Passed through this beautiful place while driving on my honeymoon. Received a serendipitous text from my mother, a photograph of a letter sent from her grandmothers sister with an address that just happened to be in the very place we were passing through. stopped off to discover the butcher was married to my grandfathers cousin! flash forward one hour we were standing in the graveyard together, and I was staring at the burial place of my great great great grandfather with my lost Irish family. Memories I could never ever put a value on… landscapes and faces that will flash before my eyes as I leave this world.
Nice... im happy my video stirred a memory or two for you!!! i also have a second Pallasgrean video you might enjoy, search for "a tribute to Pallasgreen"
Thanks for posting this nice video. My great-great-grandmother Johanna Ryan and her brother, Fr. John Ryan are from PallasGreen. Fr. John came to the United States in the 1840's after attending the All Hallows Seminary in Dublin. Johanna came along to the United States as his housekeeper. Rev. John Ryan and Johanna Ryan Kearney are buried in Galesburg, Illinois. Maybe we are long-distant cousins. If I get over there, first pints are on me!
Sound Patrick! your kind words are worth more than gold I do this for the love of flying my drone and I'm delighted to be able to show off my hometown!
My mum came from Pallasgreen. My cousin Helen Ryan lives in the original homestead, Nicker cottage. She kindly sent me this video. My grandparents were Ellen and Jeremiah Ryan. Four of their seven children emigrated to England and married English/Welsh partners. I grew up in Manchester, and lived there for the greater part of my life, though now, I live Anglesey, Wales. I have fond memories of visiting my grandparents in my childhood. Pallas was very different then. (I am 68 years old), very much an undeveloped little hamlet. My gran's sister, Auntie Josie, lived at Brook Hall. Happy memories. I would be very interested to know anything about my greatgrandparents, if anyone knows the geneology. I believe my gran's family were called Harty. Best Wishes. Ann Garner
I stayed in a farm/guest house in 1976 which was owned by JJ and Mary O'Byrne, does any part of this video show that location ? I was 7 years old and that summer was a scorcher,
Hi James... That was a long time ago! Can you remember what part of the village the guesthouse/farm was? I'd like to upload a video of the house if it's still standing and surrounding farm for you!
@@spideogaerial9911 Hi Shane, the location was in Portane, it was a farm house that had a separate building that was used as a guesthouse. Jj's wife was Mary. Summer of 76 was seriously hot, the tarmac on the road to Doon was melting and those were such fun times.
Just found an obituary! And i know the area! Guess who's going to fly his drone tomorrow haha! shane78@live.ie drop me an email and I'll send you the obituary
