'There's gotta be a hundred reasons why I don't blow you away. Right now I can't think of one.' Man, this movie rocked da' house. Always loved watching this!
I like that Freightliner cabover semi the villain was driving. Nowadays you don't see as many cabover semis on the roads here in the USA as you use to back in those days.
This scene was Filmed on highway 680 in San Jose. The film company paid my friends and me $450 per night to hang out with our cars in a Kmart parking lot for backups. Also Free donuts and coffee. Most of our cars and trucks were never used in the movie. There were hundreds of people on the overpasses at Alum Rock, Mckee Rd. Mayburry and Berryessa watching the filming all night for 3 nights. The crash scene with the car carrier was done in one take.
Yes! This bothered me too, they made a good effort using the red Coplite that LAPD used at the time, but no blue or amber PAR 46’s on the rear shelf (yes, I am classic CA police car enthusiast).
Fun fact: thIs was filmed on I-680 in east side san jose (ESSJ). The freeway off ramp signs are visible in this scene. Alum Rock Avenue is the same road signed into Santa Clara St once in the downtown region. Past the shark tank the same road gets resigned as The Alameda splits off the main road and resigned as CA state route 82 which is El Camino Real at Santa Clara University and is ECR all the way throughout Santa Clara co and most of San Mateo County until Daly city. From there its mission st which keeps running well into SF via the mission district.
at 3:14-3:23 in 9 seconds where the red empty car pulls along to make the truck have an accident where the car with the caravan trapped in the accident with the more chaos going on where the taxi jumps over to crash where the lorry stops at the accident
@GoblinGirl As an ardent Eastwood fan, I would agree that The Rookie isn't one of his best films, but not bad, either. It seems like it was too long and complicated, for some reason. And Charlie Sheen's poor acting didn't help.
The entrance Might have be filmed on the California state route 110 the state route sign at 0:41 says that below Freeway Entrance sign then switched to Interstate 680 near San Jose .
They also used a then unopened stretch of Highway 87 in San Jose from the 280 interchange heading south toward Almaden Expressway. You can see the light rail tracks in the middle as Clint Eastwood is driving next to the delivery trailer before he got on it and it flipped over.
when i was a kid where i wanted to have this where i was not allowed to watch that because no kids allowed watching that! It is premises for the kids not watching that action movie!
Damn straight fortminor85! When that dude asked that question, I was like, 'You know who he is? He's your worst fuckin' nightmare, that's who Clint is.'
All I can say on this one is for once the cops have a realistic car and not some heavily modified unrealistic personal vehicle that a cop likely couldn't even afford. I enjoy seeing stock vehicles in chases more than modified ones because it adds a more realistic feel to the chase.
Best "Dirty Harry" film that isn't genuinely a "Dirty Harry" movie just like how Eddie Murphy's "Metro 1997" is actually the best "Beverly Hills Cop" that is not connected to that franchise .
This movie is a fucking turd. No doubt about it. Clunky, painfully unfunny, and horribly directed by Eastwood himself, with Raul Julia trying on a German(!!!!) accent. Still, the score is balls-out awesome.
The best & most drastically underrated Eastwood film ! PERIOD.

Andrew B Were Those Trucks Stolen?
Crazy! I remember as a child watching them film this over the overpass on Mabury! You're right, there was always a large crowd every night.
Thumbs up for the proper usage of ME instead of I.

This movie set the record for the most stunt drivers vs actors cast in a movie
this movie was 10000000 times better than The Dead Pool (DH 5), in my opinion
I agree
Yeah this was way better than the Dead pool@@loayprettyboy206
@@loayprettyboy206Clint did not direct the Deadpool that was Buddy Van Horn and he also directed any which way you can and pink Cadillac
I really want this soundtrack. One of my favorite Clint Eastwood movies
I actually own a Crown Vic like that. Built Ford Tough.
Happy 90th birthday 🍰 Clint Eastwood 🥳🍾🎊🎉🎂
I don't know about the rest of the movie, but that car chase was pretty inventive. And freakin' awesome too!
yes
RIP Raul Julia
great actor!
Only 54 years old when he passed away. Gone too soon😔
Michael Bay must have liked this chase so much he did his own car carrier version for Bad Boys 2.
Bay did it better.
@@CaptainSpalding72 but Eastwood made it real
Eastwood film stunts all were real both classical & old fashioned way (70s,80s & Early 90s stuff) .
Bay never had an original idea in his life
yes
what about to make it on DVD that you're going to sell in the shop. Could you please upload that full real movie of that one?
“You got a light ?” XD
Best movie with mine 2 fav actors
Jim Wilkey is such a good driver. He was on the big rig. He also did the joker truck flip in the dark knight and was the bus driver in the fugitive.
I think Cary Loftin was a stunt driver in this too.
@@andysahs1599 Looks like IMDB has him listed as a stunt driver. Not sure what role he had in this movie though.
@@Crzypengu I think he was Eastwood's stunt driver

Freeway scene filmed in San Jose CA on the 680 freeway I was there . I was like 10 years old .
I saw this movie decades ago
I love 90s movies 😉💖🖒🎥📽🎬
dont make them like that anymore.
This scene was shot in San Jose on 680. Look at the signs
Why is this not blocked worldwide? When i try uploading it to UA-cam its blocked.
1:40 that siren sounds like a federal signal director pa-15 or pa-20
The car carrier is a Freightliner FLA 75
2 porsches, a ferrari Daytona, and a firebird. Really?
It really bothers me the studio was so lazy to put a flashing amber light in the rear window

One such innovator in the film industry is Clint Eastwood, I wonder why he loves California ❤
was that Loco joining Blackwell & Strom onboarding on the semi truck with the stolen cars to finish off Nick to burn rubber?!!
this action movie is a similar of every action movie in the states where it's the similar violence, bullying, killing & cursing for a shit!
4:34 "have you got a light?" & Clint Eastwood fainted forward down diving to the ground to thud at the end of this clip!
If only Charlie Sheen cared about the 2 cops that got shot in the airport because he didn't kill Sonia fast enough.

what's film has the car chase where the knock the chevron sign
3 cars drop off at Storm's lorry where to cause the accident chaos because there's lot of bad guys in it!
This was filmed in san jose ca
When Clint becomes enraged, insurance companies go bankrupt!
burning rubber!
WTF?? Hopefully, that wasn't a REAL Ferrari Daytona Spyder that got crashed on that car carrier... that would be a million dollar mistake. LOL :)
I think its a Pontiac Fiero or a Ford Mustang or a Chevy Corvette dressed up to look like a Ferrari Daytona Spyder .
at 3:14-3:23 in 9 seconds where the red empty car pulls along to make the truck have an accident where the car with the caravan trapped in the accident with the more chaos going on where the taxi jumps over to crash where the lorry stops at the accident
at the back of the lorry where the spores scraping along the road to burn rubber with the drazzle flames
Avery underated scene still holds up today, compared with some of the CGI garbage you get.
some guys are not nice at the states including this action movie!
So...they just load those cars into the carrier with no parking brake whatsoever?
