  • Here's the most unique version you'll ever hear of Jaco performing his classic tune. With a wonderfully chaotic ending and a drum solo by Peter Erskine, the quintet makes it up as they go.
One wild night... 40 years later.

Thanks for this - I was certain that I had heard every note of Jaco's that was ever recorded - obviously not.
in your comments from the video (that's great, btw) I don't think that when you stated "chaos ensues" that it was chaos per se, Jaco was clearly repeating the ending chord progression over and over again, but for some reason Brecker kept trying to take it in a different direction. What came of it was not necessarily chaos, since it didn't actually devolve into a "train wreck" - where everyone just quits playing - but almost went into an atonal free-form type thing until

Is this recording from NYC? I am thinking but figured I would ask. The title came from a movie title with the original Super Man Christopher Reeves.

The title came from a 1972 Charlie Brent tune of the same title.See "Original Three Views Of A Secret Charles Brent 1972"

DAMN YOU MILLLLLLOOOWWWWWSSSKKIII!!!! LOL...I think I might have to start saying that in a bunch of Jaco post. 😁 DAMN YOU MILLLLLOOOWEEEESSSSKKIIII!!!!

Sorry, I think they took away the "edit" function for comments... kept playing until Erskine started his solo (or trying to bring everything together again) - he also started with most of his accents outlining the rhythm of the 3rd (ending) section before branching off into the solo-I wonder what was happening on stage before the bass clarinet comes in (which is basically noodling around the end chord progression) - maybe there was a discussion between Pastorius and Brecker as to just what the fuck was going on - or who the fuck was leading the band. That's what I imagine anyway
