against Palestinians calling them snakes. So I was expecting strong anti Christian and anti Israeli views at that level being expressed by Tom, but I didn't find any.

    I wanted a different tone to the interview.. maybe you are gearing towards a non Muslim audience. He is an imam( you kept calling him Tom as if he is your student or something; etc...)and also you didnt have to correct him so often. You could have steered the interview differently.. You can be a little more respectful is what I am trying to say. Have you watched the Deen Show. Have you seen how Eddie speaks to his guests. Eddie doesnt interrupt the way you did... ..

      @@imamuslimpodcast Why would you delete the comments of criticism, if I may ask? As a young person with many years in front of you God willing you shall grow and grow personally and spiritually, plus you are a public person whose face and voice hear thousands of humans. As such, it is crucial that you hear the feedback when your time allows you to do that. Do as you deem necessary, of course, but there is stuff in your way of conducting interviews that can be modified and improved for your sake and the sake of listeners. In an event of quran desecration, to burn it or whatever, and then asking why mad.
    Or disrespecting the prophet PBUH.
    It's like if they desecrate your mom's picture, or some kind of memorabilia of her. That's not exactly your mother, so why mad? Well that is some kind of representation of her, so by desecrating it you kind of disrespecting her. So I would say it is called for to be disapprove of the action.
